Taos- sell or keep

I have a 2023 Taos that has had some issues- coolant issues, software, terrible rear brake pads.

It’s completely paid off and I’m wondering if I should trade it in for maybe something older but more reliable? I only have 5K miles left until warranty is over and I’m so afraid something is going to go wrong once it’s off warranty and I’ll be out a ton of money.

Opinions?

CarPlay drops

My 2025 SE black CPO Has been great so far but now CarPlay seems to disconnect and I can’t reconnect unless I either do a hard reboot of the infotainment system or restart the car. Seems more when I’m wireless and maybe not when I plug in.
After it drops it asks me to use WIFI which obviously CarPlay doesn’t use and it can’t connect.
Anyone else have a similar issue?
Should I ask the dealer to check it out?

2023 Taos battery bad and car won’t start

My son has a 2023 Taos and didn’t tell us he needed a new battery. He has been jumping the battery for a while. Today the battery completely died while driving. Went to the auto part store and bought a new battery. Once connected the horn is blaring and the car will not turn on. Nothing happens when you connect the battery besides the constant horn and the windshield wipers going.

2023 Taos SE feels slower / loss of acceleration

Hi everyone, I have a 2023 VW Taos SE FWD that I’ve been driving for almost 2 years. It currently has almost 40,000 miles on it.

Recently, I’ve noticed that the car doesn’t feel as responsive as it used to. It still drives normally and there are no obvious issues while cruising, but when I press the gas, especially when trying to accelerate quickly, it feels slower and less powerful than before.

There is no Check Engine light or other warning light on the dashboard. The car starts and idles normally, and I’m not noticing any unusual noises.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with a Taos around this mileage? Could this be related to the turbo/boost, fuel system, spark plugs, transmission, or something else?

I’m planning to have it scanned for codes, but I wanted to hear from other Taos owners first. Any ideas or similar experiences?

2024 VW Taos Front License Plate

Hello Taos people! I am a brand new VW owner and I could use some help. I have no idea how to attach my front license plate with the Volkswagen installed license plate bracket.
It looks like this particular bracket wants me to drill holes (with self tapping screws) in the bottom of this bracket for the bottom 2 holes of the license plate.
Then what? The top of the plate just bounces against the paint of my bumper?
If anyone can help, it’s much appreciated!

2024 Taos SE 4Motion Rear Brake Pads and Rotor Replacement

Hi everyone, I took my Taos in this morning to the dealership I bought it from to get my last free oil change and they told me that it looks like my Rear Brake Pads and Rotors need replacement at only 23,594 miles. They say that they're at 2mm and brand new is 10mm. I've only had the car since April 2024 so this seems pretty fast for that to happen.

Is this a common problem with the car? I plan on taking to a local shop to have them look at it too because I called them this morning and they said they have a hard time believing it on a 2.5 month old car.

Any active/ongoing class-action lawsuit vs Taos?

I googled and I see some but I am not sure if the case(s) are settled. I am having non-stop issues with my Taos.

Thank you!

Ceiling console part replacement?

Hi all, I did something dumb and clumsy today. I accidentally hit my head on my open sunglasses compartment (didn't realize it was open when I leaned over) which broke part of the plastic off holding the light module to the ceiling. Am I correct to assume this would be a difficult repair for someone inexperienced? I'm trying to avoid what would probably be a costly repair at the shop but I'm guessing I don't have much choice at this point.

A/C issues

So,
2023 Taos S 75k in mileage.
Just took a road trip and noticed the air wasn’t blowing full blast or at its coldest. Like it would cycle on and off.
I’ve never noticed this before. Is it regular? Also should state, live in Florida and yeah it’s hot as heck here.

Taos or Crosstrek? Which compact SUV would you buy?

The Taos and Crosstrek seem to attract a lot of the same buyers.

The Crosstrek has the outdoorsy reputation, while the Taos offers a surprisingly roomy interior and a straightforward, comfortable driving experience.

If you were shopping today, which one would you take and why?

