Freida Pinto’s December 2015 appearance at the Audemars Piguet Rodeo Drive boutique opening is worth another look from the feet up.

Her Cushnie Et Ochs Resort 2016 separates kept the palette completely black, but the Charlotte Olympia Octavia sandals introduced the detail: suede cage straps inspired by the designer’s spider-web motif, sheer mesh, double ankle straps, a metallic island platform, and a towering stiletto.

The Octavia has since disappeared from primary retail, making Pinto’s photos a great record of one of Charlotte Olympia’s most recognizable platform designs.

Vanessa Hudgens didn’t need a complicated red-carpet look to make an impression at the 2026 HollyShorts Film Festival.

Her ivory L’Agence slip dress was deliberately simple: fluid satin, narrow straps, and contrasting black trim. Then came the shoes.

Hudgens wore Schutz Rachel Glam sandals with slender crystal-covered straps wrapped across the foot and 4.13-inch stiletto heels. Against such an understated dress, they looked almost like jewelry.

Two Julianne Hough red carpets, two completely different approaches to the barely-there sandal.

At the 2015 Creative Arts Emmys, her intricately embellished Jenny Packham gown flowed into metallic-gold Giuseppe Zanotti heels. Weeks earlier, she went in the opposite direction, pulling the vivid blue from her Monique Lhuillier floral mini into matching Stuart Weitzman Nudistsong sandals.

The interesting part is how differently the shoes work: one disappears into the palette, while the other becomes part of the color story.
