In the single digits for cards remaining for my last three WOTC master sets. The market has certainly made it challenging, but gotta catch em all 😊
Any cards you folks love, from art to specific kinds of Pokemon, that you associate with this time of year?
I purchaced a almost complete set of like 90-95 legendary collection card including one of the zards for around 800 dollars for 10 years ago. Mostly LP-NM.
Fun fact I thought I was missing snorlax and had it in my want list, but realized today I had it! 😂 Now Im a bit motivated to try to complete this set as the only real pricey one Im missing is Psyduck reverse
I'm including one vintage, mid era and modern.
Pidgeot Jungle:
Scyther, Snorlax and the Eeveelutions were the chases then and they’re the chases now, and I don’t think that was ever a judgment about the cards, rather the Pokemon on them. Nobody’s favourite was Pidgeot, despite any one who played the original games likely having one of their team.
Of the Jungle holos, for the most part they’re portraits, the Pokémon standing there being the Pokémon. Pidgeot is a dive with wings pinned back, talons already open, with the foil behind it doing the job of a sky it’s diving out of.
I think it's one of early Pokemon's most successful attempts at turning the art into a scene.
Unseen forces Bellossom:
Unseen Forces is a gold star set, and I’m not going to pretend Entei, Raikou and Suicune aren’t the correct answer. In fact, all of the gold stars are the valid answer for what the chase is. I'm pointing out the next layer of chases after the gold stars.
IMO, Bellossom is the best painting in the set. Saitou put three Bellossom in frame- multiple pokemon on a single card was still rare when this came out. The holo works as dimming the setting, making the sky darker and placing the other Bellossom into a dance line backgrounded by the central one. Imo, the best cards align the art with the Pokemon being featured. The energy of this card feels spot on for how Bellossom should be portrayed. I think this card is a great example of mid-era storytelling and pokemon-art alignment. I suppose mileage on this card varies based on what you think of Bellossom. If you think it's a top tier grass type, this card will hit more strongly.
Arbok Temporal Forces:
Again, putting the art first, OKUBU cut this card like a woodblock. The jungle reads as carved with flat greens and black contours. Most modern arts are a pokemon placed in a scene (in fact, a decent mountain of modern chases are actually just a popular Pokemon backgrounded by a miasma of colours- so less a scene than a vibe). This feels like the inverse, where a scene happens to contain a pokemon. The art almost feels more like a print than it does a pokemon card.
The irony of this one is that Arbok was one of the Pokemon that, since gen 1, people would complain hasn't gotten enough love.
I actually think temporal forces is an underrated modern set in terms of its art (with some being put off by the paradox pokemon), but when I was opening it, this was absolutely my chase. If PE Magikarp is the gold standard for modern IR, I see this as a tier below.

I fell in love with this Charizard artwork after buying the PSA 10. Besides the fact that I absolutely love Japanese old school cards.
I am not sure if this is the only PSA 1 to 10 set in the world. Maybe someone could let me know?

So I decided to buy five of PokeRev’s new “Mega Rip” packs, and got insanely lucky on the last one I opened (please don’t buy these expecting to get what I did).
I didn’t know what to with this pack and had no ability to weigh it properly. So of course I ripped it, probably won’t ever have that opportunity again!
I’m really just a collector, so don’t plan to sell any of these anytime soon, but would the non-holos be worth grading? Some are in great shape, but a couple are definitely not 10s. I already sent my Dark Gyarados Holo in for grading as it’s VERY clean.

Older Japanese Promo with the respective cards in their original sleeves. Got it from a friend ages ago and left it there. Comps are everywhere. Any input Poke Friends?
It is in good condition considering its age. Small sticker/glue mark running horizontally at the top of the picture. Corners are not bad and looks like a small dent at top of first picture as well.

I have a completed set of unlimited Neo Genesis. Holding as a collector at least another 30 years in good health. This is gonna be really sweet to repost in 2056!
I was visiting my parents the other day and I found my old binder. Lots of good memories with these! Not sure what I'll do with them at this point. I moved them into top loaders for the time being.
He is damaged, but so am I lol.

I haven’t finished counting all the cards I got but this was the largest collection of NM to very LP WOTC Pokemon cards. So far what I’ve gone thru has been all 1st EDITION BASE SET, SHADOWLESS BASE SET, FOSSIL, JUNGLE, TEAM ROCKET,NEO GEN.
Also included the SOUTHERN ISLAND SET. (No Charizard, blastoise, or venasaur). Most were non holo. And now I’m the owner of this collection. He wanted a Focus Fighter box for the Sealed Neo Gen file #1. And wanted $4-$500 dollars for the cards. He wanted his gf to rip packs and find some “cute”cards. He was about to go to the military. I handed him $1200. And he said “Are you sure sir”. lol (I told him I was a Vet too. I was in the Marines he’s joining the Air Force) Amazing amazing amazing.
A lot of you in my last post talking about “yOu WoULd nEvEr cRaCk a PSA 10 ThOuGh!”
Whole point is that I would never buy a PSA 10 to begin with lol. Slabs are cool and I obviously have some (most of those will be cracked once I complete my checklist) but I just feel like flipping through cards like a book is more fun! Some others also mentioned slab binders…which are also cool but nearly impossible with 360+ cards!
