Things to do/attractions/food this weekend

Hi myself and my girlfriend are staying in Worthing (near titch hill) from Wednesday til Saturday and would love some local recommendations as I haven't found much past the basic obvious stuff so far.

We are both chefs so are interested in restaurants as well as a good butchers and fishmongers.

We are quite keen on the outdoors (myself in birdeatching too) so would be interested in any small hikes/walks especially around where we are staying, as well as being keen foragers so would be interested in any good areas. We are coming from London and looking to enjoy some time in nature

We would have loved to visit the fig gardens if they had been open during our stay

We will be coming in to Worthing centre once or twice so if there's anything going on tat we shouldn't miss, we would love to hear about it!

Looking forward to our visit, thanks

is strand parade outside of durrington station really that bad?

Hi all. Londoner looking to relocate to Worthing for a job and looking for flats. Read a few posts here saying that that’s definitely an area to avoid and it’s made me kind of nervous. I’ve been around there more than once during the day but never in the evening, and I’ll be viewing a flat there in a few days that seemingly fits all my other requirements….how (un)safe would it be for a woman to walk alone from the station to the building next to the gas station/asda express around 11:30pm? I work in healthcare and half of my shifts finish at 11pm and I’ll likely be taking the train home from Worthing station. I’m moving from SE London and different online databases all suggest that where I’m currently living has more crime than there but also I’ve not had to regularly get home from work at 11pm before. Many thanks in advance for any comments or advice.

Also…what is the housing market like here? Do I still have time if I’m looking to move by the start of October? I’ve looked for two weeks with no success. Also why are so many flats on the ground floor?? (this is one of the few things I definitely don’t want)

So much rubbish near Durrington Tesco

Does anyone know why there's so much rubbish everywhere near the big Tesco?? I don't think it's related to the shop doing anything bad (hopefully!), but that's why I'm so confused. I sometimes walk that way to take my dog over to Northbrook but can't believe how much trash is spread across the paths nearby. Anyone got any ideas??

Petg 3d print?

This is the first time I’ve ever thought of having something 3D printed. Is there anyone in the Worthing locality who has the capability of printing this item?

Worthings experimental/classical/global music scene

Hey all! Me and my partner have the chance to move from London down to your beautiful town! I'm just wondering, as I'm an experimental performer/composer, what kinds of venues/scenes there are around the area?

I also ran/run an experimental global music jam in London centred on live-improv with a mix of western, electronic and global instruments and ideally would love to carry that on around here, whether anyone is in the know of anything like that?

Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated!

Here is an example of the kind of music I write for context: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Vyl1EmdrVQ

Thanks!!

Local Characters Past & Present

Anyone here got some local characters they're aware of / interacted with in the past or present?

I'll start:

- 50p lady. She is always looking for 50p and is normally seen carrying a coffee mug around (possibly for the 50ps).

- Man with snake on his face. He's usually up to no good, as you might expect from a man with a snake on his face.

- Guildbourne Gobbler. Enough said.

Can anyone help us find a few specific issues of The Argus

Hi everyone.

My partner put out a series of adverts for her dance business in The Argus, specifically issues:

- Brighton Argus 24th July

- Brighton Argus 30th July

She spent almost £400 (on a deal they gave her) to advertise a full page spread in both of these issues. She got absolutely no callbacks from these ads, and she is wondering if they even published the advert at all.

Unfortunately she was away on vacation when the newspaper issues were released so she couldn't get a copy for herself to check.

Would really appreciate anyone who could help us.

The adverts were for 'Wannado Street Dance', a dance company based in Worthing.

Thanks guys :)

Burning acrid plastic smell West Worthing

The smell has been constant all morning. I can't see any smoke or fires. I was wondering if it is local or this could be something else. Possibly the leftovers from the New Forest fire last night?

Where to buy solar eclipse glasses?

Anyone know where I can pick up a pair of solar eclipse glasses? I know they sell them on amazon but I can't seem to find any that will arrive in time (that isn't a 50 pack)...
Anyone seen them in any shops?
