Wplace UN Power Assessment for October 2026

Alright everyone, it is October. As we are starting a new month, it is time for the power rankings to be updated. Here we go:

  1. India: Once again, India takes first place. As with last time, it is not hard to see why they are up here: They have an incredibly high population mixed with high nationalism, resulting in a huge pool of painters for r/wplaceindia to draw from for their defense. Our analysts deem it likely that India will maintain this spot for the foreseeable future.
  2. European Union of Socialist Republics(EUSR): The EUSR has just about managed to secure second place from Turkey. After discovering that Bozkurtlar was a separate group from wplacetr, Turkey was determined to have less power than the EUSR, which was also found during the Fourth European War, where, at least for now, the EUSR has held off against Turkey and has actually launched counterattacks. However, with La Commune now playing a very large role in the country, some broader opponents of La Commune across all of wplace have been attracted to the Pacific Map, which could cause problems for the EUSR in the future.
  3. Turkey: While dropping to third place, the distance between the EUSR and Turkey is quite small. Both countries are still at war with each other, and their power fluctuates greatly every day. Turkey exerts significant influence over Turan and Bozkurtlar, who have come to their aid in the war. Overall, wplacetr remains a formidable force on the map, and it is unlikely that they will be defeated any time soon.
  4. Russia: After Ruspixel mobilized to defeat Karelia and the Sami on the Kabul map, Russia has become the second strongest nation on that map, while holding off against sporadic EUSR and Turanist attacks in the Pacific. Ruspixel now effectively manages all of Russia's foreign affairs, and has shown to be far more interested in the affairs of other countries than Russia's previous leader, u/_Riveting. With Russia now making a lasting peace deal with Turan on the Pacific map, it seems Russia has established itself as one of the major players in the Eurasian System, and has closed the gap to the top three.
  5. Turan: After achieving peace with Russia, Turan has somewhat rebounded, playing a crucial role in supporting Turkey on the Pacific map during the Fourth European War. Turan has maintained control over Iran and China, and is continuing to attempt to better relations with its neighbors. Turanist painters have also been found supporting Bozkurtlar expansion into Africa, expanding the range of Turkic influence. Turan continues to be a major force in the Pacific map.
  6. The United States: The US continues to remain relatively isolationist. While some group of painters, led by u/_Riveting, has completed some interventions in the Middle East and Europe, most US painters simply remain in the US. As the least attacked major power, the strength of the US is yet to be truly tested.
  7. Taiwan: Taiwan has successfully kept China down, now removing them from both major world maps. While Turanist forces are slowly losing interest in China, WplaceTaiwan continues to remain active in ensuring the PRC does not return. After the PRC lost its great power status, it seems Taiwan, with partners in Korea and the separatist states, has established itself as a dominant force in East Asia.
  8. Bozkurtlar: Bozkurtlar is the group in control over the Arabian Peninsula on the Pacific map. They are aligned with Turkey and Turan, and have begun expansion into Sudan and Ethiopia. They have grown rapidly, attracting many members of wplacetr and Turanizm, while using the European war to their advantage to gain land in Africa. While La Commune and the US stopped them in Egypt, neither nation seems ready to commit forces to an intervention in Sudan or Ethiopia to stop them. Bozkurtlar has established itself as the third major Turkic power, and seems set to grow further.
  9. Korea: The Republic of Korea has warded off DPRK supporters, and with UN help, has gained full control over their own peninsula. Having close ties with Taiwan, India, and even the US, Korea has stabilized its position on both world maps. After gaining UN membership, Korea is becoming a key part of East Asian diplomacy.
  10. Ukraine: Unlike other countries, Ukraine relies heavily on foreign painters to support itself. Most painters you will find in Ukraine on the Kabul map are passersby, helping to deal with griefing. However, the sheer amount of support for Ukraine has allowed it to claw its way into the top ten, with both maps now having developed intricate patterns and having dedicated defenders. Ukraine's relations with Russia have actually improved, as Russia slowly liberalized and Ukraine lost its ally in the EU, resulting in both nations having more common ground. Today, Ukraine is subject to much less griefing than most nations.

Here are some interesting things I noted:

- China has fallen off of the list entirely, as it has failed to consolidate to reclaim any land. As it has now also lost its great power status in the UN, it seems China has gone far downhill.

- The gap between India(1st) and the EUSR(2nd) in terms of power is greater than the gap between the EUSR and Taiwan(7th) as India simply has far more painters to work with than any other country. Even individual Indian groups, like the Chainwalkers and Headhunters, would be able to land on the list if they were their own states.

- Europe and Turkey continue to fluctuate, as since both nations are small in terms of pixel area, it is easy for a small group of painters to cause major damage, even if it gets quickly reversed.

- Of all of these nations, Bozkurtlar is the only one without a UN seat

See you all again in a month.
