I never read the og run so do you like it more than the new rebook one or think both are equally good?
Hey guys, so recently at my local comic shop I picked up some cool variant covers of some random Vampirella issues for the sake of them looking cool. However, now I’m more interested in actually catching up on the run that I started collecting inadvertently. I did some digging and found a matching cover off of Kindle with the run being titled “Vampirella (Vol. 8) #2”
So I started going backwards to try and trace back what would be Vol. 1 of this current run, but I’m having some trouble with the naming conventions of the current run, or at least I think it’s a current run, can anyone help clarify where to start to eventually get to Vol. 8?
Sketching at a horror show and this one turned into Vampirella.
I recently used a reading order guide to get caught up on all dynamites run of vampirella comics. I also did some research on her past before that. So dynamite starts out as a continuation of the 90s comics. Where her mom is the biblical Lilith and Vampirella was her attempt correct her past. The Drakulon angle was kind of left by the road side during that time and everything was way more classically supernatural eith heaven and hell. I do enjoy those comics things feel a bit more fun horror adventure pulp.
Then when the current Christopher Priest run started she whent back to being an alien. Certain things like.demons angels and some magic becomes God like aliens and science we cant understand. Her mother becomes a former Jon of Arch type figure corrupted then driven mad by the loss of her child. Theres also a constant reminder of the separation between things that are supernatural and sci fi. I like Priests run a lot after years of vampirella being reset for random stories it feels like she an actual world/ solid continuity. My one complaint is Priest likes to do things non-linear and do a lot of flash backs. Reading month to month its not a problem but it gets a little tired when your just binging it all.
I should give praise to the apocalypse setting spinning out of the 90s vengance comic. Its a different flavor im glad we get. Where she's still a supernatural vampire with a much heavier tone.
So my question is which version of her do you prefer?
After the ending of Armageddon we have the next chapter
One of my favorite cosplayers Christina Dark with this great Vampirella cosplay.
One of many I’ve done, mostly based from Jose’s illustrations 🦇
