Issues after April win updates

We use AVD multisession. After April win updates, we have started to get an invalid code error popup on the Dell thin client as it tries to launch the session. In azure insights it shows up as an indirect display driver failure.

Has anyone else seen this or had this issue?

Success: Dell Wyse 5470 running stable with 12GB RAM (official limit is 8GB)

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with a RAM upgrade on the Dell Wyse 5470. As we all know, Dell officially specifies a maximum of 8GB.

I decided to take a risk and test the 8GB limit. My device is now running completely stable with 12GB! The system boots without any issues and shows no errors under load.

My configuration:

  • Device: Dell Wyse 5470 (Thin Client)
  • CPU: Intel Celeron N4100 @ 1.10GHz
  • BIOS version: 1.34.0
  • OS: Debian 13 ("Trixie")

RAM configuration:

Slot Size Manufacturer Part Number Spec
ChannelA-DIMM1 8 GB Samsung (80CE) M471A1G44BB0-CWE DDR4-3200 (runs at 2400)
ChannelA-DIMM2 4 GB Micron (802C) 4ATF51264HZ-3G2J1 DDR4-3200 (runs at 2400)

Proof (dmidecode):

Size: 8 GB
Locator: ChannelA-DIMM1
Type: DDR4
Speed: 3200 MT/s
Manufacturer: 80CE000080CE
Part Number: M471A1G44BB0-CWE
Configured Memory Speed: 2400 MT/s

Size: 4 GB
Locator: ChannelA-DIMM2
Type: DDR4
Speed: 3200 MT/s
Manufacturer: 802C0000802C
Part Number: 4ATF51264HZ-3G2J1
Configured Memory Speed: 2400 MT/s

System recognizes all 12GB (free -h):

total: 11Gi, used: 2.8Gi, free: 7.8Gi, available: 8.7Gi

My observations:

  • Both modules are rated for 3200 MT/s but run at 2400 MT/s - this is normal for the N4100.
  • The configuration is asymmetric (8GB + 4GB). The system is likely running in Flex Mode: 8GB (4+4) in dual-channel, the remaining 4GB in single-channel.
  • BIOS version 1.34.0 seems to have no issues with this mixed configuration.

Conclusion: The 8GB limit on the Wyse 5470 isn't set in stone. With the right combination (here: 8GB + 4GB), 12GB is achievable.

Question for the community:
Has anyone tested a 16GB stick in a Wyse 5470 yet? In theory, that would enable 20GB or 24GB (8+16 or 4+16).
