I dont know if its just me being slow, but personally I think my school is operating at a ridiculously fast a level maths pace: we've covered chapters 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9 10 (excluding chapter 8) of pure year 1 edexcel content and are given an hour of homework per lesson so 5 hours weekly, (but obviously I have to do so much more to stay affloat) and we spend roughly 1-2 lessons per chapter.

I have an end of topic test on chapters 1,2,3,4,5,6,9 next week, and ive covered using madasmaths and bicen maths to cover so far 1-5 really in depth, but its so hard to consolidate when we jump to new chapters frequently. Also, we get exam questions weekly on the stuff we covered 2 weeks earlier, but I don't have time to consolidate; I feel like I'm just curating a superficial understanding of the content.

Is this just my school, or is this normal, and I need to adapt?

I would greatly appreciate any advice.

For some context I just started chapter 2 in my textbook so I can’t really speak for the later chapters.

Anyway, I have noticed that the textbook kinda of sucks. Like I don’t mean that it’s bad or anything but half the time they just strip away the deeper mathematical concepts and stuff and just give us with a step by step shortcut that works well for a specific situation but is inefficient everywhere else.

Now obviously they shouldn’t go too deep into the math, but the level of simplifying that they do is too far. And it’s not like the shortcuts are all the good either. For example, in chapter one they teach modulus functions and and give a set of steps to find the answers but that introduces fake answers and need to be double checked and that is fine but they don’t explain why there are fake values.

Now I understand that these textbooks are made for a massive audience so they have to do this, and that’s fine. Except that they don’t even tell us what concepts the shortcuts were derived from, like just a little note in the corner would be enough.

I feel like I’m wasting so much time every page wondering, is this the shortcut or an actual concept.

Does anyone have a list for each chapter of everything they derived and from what or maybe a book that aligns Cambridge syllabus and gives mathematical depth.

Any help would be great.

What do you guys think the overall C threshold will be for P12, P52, P42, and P32? I know we’ve only done P12 and P52 so far, but based on how those papers went and where you think their C boundaries will fall, what do you think the overall C could end up being?

why is the damm tmua so hard, does anyone have any insane revision tips when ur loosing motivation.

i struggle a lot with keeping focus as i have autism and 50 things going on in my head all at once makes it impossible to sit and do something when i feel umotivated by the fact that im so bad at it. I feel like I definitely understand and know how to do a lot of the questions but then i come back and forget how which then fustrates me and its impossible to get back into the grind. Ive done sm past papers i really dont know what i can do and how to properly sit down and lock in for it. I can get a 7.8 ish if ive revised the paper and maybe a 6.8 7.1 if not but sometimes ill get like a 5.4 and I cant tell what my weaknesses are becuase each paper varies so much.

my exam is on thursday any tips or even just anything to make me stress less is appreciated cheers

So like oct nov pure maths p12 was awful this session but some of y'all said further maths saved your asses on it. I want to get an A* in maths so I need to be highkey perfect in my A2 components so, what part of further maths saved you? Just to be safe and learn all potentials that could distort the exam

hi, since the s1 and m1 papers are coming, here is a pretty difficult paper we made with original questions. its totally based on everything they test for 9709 maths S1 only.

nothing is from untested material or picked from further maths statistics. hope u guys find it helpful.

and this was made w my friends/team, so credit goes to them as it took quite a bit of time. we guys are also working on an m1 mock paper, want to make it especially difficult cuz cambridge is making more difficult papers for maths from what i can tell

ALSO not sure if cambridge is doing the new format for s1 as well, they probably are so we made it so that u write in different space

so after having one hell of an exam in P1, i realized that i'm even more underprepared for Mechanics.
