Where to Play?
I built my first Edison deck and I’m currently waiting on the rest of the singles to show up :). Are there Edison Local Tournaments in the Connecticut area? Or even an online play (discord, etc.)

As Edison players I would say our taste is quite exquisite when it comes to personal preference and handling of our beloved cards.
What’s everyone rocking for sleeves?
For me rn I’m using Ultra Pro Eclipse White in small - no double sleeves and they’ve been holding up pretty well for the past 4 months of play/shuffling.
Extra deck is more expensive so I’ve gone Dragon Shield (I like their snug fit) + Broccoli embossed
From past experience I cannot really recommend Dragon Shield for main deck, Katana, or the gold ol’ Players Choices because they’re great after you break them in and get rid of the awkward one sided tilt but then after a couple weeks they get dirty, shuffle poorly and start falling apart.
Is Duelingbook the standard to play online? I’m new to Edison and want to play online but I’ve only used YGO Omega.
I'm getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh with my friends (who are completely new) and we settled on starting with Edison. One of them wanted to play Lightsworn, and I'd like a deck that would offer a great experience for him. Basically one that's not too oppressive and would be the same power level for a duel. Thanks!
Anybody have experience or suggestions for this necroface d.d. Dynamite deck I’m trying to make work?
Idea is banish necroface asap and as many times as you can and then dynamite for win.
I thought about Armageddon knight or foolish and bazoo but I don’t know the whole card pool very well are there cards I’m missing that would help this strategy?
Hi everyone! I created a social media website for TCG Players (Yugioh, Pokemon, Riftbound, and MTG for now). Currently, we support decklists, tournament results from topdeck.gg, and offer live streams, posts, forums, collections, and much more! I am really interested and having fun with yugioh retro formats right now, but we support most of the major card games, and will be adding support for way more in the future! If anyone is interested, we are running an open beta so come check us out!
This deck is really good but GB is such a counter i need help to find a solution. The main problem aren't even Gyzarus or Bestiari, it's Trap stun, GB war chariot and Heraklinos. The best thing i can do against it is play Twister and Typhoon to try and destroy them before they activate and pray that he summons another monster other that Heraklinos so i can destroy it with Lava golem.
The cards that let you draw and the monsters (exept for Gorz wich i'm thinking of moving to side since it's not that useful) are the main engine and it's harmful to remove them, as well as the burn cards (obviously). The main card i replace against GB are Gorz, Scapegoat (free attacks that let them activate GB effects) and Dimensional wall/Magic cylinder (they get removed without chaining). In case of emergency even a Waboku or Morphing Jar (just gets removed).
I thought of using Dark bribe and Solemn judgment (side) but it's not that optimal or Jester confit (for Heraklinos but without Waboku or Roar wich H. counters it doesn't work). At this point i'm almost afraid this is a limit this deck can't overcome.
Sorry for the long description just wanted to give the full picture of the problem and thanks for help.
Spoilers ahead
After RRC Fort Myers Day 1, no Vayu Turbo in top cut is fantastic. Also an Assault Activate deck made top 4 and Gigavise taking 1st place vs Blackwings.
Any deck and any player can win a large event. Keep experimenting and have fun 😎👍🏻
Im just getting back to play YGO, I was unaware of this new format, build this deck and got to 2 finals in arrow at a local shop's tournaments.
What do you guys think of it? Any ideas? I struggle vs Blackwings, it depends a lot on hands but so far it has been the only deck I struggle VS.
Any thoughts?
This is just a fun thought experiment, so please don't take it too seriously!
Also, if I'm misunderstanding what a "cube" is, I apologize. My understanding is that it's essentially a premade, pick-up-and-play collection of cards—usually for drafting. For this thought experiment, though, I'm imagining a "cube" containing four complete, ready-to-play Edison decks.
EDIT: the term I’m talking about is a sealed battle box! Not a cube
I've often wondered: What four decks would make up the "perfect" Edison cube?
The idea is that a group of friends—or maybe two brothers in their 30s or 40s—could pull this thing off the shelf whenever they feel like playing the best format of all time.
Importantly, I'm not asking, "What are the four best decks in Edison?" Nor am I trying to assemble the four most competitive decks possible.
Instead, I'm looking for four decks that:
That last point isn't mandatory, but I think there's something cool about being able to say, "This archetype was actually represented at SJC Edison."
With that said, I think three decks are basically no-brainers: Blackwing, Machina Gadget, and Lightsworn. The fourth slot is where things get interesting.
No-brainer.
It's one of the best-known decks of the format, easy enough to pick up and play, powerful, and has the anime connection. It's also STILL competitive in modern Edison.
Easy pick. Moving on.
Cover card: Blackwing Armor Master.
I think this is another very strong choice.
