Windows needs a feature like KDE's "Unredirect Fullscreen" to kill DWM overhead during gaming
Independent Flip is good, but DWM is still running and allocating VRAM in the background. Suspending it completely like KDE does is the only way to fully eliminate frame pacing issues on mixed refresh rate multi-monitor setups. It's about giving power users a choice for zero OS overhead, upvote if you want support this feature(if you want, i don't care if not) https://aka.ms/AA11syb6
Third Party Antiviruses are TERRIBLE
So, I was trying to install an APK editor for Windows. I had no idea the one I found was a scam, so I downloaded it and ran the installer. It asked for administrator permissions, I clicked Allow, and then it "failed."
Except... it didn't just fail.
It somehow managed to install Opera GX and Avast One anyway.
Cue the panic.
I immediately opened the Apps section in Settings and tried to uninstall Avast. It asked for administrator permissions again, so I clicked Allow. A little window popped up, said "Loading," and then immediately closed. Nothing happened.
Great.
So I opened Task Manager to kill it manually. There were at least eight different Avast processes running—Installer, Antivirus, Cyber Security, and who knows what else. I started ending them one by one, but they just kept coming back. When I finally found the process that was relaunching everything and tried to end that, Windows hit me with the classic:
"Access Denied."
At this point, I was already losing my mind.
Fine. I'll delete it manually.
I went into Program Files, found the Avast folder, selected everything, hit Delete...
"This action requires administrator permissions."
...Excuse me?
I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR.
How are you telling me I need administrator permissions on my own PC?
I gave up on Avast for the moment and uninstalled Opera GX instead (because apparently that thing shows up every single time you accidentally download something sketchy).
After searching around, I found out Avast has an official uninstall tool. After everything that had already happened, I trusted it about as much as I'd trust a random EXE named DefinitelyNotAVirus.exe, but it was my last option.
I ran it.
It got to 97%...
...and froze.
Perfect.
I opened Task Manager again and noticed the Avast processes were finally disappearing. Three were still running, so I force-closed them.
I checked if Avast was gone.
Nope.
Still there.
So, for one final attempt, I went back into Settings and clicked Uninstall again.
Somehow...
It actually worked.
Avast was finally gone.
That entire 30-minute experience was absolute HELL.
I genuinely cannot stand these fake installers that bundle random software onto your PC. And why is it always Opera GX? I swear that browser has mastered the art of appearing where nobody asked for it.
Can we also stop pretending these bloated third-party antivirus programs are necessary? Microsoft Defender used to deserve all the criticism it got, but it's improved a ton over the years. For the average person, it's more than enough.
Looking back, almost every terrible antivirus-related experience I've had has involved Avast.
Never again.
Have you ever had any of these experiences with Avast or Other Apps/Antiviruses? What Happened?

Microsoft’s leaked Aion prototype is not a Windows replacement, but a 2024 experiment in AI-first desktop design.
- Project Aion is a 2024 Microsoft internal prototype, not a shipping product or Windows replacement.
- It explores an AI-first desktop interface centered on Copilot, using web apps instead of traditional Windows apps.
- The system reportedly runs on top of Windows 11, acting more like a shell than a full operating system.
- It relies on Windows 365 Cloud PCs for legacy apps, suggesting a cloud-augmented desktop concept.
- The project reflects Microsoft’s experimental work on agent-driven computing, not a confirmed roadmap for Windows 11 or future releases.
Windows 11 can now run Linux containers with WSL Containers, no Docker Desktop needed (hands on)
windowslatest.comGenuinely why is this subreddit so insufferable???
Every comment section, every "Rate my Windows Desktop".. every question asked, every concept being introduced, everyone is insufferable and always downvoting/hating on everyone. Linux users shoving the "switch to Linux" down everyone's throat. We can all do better to be honest and honourable mention to everyone who supports other people and always advise everyone else. Any way to rebind this button on the taskbar to open Powertoys run instead of the start menu?

It is more stable and fluid than the 25h2
macOS VS Windows – User Experience
Many say macOS is better, and that's certainly true. Recently, I wondered what the biggest difference is. Then I realized: macOS also sometimes freezes, but the freeze feels different than on Windows. When something freezes on macOS, it feels less severe than on Windows. For example, if a program freezes on macOS, it doesn't affect the rest of the operating system. And when the cancel dialog appears, you can actually cancel. On Windows, when something freezes, the entire Explorer often crashes, and nothing works anymore. Or the "Force Quit" button doesn't work. Is this just my impression?

windowslatest.comThis stupid ppc folder has been making my C drive jumping from around 500mb-20gb of free storage only. Thanks to SpaceSniffer Program for solving this issue.
At first, i thought it was this one Filmora 12 Pirated version that was eating up all my storage but after deleting it, nothing much happened so i had no choice but to download third party programs to solve this issue and surprisingly it worked. (THIS IS NOT AN AD BTW)
