Whistler inequality

Genuinely interested in why people are so comfortable with the epic levels of inequality in whistler. I get that majority of locals are transient and don't really care because they have no skin in the game, but I'll never understand why Canadians aren't in the streets protesting the status quo. The rich are living high on the hog and avoiding taxes, meanwhile the average person is struggling to buy groceries. People seem more bothered about Trump than the calamity in their own backyard.

MTB questions

Hello everyone.

Looking forward to visiting your area.

5 days with family, staying in Creekside at the beginning of July.

A keen and experienced mountain biker, both in and outside the bike park, I have some questions to make the most of my trip. I'm planning two half-days of riding and the rest of the time for other activities (hiking, etc.).

Which option is the best?

- Spend money renting a bike and get a day pass for the bike park.

- Rent an e-bike and explore the trails outside the bike park. Is it worth it?

- Are there any must-see spots around Squamish?

Basically, if you have any ideas or tips, thank you very much!

Benjamin, from Lyon, France.

Benjamin, from Lyon, France.

July trip, no car

We're flying into Vancouver and taking a bus/shuttle to Whistler, staying at Hi Whistler Hostel (about 15-20 min out of town?). Will have no car.

How hard will it be to get to the bike park? What about to hike? And zipline?

Thanks, from this tight-budget parent

Whistler in October

We are going to be in Vancouver the week after Thanksgiving, and my son wants to spend time in the mountains… Is Whistler worth it in the shoulder season? I know the tourists are gone and the skiing hasn’t started - is there anything in the townsite worth doing? Even just for a day trip?

Cancellation After $49 Down Payment

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone else has had experience dealing with this.

I know AFTER the pass is issued and once the relevant season has started, you can request for a refund if you have an eligible event occurrence.

If you've paid the $49 deposit/down payment for the upcoming 2026/2027 season for an epic pass or an edge card, and the remaining balance has yet to be charged (due in the fall) and the passes are yet to be issued, what are the options or steps for cancellation if you're willing to forfeit the $49?

I've reached out to Whistler Vail and they've been unhelpful, they just respond that no refunds are allowed... but this isn't a refund, it's a cancellation request, for something that hasn't been charged and hasn't been issued.

I finally realized what the standard Aussie haircut in Whistler reminds me of

It’s been bothering me and on the tip of my tongue for two years and it hit me today

Peak to peak but Skybridge closed?

Coming to Whistler with teen early June (doing the 5k run together). Is it worth doing the Peak 2 Peak if the skybridge is closed? How much time do we need for Peak 2 Peak- ok to head there in the afternoon and spend a few hours? Not worth it if it’s rainy (no views)?

Whistler 2027

Hello all!

Planning a trip to Whistler for next winter season with my buddy. Could you guys please tell me your thoughts on the optimal window for a week in Whistler?

Obviously it depends every year especially with the recent season that was tough but wondering if you guys have a preference or rule of thumb as far as a safe window?

Thank you very much !!

EDIT: To be clear i’m asking for optimal in terms of WEATHER. My buddy and I are ready to take the L on pricing. Thanks !

Vancouver to whistler transportation ?

Last year we took whistler connection shuttle from Vancouver airport to Whistler. The trip there was great but the trip back to the airport wasn’t.

Anyone know a better option to get from Vancouver to Whistler with two bikes and four people?
Thanks

RIP A-Line tech section

Are they ever gonna stop building new berms? The entire park will be machine built berms, any hint of a rock or a root will immediately be bermed over. Tech runs will be outlawed and you’ll have to ride the woke single track trails outside of the park. Other than that the park is amazing and thanks for opening it a day early for staff ❤️

A trip to Whistler - August 1989

Thought this sub might appreciate this family home video of a trip to Whistler in 1989.

If anyone has any information, facts or stories please post so we can add it to the archive.

Summer Storage Wax?

Hey there, I seem to have missed the cut off in a lot of the shops to get some summer wax thrown on my skis. And no, I don’t have an iron or wax to just do it myself. Does anybody know who might still be doing summer storage wax in and around Whistler? TIA!

Driveway Aesthetics

Does anyone have any experience to share regarding staining driveway vs. complete removal & re-do? It sounds like a good alternative to stain vs. replace, but I've never seen one or talked to anyone about them. Thanks.