It was represented at SJC Edison, so it gets historical points. It's straightforward to play and easy to teach or relearn after you haven't played in a while. It's also still a legitimate choice in modern Edison and can absolutely steal wins.
The gameplay is interactive, and unlike some simpler decks, it still has a recognizable boss monster.
Cover card: Machina Fortress.
This gives us something mechanically different from the first two without becoming overly complicated.
It's another historically relevant SJC Edison deck, and it represents one of the most iconic archetypes of the era.
And obviously...
Cover card: Judgment Dragon.
This is where I have trouble.
Vayu Turbo: Not too difficult to play, and obviously we know about its competitive success. However, it doesn't have the same historical SJC Edison argument, and it feels somewhat derivative when Blackwing is already included. Not my favorite choice for this particular purpose.
Diva Hero/Diva Zombie: Cool decks, but perhaps a little too complicated for the pick-up-and-play concept. Also not historically tied to SJC Edison to my knowledge.
Dragon Turbo: No.
Plant decks: I'm actually not knowledgeable enough about their learning curve to confidently judge them. I could be convinced.
Fairy decks: I think they're a little too close to Lightsworn for what I'm trying to accomplish.
Fish OTK/Frog decks: I know these are modern Edison fan favorites and incredibly competitive, but I'm not a huge fan of them for this particular concept. They're a bit too complex for something you're supposed to pull off the shelf and immediately start playing.
Gladiator Beast: Probably has one of the strongest arguments. It's historically relevant to SJC Edison AND still competitive today. Despite playing against the deck countless times, though, I feel like it might be just a little too complex for the pick-up-and-play idea. Still, this might objectively be the strongest alternative.
Hero Beat/Diva Hero Beat: Not a bad choice at all. You could showcase Absolute Zero as the deck's boss monster, and neither variation is particularly difficult to play. The more I think about it, the more I like this option. Unfortunately, it loses the historical SJC Edison bonus.
Gravekeeper's: This was originally my top choice. Konami even showcased Gravekeeper's as being played at SJC Edison, so there's at least some historical connection. It's also extremely easy to pick up and play. My concerns are that the power level may be noticeably below the other three—especially when you don't open/turbo into Royal Tribute—and it doesn't really have that iconic "boss monster" you can slap on the front of the deck box.
Six Samurai: Similar to Gravekeeper's in that it was showcased during SJC Edison and would give the cube another recognizable archetype. This might actually be another interesting choice.
X-Saber: Probably a little too complex for what I'm going for.
After thinking through all of them, I think I'd ultimately give the fourth spot to Diva Hero Beat
It's not overly complicated, it's competitive enough to hang with the other three, it introduces a different style of gameplay, and—maybe most importantly—it gives Elemental HERO Absolute Zero the spotlight. That's an iconic and fun card from the era and gives the fourth deck a real identity.
So my "perfect" casual Edison cube would be:
Blackwing
Machina Gadget
Lightsworn
Diva Hero Beat
Four recognizable decks, four iconic cover monsters, different enough gameplay styles, and all competitive enough that you can just pull them out and play.
Would you guys agree with these four? And if not, what would you replace the fourth deck with?
I hear the Twilight Edition bundles from back in the day had different printings than the normal packs of Light of Destruction, Phantom Darkness, and Tactical Evolution. I don’t really understand how you identify the differences. If someone could just explain it to me like I’m five I would be forever grateful. Thanks!
Whats your guys mandatory side deck cards or it probably should be there cards? & how many cards do you tend to side in and out against good vs bad match ups? Is there random tech cards in your side?
Looking for the best build. Which build is more consistent and powerful? One is from Frazier (the legend) Smith, and the other is from Tom Mark.
Tough match-up’s include GB and BW
I can smoke side out traps and in monsters for GB and Fairy, but BW have so much back row hate it’s tough. Still working on my Side Deck but here’s the main.
I’m sure people will ask about the Spirit monster, Maharaghi. It lets me see my draw on the next Draw Phase after it was summoned and pick if it’s added to my hand or placed on the bottom of my deck to draw something else. It’s why I don’t play Reckless Greed.
Thoughts or recommendations for my plant Deck?
I'm trying to learn frogs as an engine and i'm playing some frog hero however i'm kind of struggling with side decking, specifically which cards to take out from main during side.
I keep thinking that you can't take out frogs since you need sub swap treeborn and dupe, maybe unifrog against lightsworn but I think the others should stay.
The hero package is necessary as well in order to have materials for ABS 0 and the same goes for Caius to keep using treeborn.
You most likely can't take out power spells such as brain control or Fufu so I often find myself struggling with taking out any cards other than raigeki break.
Since i'm still new to the deck whatever I said may be wrong and I'm up to anyone disagreeing with if i'm wrong but this is my biggest issue right now so if someone could give me some tips I would really appreciate it.
