AI vs

I suck at thumbnails. I thought the AI thumbnails looked good but had many comments from viewers they would never watch my channel again if I continued using generative AI to make thumbnails. I guess that makes sense because pinball is an analogue game so people who enjoy pinball don't want AI images in the videos they watch.

I'll be keeping an eye on CTR and see if the new non-AI thumbs do better than what I originally had.

Which of these 3 thumbnails is better?

A new video is now available on my channel. These 3 thumbnails are currently running in an A/B test.

All of them were created completely by hand. I'd really appreciate the community's honest opinion on which one works best.

Thank you in advance!

What would you change?

  • Title: ULTRAGAMA - SOLDES | Live Boiler French House (Analog)
  • Summary: My band plays house music with instruments (drums, guitars, synths). This is a live session video where the crowd is around us, like a boiler room set.

All kinds of critique are welcome, I'm kinda new to the thumbnail world. Thank you. ✌️

This didn't do well

Title: Reacting to dumbest cheapskate

The video includes me reacting to clips about this man whose wife is a well known cheapskate. It didn't get many views and I don't know if it's because of the thumbnail. So that's why I'm posting, is this too much?

After Feedback decided to change Thumbail Style

Yesterday Uploaded a a few Thumbnails ideas for a video, want to give a “YouTube” vibe to it, don’t know if that makes sense or not. Anyway realized that maybe I would doubt myself so much if instead of making a thumbnail that would appeal anyone, first it should appeal to me, from a stylistic point of view. Now this is the style I’m going to what do you think? Context for thumbnail* My next video will be about Cabo Verde’s Workd cup run, I have 3 options.

Title: How a Nazi Pesticide Became the World's Deadliest Weapon

A deep-dive investigation into the history of Sarin gas, from its accidental synthesis in Nazi Germany to the Tokyo subway attack.

I styled it as a dark rotoscope graphic novel. Any thoughts on readability on mobile, text design, and overall impact?

Wuld do you click on this thumbnail. What can I do to improve it?

Video title: the romanticization of abuse in n citrus

The videos around 10 minutes long. I talk about how this anime citrus romanticizes abuse inside of its content.

I'm just looking for content I can use to improve the thumbnail so more people would click on it cuz I feel like it's a good video but people aren't clicking on it. I feel like that's because the thumbnail's not good enough

Be honest: Would this thumbnail make you click on the video? Does it create enough curiosity

In this video, we explore some of the darkest, saddest, and most shocking deaths of Spider-Man across comics

Out of all seven of these thumbnails, which one do you think it's the best

Out of all 7 of the thumbnails, which one are you most likely to click on? Which one do you think is the best?

Which One Is The Best?

Title: The Real Reason Pokemon Fans Are Skipping This Set

Summary: Me Opening the Perfect Order ETB and exploring why people seem to hate this set and the chase cards that are inside it.

Also would appreciate any constructive criticism!

Does this grab your attention? Is the top text readable?

Title: "WOAH!! Yooka-Laylee Kart Looks WILD!!!"

Hey everyone!!

I own a channel who focuses on *Yooka-Laylee* games and news surrounding it.

For context, this is a *Yooka-Laylee* game called "*Super Yooka-Laylee Kart".* The community was a bit bummed that this game isn't going the *Diddy Kong Racing* game design route, so my thought process is to be a bit "rage" clickbaity but to hype people into the new game by discussing the features of the game.

The top, black text box is reniscent of the dialogue boxes from *Yooka-Laylee*. The Diddy Kong drawing was done by a super close friend of mine. The thumbnail style is inspired by the One Piece YouTuber **GrandLineReview** who previously gave me free advice on creating thumbnails. His thumbnail style is a lot more busier than most others.

Let me know what you think! Thanks!!

Which one Would You Click? And Which One You Wont?

Title 1: Why I Hate Python
Title 2: Why I HATE Python

Title 3: Python For The Haters
Title 4: Python For The Haters

Summary:
This is a rant-style video where I roast some aspects of Python and talk about the things I dislike about it. Many Python developers will probably agree with at least some of these points.

I need help deciding which thumbnail and title would perform better.

  • Thumbnail 1: Simple and clean.
  • Thumbnail 2: Has more elements and is more detailed.
  • Thumbnail 3: Simple and clean.
  • Thumbnail 4: Has more elements and is more detailed.

Which thumbnail would you choose the first or the second Third or Fourth?

Also, which title do you think is better?

  • Why I Hate Python
  • Python for The Haters

I'm uploading the video today, so I'd really appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

Can anyone help pick out the best one?

Title: I Felt Bad For Persona 5's Worst Villains

Summary: This is my video essay on Persona 5, and how I replayed it again as an adult and came away with some pretty uncomfortable feelings. Namely the fact that I felt weirdly sympathetic towards the villains of the game, which if you dont know anything about the game, the villains are real big POS. My video is faceless, just quick edits and scenes while I talk over stuff.

How do you know if your thumbnail is good enough?

So, I've run into a problem. When I create thumbnails, I compare them to my best-performing ones, check how they look with VidIQ, and often come to the conclusion that the new thumbnail is fire—or even better than my best-performing one. But then the video flops.

After some time passes, I look back at those videos and thumbnails and realize they looked exactly as well as they actually performed.

So how do you actually test your packaging before uploading? Maybe I need to let it sit for a day and look at it again with fresh eyes? I don't think AI can help much with this—it will probably either suggest changes just for the sake of suggesting something or praise the thumbnail to make me feel better.

This community needs to grow up about AI

I genuinely do not understand this holier than thou ideology running rampant in this community. Why people think their personal opinions and stances on AI are relevant to feedback is beyond me. There are thousands of successful channels that not only use AI thumbnails, but have entire videos and channels ran on AI. You know why? Because the audience. Watches it.

People don’t care if it’s AI, they care if they’re entertained, informed, or distracted for however long they have. Your moral righteousness on AI has no barrings on the real world, and this line of thinking is exactly why some of you can not make successful thumbnails: You don’t know what people want. You make what you think people would want.

AI is a tool. Use or don’t. But get over self either way.