Coolent light/leak

I have a 22 Taos SE 28kish miles. No real issues this far except the black out infotainment when I need the gps most.
However, 2 weeks ago my coolent light kept coming on just in the mornings before I drove then wouldn’t come on again all day. I took it to VW (still under warranty for literally one more week). Seems to be a slight leak. Thing is VW won’t fix it or replace the head gasket, which is sure to go according to the mechanic, under warranty now because they “changed their policy” after this was such an apparent issue.

Has anyone else heard this or dealt with it?

I have calls into corporate in hopes they contact the regional VW. But if it’s not resolved under warranty I’m concerned I may need to take them to small claims court. As my original warranty in 2022 did cover this.

2025 Taos Comfortline black

Searching for a nice sub compact suv and I've always enjoyed the look of the Taos. I'm eyeing one up in N..S. ( Cad) that is $32,995 with 7500kms on it. Curious if anyone has any regrets with the 2025 taos , or anything I should be worried about if I do make the purchase.

Thanks !

Taos 2025 Front Plate Bracket?

Hey guys! I moved from a state with only rear license plate to one that requires front and rear license plates. Do you know of any good no drill brackets for the front plate? The dealership I bought the Taos from gave me one that is supposed to be rivet-mounted but I don't want to drill the car's front. I've looked in google but can't find any convincing ones.

TLDR: Pls recommend no drill front plate brackets.

Do I cut my losses now on my 2022 Taos SE?

I bought a 2022 Taos SE as a CPO in early spring 2025. I thought this was the perfect next car for me as I was downsizing from a 3 row SUV. And it was at first. I noticed the wipers going off randomly, but I couldn't pinpoint any common data at first. Then my remote start wouldn't work. Took it to the dealer and they discovered a head gasket issue. Got that fixed and the remote start was working again. They couldn't duplicate the wiper issue, so no action was taken. Completely disregarded me when I told them I didn't have auto wipers in my model.

Fast-forward to this summer and the wipers are out of control. I gathered as much data as I could regarding when they would go off and made an appointment. Meanwhile my infotainment screen went black. No backup camera. No radio. Nothing. Added this diagnostic to my service appointment.

The wipers need a new "switch" is what they told me. Not sure if that is the stalk everyone is talking about. They also told me the screen has "no communication" so they're wanting to replace the screen, but it is on backorder with no ETA on when it will arrive or be fixed. Meanwhile, I have no radio or backup camera. I can deal with the backup camera in the short term, but having no radio is brutal.

These are all covered under the warranty, but that is about to expire. I have considered trading it in for something completely different. Their desired trade in value is lower than what I owe on it (same dealer I purchased from and paid more than minimum every month). I'm disappointed, but also don't want this to be a money pit. I'm reading the forums and don't see a lot of positive resolutions. Has anyone had a good long-lasting solution? Or are we all dealing with little issues and biding our time until we dump this car?

Epc/engine light

I bought a 2022 from carmax back at the end of May at 23,833 miles. It now at 28,970. Yesterday I took it through an automatic car wash and I’ve been dog sitting the past few days. A few hours after the car wash, the epc light came on. And then a few moments later the engine light came on. It was sluggish at first and struggling to accelerate but i switched it to sport mode and no more sluggish. It’s been driving completely normal. I have maxcare warranty. I called Volkswagen dealership and made an appointment to bring it in. The guy on the phone looked up my VIN and said there’s a recall and needs a software update . Now I’m at the dealership and they are saying there’s no recall and doesn’t need an update. What is going on???? Also the dealership said my factory warranty is expired and they don’t work with max care warranty?? Is this correct?!

2024 VW TAOS SE

My check engine light recently came on, took it to the dealership and they said it was bad fuel, recommended doing a tank of 91 and sticking to Top Tier gas. Have been putting exclusively chevron, was fine with 91, however when I tried chevron 87 the check engine light came back on towards the last quarter of a tank, put 91 back in and it turned off. Anyone else experience something like this? I don’t believe it’s bad fuel if the check engine light is coming on with Chevron 87.

"Emergency vehicle nearby"

A message like this popped up on my dash this afternoon (25 Taos SE Black) and sure enough I saw an ambulance turn off about a block away. I presume it detected the siren sound but could have been the strobe to flip the traffic lights.

Never seen that before.
