Chaos Lord of Khorn - WIP

Almost finished with my first Chaos Lord. I've painted him to match my current army paint scheme. Mostly shading and extreme highlights to finish. Feedback welcome

Mutation - does it work?

I've been working on a Helbrute I stripped and rebuilt and when I did I kitbashed a few bits and pieces. In the process I came up with a shoulder/armour plate mutation that I originally wanted to look like clawed fingers coming from under the plate.

I saw it from a different angle and it struck me that it kinda looked like an insect, and Ive painted it very basically to get an idea of how it could look. My thought was to add some legs and claws, maybe wings where the tusks on the front of the plate are and make it some sort of symbiotic parasite.

Would love to hear any feedback or thoughts on the work so far.

Times a Newbie got themselves fired

I've seen loads of people come and go in retail, but a few really stick in my mind for getting themselves sacked either ridiculously quickly or in spectacularly stupid ways.

The one I'll never forget was a new guy who got himself fired for fraud in his first week.

I worked in the electronics department of a big box store. From day one this guy was useless. During training he'd mess around, constantly ask for help, then just stand back and let you do the work while he watched instead of actually learning anything.

One day he had a customer who wanted to buy a drone on finance. This was back when drones were still pretty new, and the finance company wouldn't approve it because they saw them as too risky.

Instead of just accepting that, he decided he'd found a loophole. He told the finance company the customer had changed their mind and wanted a camera instead, then messed around with the till so the customer actually left with a drone while the finance agreement was for a camera.

He came back looking so pleased with himself, bragging that he'd got the sale through and earned the commission.

That lasted about five minutes.

Someone spotted what he'd done almost straight away, he got dragged into the manager's office, absolutely ripped apart for committing fraud, and was fired on the spot.

First week on the job. Probably one of the stupidest sackings I've seen.

Anyone got any similar stories to share?

Helbrute kitbash ready to paint.

Been working on this Helbrute for a while and Im finally ready to paint. Im terrible at painting skin, especially necrotic or dead flesh for chaos. Has anyone any tips or tricks for this kinda skin?

Im painting the armour in khorn livery, so runelord brass and agarax earthshade for the trim undercoat and first wash, then khorne red for the armour plates, with mephiston red and scarlet sunz highlighting.

Kitbashed Khorne Helbrute.

I had put together the Helbrute and didnt like how Id originally put it together so I stripped it, pulled it apart and rebuilt it with some replacement parts from a Daemon Prince, a shoulder pad, chest piece, khorne beast head and jump pack. Feels more dynamic and less squat and stumpy than the original pose. This was the first big paint job after I came back to the hobby and I really wanted to redo it once I'd had some practice and settled on an army colour scheme.

Original and redo attached. Comments and suggestions welcome :)

Warp flames for World Eaters, yea or nay?

I love painting World Eaters, and decided to do a chaos marine chapter in their livery. As part of the colour scheme I used tesseract glow for all the weapons and eyes.

Also decided to use it for warp flames, and not sure if I like it. What does the community think? Any tips to improve?
