Recently upgraded from the OEM downpipe to a Cobb V2 w/ a GESi cat. Updated tune followed of course. It was SO hard to source a V2 as they were only in production for 1 year, before they became discontinued. Lucked out and found this unicorn with barely any heat cycling.
Initial impressions:
- pretty obvious from the pictures the OEM bellmouth is a major restrictor which can be a big contributor to back pressure vs the upgrade which allows for greater exhaust flow
- the car gets into boost very easily now
- TQ is a bit more instant in the midrange
- the rumble is more pronounced through the Q300, such a beautiful deep tone
- downshift snap crackle pops are so damn satisfying
- the car overall just seems way more responsive vs previously needing some time before coming alive
- didn’t think I could love the car more, but damn
- no CELs
Here's my 2015 STi. It's been great to me, I've had it for about 10 years this coming November. Bought it practically new, with 1800 miles. We are at 81k now. I try to take as good care of it as I can.
It's mostly stock except for an Accessport and Stage 1 OTS, Kartboy short shifter, and a muffler delete.
Coming up on the 10th year with this car, I'm not particularly interested in selling it, mainly because it's great. It's analog, fun, it's paid off, its not giving me really any issues. I take care of it, and make sure preventative maintence is done.
Now, I'm seriously considering doing SOMETHING to switch up the feel and make it feel a little different. I'm going between Stage 1+ with protune or Stage 2 with protune. Not really sure which way I want to go but I'd like a new smile on my face and refresh my love for this car.
Looking for some opinions here. I'm going back and forth and I can't really decide. What do you all think?
I just put the 502s back on after some initial buyer's remorse and they have grown on me lately. Doesn't handle quite as sharply in the corners, but the comfort on long drives and bumpy roads is a huge improvement. Currently on 245/45/17 all season tires but looking for recs/suggestions
Here’s another pull but with the invidia q300 catback installed, this exhaust sounds good under load and fixes a lot of things I didn’t like about daily driving with essentially a full straight pipe but this exhaust is very quiet when just cruising almost to the point you can’t hear the exhaust at all, I’ll drive with it for a few weeks and see if anything changes.
Grimmspeed UEL headers and up pipe, turbo XS Downpipe and tomei catback, I never realized how raspy the tomei is WOT especially right around 6500-7k rpm, I’m throwing the invidia q300 on this weekend to get the car quiet, the damn cold starts are brutal
Would love some insight here. I am looking at a 2020, limited STI with 16000 miles, completely stock and next to 0 imperfections. Was really well taken care of and didn’t come from a snow region so no corrosion. Asking price is 40k. Seems high but considering the condition of it, ok. Internet tells me these are valued around 33-37k. Is 40k just too high? Would love some input from people who know these cars. I get sometimes you have to pay a little more for well maintained cars but taking a hit right off the bat from a used car isn’t wise. Like I’m looking at another car, different model and brand and it’s a 2024 with 12k miles for the same price. I would love to hear any info, appreciate it.
Picked up a modded 2015 STI and was curious what others in this situation usually do maintenance wise right off the bat and getting to “Know” what the previous owner put under the hood, etc. Are there certain things to look for that you would question part wise? How to tell if it is in good condition? Or do you replace parts to feel safe knowing that YOU were the one that did these mods? I’m loving the car even though I’ve had a couple hiccups the past 2 months. I just don’t know where to start.
2016 wrx sti, I’ve been trying to find other examples of this motor online but it keeps showing different stuff
I’m new here. Just got this beauty and absolutely love it. Do kinda wish it had a wing though. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one?
What about pros and cons of having one? Thank you!
20 years later, after being dead set on getting a STI at the end of high school…the dream finally came true!
One adult owner. Factory stock & well maintained; I had to jump on it 😁
Talk about WOW - this Series.White just takes such good photos! Never gets old!
Does anyone daily drive their Sti ? I’m at 84k , AWE tuning cat back and on coilivers . I would like to know how you guys feel about daily driving them and other things ?
Bought a 2018 subaru wrx sti that came with a perrin intake. Now i want to do a full invidia or cobb catback exhaust and i found out you cant do both and get an off the shelf accessport tune, sooo i have to switch to oem airbox. NOW im confused on what the right one is bc i simply look up the part by the name and 2 diff ones show up. Help me out. TELL ME WHICH OF THESE I NEED!!!!!!!
