I am currently studying at a boarding school where there is a strict policy regarding VPNs. Our network administrator forces us to use a unique username and password to log into the school wifi like any other schools and somehow have a way to detect whether or not someone is using a VPN. I have seen people receiving email warnings about them acknowledging the use of a VPN and my school punishes the use of VPN extremely heavily. Therefore, is there any way that I can use a VPN to play games without the risk of being detected or is that not possible? My school also is located at some countryside place and I have quite literally no access to mobile data as well.

I've seen people using Cloudflare or nextDNS with their VPN and I'm kinda confused about whether there's any point in doing that. Doesn't the VPN already take care of DNS?

Do you actually notice any difference with a custom DNS or do you just leave everything on default?

Like I've been wondering that how most people actually use their VPN. Do you guys leave it on 24/7 or only turn it on when you need it?

I’m currently using Mullvad on a 300Mbps Fiber connection (EU/Greece) and considering giving IVPN a try. My setup includes three devices: an iOS phone, an Android phone, and a macOS laptop.
Mullvad has been solid across all my OS platforms, but I’m curious about IVPN’s overall performance, multi-hop implementation, and DNS anti-tracking features. Since both providers dropped port forwarding a while back, my main priorities right now are speed/latency consistency on WireGuard, cross-platform app stability (especially battery impact and seamless reconnection on mobile), and strong privacy defaults.
For those who have used both recently (and ideally across multiple OS ecosystems):
How does IVPN compare to Mullvad in terms of real-world WireGuard speeds and routing quality in Europe?
How stable and refined are IVPN's apps on iOS, Android, and macOS compared to Mullvad’s?
Is the upgrade to IVPN Pro (for Multi-hop) worth the price jump compared to Mullvad’s flat €5/month?
Any subtle pros/cons or device-specific issues you noticed after switching?

hi! me and my friends use our university wifi, but it’s heavily restricted and normally only lets us access the school portal.

we recently found a vpn that somehow lets us use the wifi normally on android phones. we can use youtube, play games, browse websites, etc. we’ve tried other vpns, but this is the only one that works for us.

the problem is that we also have iphones/ipads, and the same vpn doesn’t seem to work the same way on ios. it connects, but the wifi is still restricted.

does anyone know why a vpn might work on android but not ios in this situation? and is there a way to get around the internet restriction on ios using a vpn? maybe a specific protocol or ios vpn setting?

we’re just trying to figure out why the same wifi + vpn setup works on android but not on ios.
