Hey all,
i am working on an idea right know and wanted to hear what you think.
I really like the "eisenhans" design from the videogame iron harvest and want to build some lookalikes for my krieg army. Bullgryns/ogryns would be a good candidate.
I am gathering ideas what models will give a good conversion basis...
The heads will be 3d printed. I think of tiny legends krieg heads.
The body is tricky. Dependent on what style i go for. More armoured ogryns or humans in exosuits. At the moment i prefer the later
-og ogryns: with Plastik card modelling to show hydraulics and more armour
-LOV thunderkyn: nice exosuite style but a bit small. Seen some conversions with stilt legs tho
-necromunda slave ogryns: more industiral style than og ogryns but i am not sure
-necromunda orrus spyre hunters: fitting height and really cool exosuite. The Design language is a bit too futuristic.
-3d printed "krieg" ogryns from alternative sotes exist but the exosuite style is missing like the og ogryns
Right now, my favorite is the orrus spyre hunter. Any ideas how to make them more astra militarum style, more edgy and rough?

Just waiting on a cape from greytide studio
Thought I’d post my finished Sammael kitbash, just in case GW reveal a new Sammael model today!
I swear almost every time I finish a kitbash of an old resin character model, GW tease or announce a shiny new model for it, so here’s hoping!
I’ve only got my kitbashed Asmodai left to paint before I have the full set of kitbashed DA characters haha
how well does the back part of the voidscarred torso(cape) fit with the front part of the kabalite warrior torso
Essentially Cadian Kasrkin+ AOS Barrow Guard in Krell’s paint scheme
Started as a SM landing craft, ended up looking very Orky. Made of a fighter plane kit I had lying about, a paper mint box, old bits and pieces.
Here is a little project I did for a client, I think they turned out pretty slick, what do you all think?
A while ago I came across a very interesting piece of art from the 'Only War' RPG, depicting a so-called 'Praecentor of Penance'. Since I'm working on a custom, mostly kitbashed group of penal legion soldiers for Kill Team (or larger 40K games at some point), I felt that this guy and the soldiers propping him up just had to be built somehow.
I found the Pontifex Zenestra box from Games Workshop, but didn't like the fact that there were only two carriers, plus the amount of odd bits on the chair itself.
Then I found the 'Thorncrest priests' resin kit by StationForge on Etsy. After finding out the arms carrying the chair were just four seperate pieces, I knew I could probably make it the way I wanted to (with four carriers) with just a few minor changes.
Problem with looking for 40K proxies on Etsy is ofcourse finding all these other cool kits. Next, I fell in love with a few specific characters in the 'Salvage Agents' set from StationForge: a frail old man carrying a giant propaganda TV set on a stick, a half man, half robot character pointing the way and a stoic looking hooded character. Those were perfect for three of the four carriers. I'll build the fourth one from many other seperate parts and pieces I have lying around. The whole thing doesn't need to be exactly similar to the artwork. As far as I'm concerned 'inspired by' and 'looking cool' is close enough.
Once the chair was balanced onto a base and a large eraser, the beams and arms were roughly at the appropriate height for the 'armpits' of the carriers. At first I wanted to see it I could balance the poles on top the carriers' shoulders somehow (similar to the art), but that would require way more puzzling and time than I wanted to spend. In fact, some of the shoulders aren't even broad enough to support anything. Instead, I'll settle for 'close enough'.
After glueing the poles into place on the chair, I cut the decorative elements from the bottom of the chair to match the artwork and set to work roughly attaching everything using poster putty.
That's where I'm at right now. I included photos of the three different setups I was thinking of for the priest figure. In the end, I decided not to go for the 'standing upon the chair pose' or the orthodox inspired priest. I did saw off the lower half of its body and sawed a torso with a 'head hole' off another priest figure. That way, I can freely choose a head I like.
For the next steps, I'm not sure what to do. Part of me wants to pin the arms and shoulders and smooth everything out with Green Stuff. On the one hand, that'll probably make the whole thing very unwieldy to paint properly. On the other hand, it seems counterintuitive to paint the carriers seperately, then attach their arms, Green Stuff and then try to match the painting.. Any advice?
Also, I'd love to hear suggestions for cool bits for these models: talismans, relics, trinkets: if you know cools sets with those, let me know!
I love weird world war and wanted to customise my tanks to match still needs some work but any feedback would be great. 😊
