Why does my gas-o-meter parties like it's Friday?

Basically title and video. Whenever I'm driving or just starting the car the gass-o-meter is jumping left and right all the time.

It used to be more subtle but it is getting worse. Something I can fix myself as a noob?

Rear Seat Cover loose

Good evening,

Since last week, I'm the proud owner of a 2.3 8v with Blue MB-Tex interior.

I love the car but one small nuisance with the interior is bugging me.

The Covers on the back of my front seats are loose, I guess the last owner lost the screws holding them secure or something.

Does anyone here know how I can reattach them or what measurements the screws need to have?

Kind regards

Still need to adjust but wanted to see what it looked like e36 bumper

Wanted a new bumper and an M3 e36 bumpers are at least a 3rd of an Evo or anything Mercedes specifics. A little adjustments to align it. Then shave some of the bumper on the corners. Then some quick 3d printed spacer brackets should look good.

This is right after I 5 speed swapped it.

Exhaust recs?

My exhaust just rusted out. Looking for some recs for something that sounds good but not too loud. The style of my 190E is low and slow. Thx!!

Need help diagnosing a 2.6 1989

Car stalls in idle, when revving, and just regular driving.

The fuel pumps are on the way since i heard buzzing on one of them as it’s very loud.

But i also noticed this hose disconnected in the picture. Anyone know what this does?

There’s a third hole where the arrow points. I think the elbow hose came off that line which disconnected it.

Car is a 1989 2.6

New cars are shit, so it made buy this

1992 190 E 2.3 Avant-garde Azzuro

My dad had number 21 / 120 made for Switzerland (which got crashed by a dude without a license in 2001). So here is number 28 (the most special part is the interior, if you guys want I can add more pictures)

AMG Style Front Bumper

Finally installed the AMG style body kit. It was the Taiwanese made ABS piece sold under many names. Advertised to be ‘bolt on’ but I had to do some cuttings to make them fit on my 89 RHD model. The Sacco panels come in the kit doesn’t have the OEM style clips points - supposed to be glued on, seems pretty questionable for an external trim so I kept the OEM ones.
Overall pretty decent as far as aftermarket kit goes.

No brakes

Hey guys, so I have no brakes only when the car is turned on. I bled the brakes and especially the passenger rear because i took apart that caliper. I changed the front brake pads as well. But after that I have no brake pressure when the car is on, but when the cars off im able to build brake pressure.

I am able to stop the car if I push the pedal all the way to the floor, but not really much stopping power.

Any ideas?

Weird noises

My W201 190E 2.6 sometimes makes a strange buzzing/whirring noise while driving or idling.
It’s not constant and seems completely random.

The weird thing is: after shutting the car off and starting it again, the noise disappears completely.

Car is a 1989 Mercedes 190E 2.6 automatic with around 212k km.

Has anyone experienced something similar on an M103/W201?
Fuel pump? ABS? Hydraulic system? Vacuum related?

I attached a video with the sound. Any ideas are appreciated 😅

W201 steering rod end alost touching the wheel

I just realized upon lifting my car, to replace the exhaust, that my steering rod ends are too close to the wheel. They are 1 mm away from touching it.
I had them replaced and aligned two years ago. Drives well and straight. The wheels look normal from the outside.
I have the original 7” wide sportline alloys with 205-55/15 tires.
Is this normal?

Stalling at idle and then rough start

Hey everyone, i came to take my car (1993 w201 2.6L) out of storage and im running into issues. It ran fine before storing it and now its struggling. It would have a hard start, long crank and kind of bogging when it would normally fire up, lights in the dash would dim a bit, then continue cranking. When it does fire up it idles very well for about 20 minutes then stall. It then becomes very difficult to start, but same thing, if it does start then it idles well. I cleaned the icv and issues persist. Plugs were pretty gunked up so replaced them and replaced the ovp as it seemed to line up with my issues. I am getting fuel as it seems to flood when cranking it to try and start it back up. Checked for vacuum leaks by spraying brake cleaner around while it was idling. Im not sure what to look at next

Motor oil recommendations

Hey guys,
I need to change the motor oil in both my 260E and 190E 1.8 and don’t know which one will be the best to use…

I think that 15W-50 would be the best viscosity as I use the cars mostly from spring to autumn with only occasional drives when the weather gets nice in winter…

I want higher viscosity as I like to drive them real fast on the highway, which also means very high RPM…

Currently running Liqui Moly 10W-40 MoS2 in the 260E and MOL 10W-40 in the 190E… I always change the oil after 10 000km or a little sooner…

Thanks for your suggestions!
