Ublx won’t work

Hi Guys I recently homebrew my wii and now USBLX won’t work, in the beginning i had all my games and I changed the iOS loader and it worked but my games would not load. So I redid the whole modding process and whenI tried everything and I put my games on my external HDD and when I plugged my HDD in, it says reinitializing device and it’s just stuck there so I changed the iOS loader and it’s still doing the same thing . How do I fix it and how do I get my games to load

Ways to safely download Wii & WiiU games?

I’ve got an old WiiU I just picked up and I really want to figure out a good way to download a bunch of Wii and WiiU games onto a hard drive or something so I can access and play them on the WiiU. However, I’ve never really done anything like this before so I’m a little worried about trying to figure it out myself and risk bricking my WiiU or downloading straight malware. Any advice on how to download those games (and even on how to make the accessible on my WiiU) would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

TL;DR: good ways to safely download wii and wiiU games for my wiiU? Tips for beginners?

Just got these! Do i need a Y-cable?

I got the ssd for free and bought this enclosure for it.

I am planning to have homebrew on a sd card and the wiiu/vwii/gamecube games on the ssd with the new isfshax method.

Do i need a y cable for this?

EDIT: Someone said that i need to get a self powered Enclosure and then i dont need a y cable anymore. Because he had with a y-cable problems with two particular games called star fox zero and breath of the wild. I think thats a good point. What do you think about this?

Guide - How to fully restore/unbrick your vWii NAND without a backup (Using vWii Decaffeinator)

If your virtual Wii (vWii) is corrupted, bricks on launch, or fails to boot and you don't have a nand backup, you can completely restore it to factory settings without needing a prior NAND backup.

I'm making this guide because I see how different people try to restore their vWii and face different errors when trying to restore it by using different tools.

This method uses vWii Decaffeinator to wipe the corrupted vWii NAND and forces the official Wii U system update to download and reinstall a clean vWii system.

────────────────────────────

⚠️ IMPORTANT PREREQUISITES & WARNINGS

  • Remove all Wii Discs & USB Devices: Eject any game disc and unplug all external hard drives/flash drives before starting. Leave only your SD card inserted.

  • System Version: Your Wii U must already be on the latest firmware (5.5.5 or 5.5.6, depending on the region) and running the Aroma custom firmware.

  • Theme Warning: Ensure you are using the default, stock Wii U menu theme. If you have custom themes installed (via Utheme, etc.), remove them first to avoid a console freeze.

  • Internet Connection: A stable Wi-Fi connection is required on your Wii U to download the fresh vWii files.

────────────────────────────

STEP 1: Prepare the SD Card & vWii Decaffeinator

  1. Download the latest .wuhb version of vWii Decaffeinator (do not use the old .rpx version).

  2. Connect your SD card to your PC.

  3. Move the decaffeinator.wuhb file inside the sd:/wiiu/apps/ folder.

  4. Safely eject the SD card and put it back into your Wii U.

────────────────────────────

STEP 2: Unblock System Updates

  1. Turn on your Wii U while holding the button on your GamePad/Controller to access the Environment Loader menu.

  2. Look at the bottom of the screen. If it says Updates Blocked, press and together until it changes to Updates Not Blocked.

  3. Highlight Wii U Menu, press to set it as default Autoboot (the text will turn yellow), then press to boot into the menu.

  4. (Optional) If a prompt appears warning you that an update folder exists, skip or dismiss it.

────────────────────────────

STEP 3: Configure FTPiiU & Run Decaffeinator

  1. Crucial Fix: If Decaffeinator gives you a "Failed to mount..." error, return to the Wii U Menu. Open the Aroma WUT Connect menu via the button combo (L + Down D-Pad + Minus). Go to ftpiiu → set Allow access to system files to FALSE.

  2. Launch vWii Decaffeinator from your Wii U Menu.

  3. If you suspect your vWii brick was caused recently by installing a corrupted channel (WAD file) or a bad channel banner, you don't necessarily have to wipe everything. In vWii Decaffeinator, you can select Light Mode instead of Aggressive Mode. It will only delete and rebuild the core vWii system files, but it will preserve your save files and installed homebrew channels. If Light Mode doesn't fix the issue, you can always go back and run the process again. Select Aggressive Mode. This will safely wipe your corrupted vWii NAND. Confirm and bypass the warning by pressing .

  4. Once finished, the app will automatically redirect you to System Settings. Do not update yet! Exit the System Settings and return to the Wii U Menu

────────────────────────────

STEP 4: Disable Aroma Autoboot Temporarily

  1. Open the Payload-Loader Installer app from your Wii U Menu.

  2. Select CheckBoot Options.

  3. Select Switch back to Wii U Menu.

  4. Pay attention: near this option it says that this option could make the Wii U unusable if there's anything modified (for example a custom theme installed) but this option is safe. After that, press to shut down the console.

────────────────────────────

STEP 5: Reinstall the vWii NAND via System Update

  1. Turn on your console normally (it will boot into standard stock firmware without Aroma).

  2. Go to System SettingsSystem Update.

  3. Start the update. The console will realize the vWii partition is missing and will safely download and install a fresh, clean vWii NAND. This process takes about 10–20 minutes.

  4. Once completed, reboot and test your vWii channel to ensure it functions perfectly.

────────────────────────────

STEP 6: Re-enable Aroma Autoboot

After you have verified the vWii perfectly works, it is now time to turn back to the Autoboot.

  1. Launch the Health and Safety app (or your entry point, so in the normal Wii U Menu) to trigger Aroma.

  2. Once it loads, open Payload-Loader Installer again.

  3. Go to CheckBoot OptionsSwitch to Payload-Loader.

  4. Press to shut down.

  5. Turn on the console, hold , and use the and combo to Block Updates again so your console stays safe.

Your original vWii is now fully restored and clean! Don't forget to make a NAND backup with nanddumper now that it is working properly, so you won't have to do all this process again.

