Fix SpongeBob

Hi, I found this SpongeBob messenger bag in a yard sale and damaged the images when washing. The face got little parts of the vinyl (assuming) unstuck/peeling and some missing bits on the mouth, cheek, and an eye. The side of the bag had the logo almost completely disappear. It'd be cool to repair the logo but I'm more concerned about keeping his face intact.

How would you approach this? Iron it back down? Puffy paint? Paint markers? Embroidery? Something else? The bag says it is 55% ramie and 45% polyester. I'd mostly like it to look okay permanently, not necessarily reverse the damage, if that makes sense.

Us cutter Mh871 trouble with large format cuts

I got this cutter about a year ago, and I wanted to use it to make signage for our church festival. I do all of my design work in affinity designer. I converted all the text to curves and expanded everything so it's all vector. I then saved it as an EPS. I sent the letters to the cutter which ended up being an approximate width of 24" by a little under 8 feet long. What I ended up with were some of the letters looking fine, but some letters overlapping each other on the 8 foot length. As far as I can tell, the correct drivers are installed. I am using the USB port to print. The computer is Windows 11.

Which Vinyl Cutter to buy?

Hi everyone, I am in a process of buying a Vinyl Cutter but i dont know which one to buy. I have worked with Vinyl Cutters earlier in my life and i have some experience with the whole Topic of Vinyls, Textile and etc. but i have little knowledge about Technical Details of such machines.

My goal is to make Ad's (Vechicles and Signs), stickers and later T-shirts, cups, etc. that's why i need something with bigger Cutting capacity. Through research i have found a few candidates which i am considering to choose, the only problem is, im not sure if they are any good.

Candidates: Vevor 720mm, Silhouette Cameo 5, Cricut, Mimaki (Higer Budget).

I know that the Vevor is the cheapest option and it's kinda good, but when it starts to break you have no way of finding replacement parts.

Both Silhouette and Cricut are more like Hobby Cutters, both are good, but projects are going to be limited in Lenght and Distance .

Personaly i already worked with mimaki and im willing to get back to it, but the problem is, they are not cheap.

Do you guys have any suggestions that may help me choose the right one?

Vinyl cutter not closing contours consistently

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an intermittent cutting issue with my vinyl cutter while cutting window film, and I'm hoping someone here has seen something similar before.

The main problem is that some contours are not closing properly. The start and end points of the cut don't always meet, leaving a small uncut section.

To troubleshoot, I ran several tests:

  • I cut a straight strip measuring 1400 mm x 20 mm twice.
  • Both cuts were perfect from start to finish.
  • The blade cut cleanly through the film without damaging the liner.
  • There were no uncut sections anywhere along the strip.

However, when I continued with additional test cuts, the results became inconsistent:

  • Some cuts closed perfectly.
  • Others showed the same issue, where the contour did not fully close.
  • The problem appears random rather than constant.

Because the long straight cuts were accurate, I'm unsure whether the issue is related to:

  • Blade holder play
  • Mechanical backlash
  • Tracking accuracy
  • Stepper/servo positioning
  • Software or communication errors
  • Offset calibration

Has anyone experienced intermittent contour-closing problems like this?

Any suggestions for additional tests or possible causes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Immediate death if I don’t fix this

My plotter (Graphtec cutting pro FC9000) just broke down. I just figured I’d post here and see if anyone has had this problem and fixed it. I changed the cutting mat and fully reset the plotter and it’s still doing this weird jumping thing. Also I won’t immediately die, I’m just dramatic and this is screwing up my flow today. THANK YOUUUUU
