Am I just bad at thumbnails?…titles…both?

I consistently think I make good titles and thumbnails but recently have been convince my thumbnails apparently suck. And that matches with my CTR being between 4-6% typically. I’ve taken ideas people said like have 1 focal point, minimal words, and some in a different color, and yet it still doesn’t perform well. Am I just blind to seeing what is a good idea??

Is this title and thumbnail combination not a good choice??

Help me figure out why my CTR isn’t performing well

Below I have two thumbnails. First one (Heavens Gate) is my most recent thumbnail that I thought I crushed.

Second one is a recent one, that I thought was good but people gave advice such as “have one focal point and less than 3 words, with 1 a different color” so I took that advice, made the first thumbnail, but my CTR got worse.

The second picture had an 8-10% CTR upon upload and then dropped down to 5-6%. The first thumbnail upon upload is only at 3% and impressions already flattened out at 300…….

Heavens Gate: The Successful UFO Cult is a video about heavens gate, the cult that led to the largest mass suicide in US history, claiming that they needed to do so for their consciousness to join a spaceship following the Hale Bopp comet in 1997.

What made your first video pop off?

Asking because I’ve always understood it’s a long game with YouTube. I make long form ufo content and have gotten around 30 videos now with almost 500 subs. One video popped off around 72k views which is awesome, but the rest of my videos seem to not get enough impressions to do well, and don’t typically get much past 100 views despite having good numbers from what I understand (70% retention at 30s, >6% CTR, ~50% overall retention).

So, what made your channel start to gain traction? One video that led to the traffic expand to others? A slow climb of impressions? Just time? (hopefully not time, because my videos get killed after 2-3 weeks and never ever get any more views)

Crop Circles: The Evidence That Changed My Mind

This was an interesting one on crop circles, it touched on both the hoaxers and the evidence/proof for crop circles

If your content has gotten 100x better, should you delist previous videos that were bad?

I’ve been teaching myself how to edit, so of course over time the content improves and makes the previous content look pretty bad. I’ve been considering delisting some of the worst content, because I’m concerned that youtube shows it to people, and it prevents them from getting a better video shown to them, or from subscribing because they’re unaware recently videos are 100x better in terms of quality. And that since it’s lower quality, people watch less of the video, telling YouTube to not push my other content. What would you do?

You don’t have to check it out, but just in case people ask, this is my channel link. Any recent videos are 100x better than some of my first 10 videos. But for whatever reasons, one of them, such as my Vargihna incident video, keeps racking up views (2.4k, a lot for me). While that’s awesome, it doesn’t convert many people to subscribers, and as of right now I have the watch hour requirement completed but not the subscriber one for monetization.

I found an in depth breakdown of the first/second UFO files

Since we’re still waiting on the third batch of UFO files, I’ve been watching videos and found this channel that broke down the first and second UFO file releases.

Curious if any of y’all have seen this channel before or if there were other things in the files that he missed?

I hadn’t seen in any other videos of the NASA transcripts or the 209 green fireballs in places like Roswell and Los Alamos, so that was interesting.
