Both top corners of the rubber weather molding started "peeling" out.

What are my options?

1997, Driver Seat Removal Question

I am a total novice, never worked on any cars. So, please forgive me for my stupid question.

Taking apart the interior for cleaning, and stuck with this connector (under the driver seat)

How to disconnect it? I guess I tried almost everything

Just joined the club (1997, 4WD, Manual $900)

After a couple of months of searching, I was able to find a1997, XJ Sport, Manual with 172,000 miles

California Jeep, which means no rust at all. Thank you to some redditors helping out with a lot of information.

It's not a beauty car by any means, it's kind of ugly.... But that's its beauty.

The initial list of things to do:

  1. CCV valves and the cover gasket
  2. Coolant flush - It's UGLY
  3. Interior cleanup (take all the stuff out and clean it good)

And then start driving and chasing all the other challenges (also improving the outlook, paint is ugly)

Best Car To Learn How To Wrench

Howdy,

I am a noob... a total noob when it comes to cars, how they work and how to work on them.
Growing up, I didn't have a father that would teach me about car, mechanics and other related stuff.

Now, I have a boy (almost 12 years old) and I want to learn (with him together) how to work on cars.

What's the best car you'd recommend for this purpose? You know, they one, that does not required to have PHD in car mechanics, or a set of tools that cost more than a liver.

Thank you

Why is the Rear Leaf Spring Misaligned?

I have a 1998 F150 (4WD), and recently I noticed that the bottom rear spring leaf is misaligned, the shortest one is splaying sideways.

Why did it happen and how to fix it?

Thank you.

P.S.

Also, the pads are worn, I have a replacement coming

Hiking and camping.... 10 years in service

Well, it's called "Traveler's Notebook" for a reason. The best companion when it comes to trails, hikes and motorcycle trips (that's another hobby of mine.)
Sometimes, I get this question, "How do you get a patina like this?" and the answer is pretty easy and boring, "Just use it, and with time you'll get it".

P.S.
I always get a second hand embracement when people try to "age" their notebooks artificially. For what? Just to make the look cool. That's so fake....
The formula is super easy - usage x time = great patina and experience

Well, I wish I read a bunch of other posts about this "seller".... But, maybe my experience will save someone from dealing with this person.

  • March 31, 2026 - Purchased a nib "Pilot Vanishing Point" (no work, just a nib unit)
  • April 8 - nothing from him, sent an email just to check the status of my order. He didn't reply but updated the status to "Sent"\
  • April 13 - received the nib, tested it and it was very scratchy.... Very scratchy. I mean, for an 18K nib it was HORRIBLE
  • April 13 - Immediately sent him an email asking for my next steps
  • crickets
  • April 15 - sent a follow up email
  • April 16 - he replied "Send it back at your convenience. Do you want to exchange it, return it, or have it tuned?"
  • April 16 - I chose a return, at his point I didn't want to deal with him He started gaslighting me, trying to tell me that I am the problem and in the last 10 years I am the first one who wants to return the purchase (Yeah, right....) He told me that the problem is me, and I don't care about his circumstances (his birthday, or other things)
  • April 17 - Sent the nib back. USPS priority. Recorded a video of packing, a bunch of photo
  • April 20 - Delivered
  • Crickets......
  • April 28 - Sent a follow up email
  • Crickets...

I gave up and opened a dispute with my credit card company. I know what to expect from him, he will dispute my dispute (just read the different posts and I will have to proof my CC company or involve FTC to help the Credit Card company do their job)

I am not sure what kind of problems he has: drugs, mental issues, but be aware before you buy anything from him

UPDATE
April 30 - He replied saying he was busy with some other 25 returns. He issued a refund.
Told him I will wait until the refund clears out and then will withdraw the dispute.