Hope this guide helps the people who are trying to get their vWii back.

Using a modded Wii U as a Modded Wii

I have been considering buying a modded Wii U instead of a modded Wii because I heard it can run essentially all Wii games upscaled to 1080p, but I still have a few doubts about it.

- How well do Wii games run on Wii U? Are there issues with the upscaling? If so, can those issues be addressed in some way? And if not, are those scaling issues that bad in the first place or can they be described as nitpicks?

- Can I use Wii homebrew apps on Wii U via the Wii menu mode? For example, I want to play CTGP-R and connect to private servers to play Wii games online. Is this possible on Wii U?

Why does is the only difference between these 2 versions a capital t

Hopefully I ain't breaking rules by putting this here but in 'How To Survive' the American version doesn't have a capital T, it's weird since all the other letters are capital

Should I log in with my NNID before setting up pretendo?

So I bought a used Wii U and I’m wondering if I should login with my Nintendo ID before installing pretendo and logging it in with my pretendo ID, or should I just not do that? Also can I use the same pretendo ID I used on my 3ds? Thank you!

Wondering what are the best evWii values are and not spend hours searching like i did? (help me) your savior has arrived! (Repost)

For context: I tried uploading this helpful info that might help a lot of people in the community and potentially save them a lot of time, I originally posted it to r/WiiUHacks and I waited for a moderator approval about 2 days with no post being uploaded or approved (even on my alt account), so I'm uploading it here, hope there isn't any mod approval of some sorts here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey everyone!

If you’ve been messing around with the evWii plugin on Aroma, you probably know the exact pain I just went through. Nintendo’s default vWii scaling leaves annoying overscan/borders, and finding actual solid display numbers for the config file online feels impossible.

After falling down a massive rabbit hole of testing and fine-tuning the DMCU viewport parameters, I finally dialed in values that give you a clean picture without clipping or leaving ugly borders.

If you’re ready to finally end the suffering and fix your config file once and for all, paste these numbers in:

My personal values

Results on my TV in Mario Galaxy 1:

Now, if you don't want those black bars on the left and right sides of the screen these are the settings for you! (these are the values that I used before and posted in r/WiiUHacks 4 months ago):

Pure 16:9 Values (Also great for Gamecube games)

Didn't take a photo of these values on my TV, but trust me, it's the exact same as the first config—just without the side black bars so it's pure 16:9.

Here's my old post if you're interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/WiiUHacks/s/15bSzZsnFU

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The best values for GameCube?:

GameCube testing status:

Value 1: Didn't test, didn't have time.

Value 2: Tested, verified, looks amazing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TL;DR: Stop guessing numbers, paste MY config, and go play your games. You're welcome!

If this helped you, great! If your screen still looks weird... well, at least we suffered together. Enjoy!

I CAN'T LOAD HOMEBREW VIA SD ON VWII CORRECTLY

So for starters, i already tried 26 Sd cards, 32gb - 4gb All formatted on all formats Possible, I tried my 3ds sd, my camera sd, my phone sd etc etc NONE WORKED, they only work on my wii u, not inside Vwii, I'll get really angry if anyone says "uhh you tried to format your sd correctly?" i swear that destroys my mood, i've been having this problem since i've got that console, and you guys don't know how many times i read that..

So basically on my Vwii i can't load any homebrew apps and Homebrew launcher CRASHES when trying to load onto sd. DSI EXCEPTION ERROR

So tried an usb, Yanmwii, cios installer, those worked, so i tried.. maybe.. installing a Usb loader gx Wad on my wii menu, and.. nope crashes, tried loading usb loader gx from my usb, buut, it loads in, but Can't initialize usb, And can't use sd from there

So I tried installing some wiiware, those worked, and, I Can actually TRANSFER THEM to my sd and use them from there, so WHAT THE FUCK, IDK WHERE'S THE FUCKING PROBLEM

-

Then.. wanted to play nintendon't, wow. It loads from my usb, but can't control it with my Wii u gamepad duh, and i dont have wiimote pro controller.

so i tried installing it on my Wii u meny, an .app from tutorials i've seen, and.. those load the files from sd.. so..... When trying to go into nintendon't from Wii u menu, It... loads!.. buut.. it says No fat device Found, and closes.. so.. basically my wii u rn only works for wii u games.. and That sucks.

one of the main reasons I bought this is for that, without that I feel like my system sucks and it's incomplete, and it stings me.

Changed My SD Card, Now Getting an Error.

I changed my **16 GB SD card** to a **32 GB microSD** card with an adapter. I copied all the files from the old card to the new one, but now I'm getting the following error:

**"Failed to load sd:/wiiu/payload.elf. Starting the console without any modifications."**

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Need help on deciding sd card or external hard drive? Maybe both?

I bought a never modded Wii U recently. I wanted to mod it and of course i need a hard drive or sd card. Currently i can only use a 16 gb micro sd card on my home.

My first idea was to buy a 256 gb normal micro sd card and use SDUSB with it, but i heard that they broke within months and that you need a high endurance card which they are expensive. My current idea was to use that 16 gb micro sd card for only the homebrew and buy a large external hard drive just for the wiiu/vwii/gamecube games.

Which idea or alternative idea is the best? Are the wii u games playable from a external hard drive? Because they are not in full speed compare to a sd card and i am thinking of some rendering popups could happen in gameplay but dont know if thats true.

Homebrew storage question

Hi. Got a wii u. I'm planing on putting homebrew on it. I have a external hard drive that works. Saw that now days you can put both homebrew and games and skip using sd card for hombrew. Is there any advantage buying a SD card for homebrew apps over using hdd for both games and apps?
