Whites Packer Table Sept. 2024

Saw another member post on Whites Packers, thought folks would enjoy seeing this video. Looks like prices have gone up by $70-75 since 2024.

Is there a Tuff Toe equivalent for rubber soles?

Basically the title. I don’t use Tuff Toe for my work boots because I don’t need to, but I’d love Tuff Sole to exist.

I’m a blacksmith and my shop floor is concrete covered in a mixture of abrasive dust, steel particles of all sizes, forge scale, sand, and borax.

I am currently wearing White’s Millwood 6” boots with the “hybrid wedge” sole.

It’s holding up great, all things considered, but if there was a coating that would give me more time between resolings I would use it.

Anything like that exist? A product, an old timey mixture of poisonous compounds, an alternative? I’d love to hear it if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks for reading, I hope you all have a great day.

World’s Shortest Smokejumper

Just kidding! These are the LTT Oxfords in Maryam Muschio Horsebutt on the C461 Last with a Vibram Composition Half-Sole. As usual, working with Baker’s Boots on custom White’s is always a pleasure. I always receive fantastic customer service from them.

Later this week I’m expecting my final 2 pairs from Baker’s from the Black Friday Sale. One is an 8” Bounty Hunter with inside lineman’s flap in Maryam Natural Horsebutt. The other is an 8” MP with medallion toe-cap in Maryam Toscanello Horsehide. I expect both of those to be real bangers. I didn’t realize when I ordered 3 pairs on the same last that I became my own production log jam due to White’s not having multiples of the C461 in 11.5E. They couldn’t last the next pair until the first pair was finished. I’ve been seeing others get their Black Friday boots over the last month. Now I know why mine took longer.

White’s 350 original cruiser toe cap

Greetings from Australia!

New boots day!! These puppies rocked through the door this afternoon, and I’m absolutely stunned by everything about them.
I originally returned a pair of White’s 350 Cutters in 9.5D because they just weren’t fitting right. The plan was to exchange them for the same Cutter in 10D, but at the last minute decided to go with the original Cruiser Toe Cap in 10D instead. Best decision I’ve ever made.

Just wanted to say thanks so much to everyone who answered my silly questions about the 350 Cutter a few months ago. I think I made like a million different posts before purchasing the cutters I returned as I had no prior experience with pnw stuff, If it wasn’t for y’all, I would’ve been completely lost. Wish y’all Godspeed! Cheers

Waxed Essex

Glad I grabbed these during the holidays. I didn’t need any more boots, with a handful of pairs already and a few on the way from another, mildly slower bootmaker. But I hadn’t seen this leather before and thought I should jump on it especially when they went on sale. Super cool boots. I have other boots on the 55 and it’s neat to see how much a difference the leather makes in how they feel. I think they’re lookers as well

Whites insulated Hunters

Sitting by the fire on a snowy spring morning, putting off chores and admiring these boots. You don't see many of these boots in the wild, so of anyone has questions, ask away.

Whites Vs Bakers

I am new to Whites boots. I noticed there are more options on the Bakers site to build a boot than on the Whites. Site. Is this just a matter of calling Whites to order it my way?

55 Last change -Packers

I have a White’s Packers and it’s amazing but off late the heal is bothering my back. Is it possible to change the last type to MP or any other flat last I did resole? Anyone has done this?

Sizing and fit question

I just received my whites MP Sherman in 5050 last size 11E. My brannock size is 10.5EE. Whites recommend 11E after sending my sketches. Does the flex point and the location of my widest part of my foot look right to be in the position, also I have provided where my end of my toe is, I do have a very minimal heal slip, and but I feel like my heal is not fully locked in, and I feel like I can move it left to right just abit. What’s your thought, it’s my first whites boots, also I feel like I can wiggle my toes comfortably

New/Used Boot Day

Got the boots in, and definitely not fake. Much nicer condition than expected. I'm assuming these are cinnamon waxed flesh. Hardly any wear on the soles. Fit seems good, maybe a little roomy volume wise, but length is perfect. These are 10D and I am 10.5D on the brannock. I'm sure thicker socks or an insole would take care of it. These are my first PNW boots, and I really like them!

White’s bite and break-in

Hey y’all,

I am having a terrible time with my White’s Crew Boots.

Long story: I bought a pair in the fall last year because I was slated to participate in an Rx burn. The Crew Boot stood out to me as a great starter boot - it’s less expensive than many other of the fire boots and I had heard great things about White’s. I have never had a PNW style boot or any handmade boots for that matter; I normally wear a 10.5-11 wide in most shoes and boots. I ended up measuring my foot based on their protocols and landed on 9.5EE. I ended up getting them in a few weeks before the fire but there was some QC issues that customer service was quick to address and send me a return label. Awesome communication and effort!

Unfortunately, the second pair didn’t make it in time for my Rx burn so I ended up getting a pair of Danner Tactical Wildland Fire boots (hiker style boots) for the burn. They got me through the fire just fine but ended up delaminating at the toe cup. So I sent those back and got a credit. Oh well, figured I would use that to get some work boots or something eventually. Not a huge fan of hiker style boots.

I started wearing my White’s at the beginning of this year - mainly at work and around town, some short hikes and such. Thick socks (Darn Tough full cushion) still didn’t cut it. Started getting a bite at the base of my shin/foot on both feet. Hot spots at the heel; tried moleskin before hikes and seemed to help, but I kept my hikes short since they were hurting my feet, generally. Normal walking, totally fine. Steep slopes and loose terrain, painful. I’ve conditioned them twice now using Bick LP and Bick 4. The leather seemed to soften up somewhat and it restored some of the moisture to the leather. Super dry climate here in the SW.

I just went on a long hike for PT (I am working as an AD FFT2 for the state this summer) and damn near destroyed my feet. The last mile I hiked back in just my socks. I’ve definitely got over 200 miles in these boots by now but they’re terribly uncomfortable. Did I size wrong? Too wide? If I alleviate the bite in the front by changing my lacing pattern or letting more slack, I get heel slip and more hotspots on the heel and today on multiple toes. They feel like they fit pretty well when I first get em on, but soon as I start climbing they get painful. I retightened them throughout the hike and by the end I just had to take them off.

Should I try the soak overnight and wear till dry method? Should I try thicker insoles and maybe another set of kilties? Should I condition them again and even inside the boot, focusing on the heel cup? I’ve tried wearing two pairs of socks, liners, and various thick padded socks. Should I just sell these on eBay and save up for some JKs, Drew’s or different brand? I don’t have the money or time before the season starts for another PNW boot, I think, so may end up with some Danners for this season. I really wanted to have rebuildable fire boots since I am in school for Forestry and plan to pursue Wildland Fire.

TLDR: White’s Crew fire boots are killing my feet no matter what I do. Need suggestions on how to proceed.

Thanks!

4811 compared to 55 Last?

I find the 55 last in D width to be perfect for me. But am just now reading that the 4811 has a higher arch support. Will the toe box still have the same proportions as the 55? I am very particular about not wanting more toe room.

Also, why is the Line Scout so much more affordable than the other 4811 boots? Is it just because it's less popular?
