Finished the game for the first time

I thought the game was really good. There were a few bugs I experienced when playing, but nothing game breaking. It wasn't very hard, and sadly I got over it being scary after getting items to deter the alien. I played it on nightmare too, if that means anything.

A project I am working on.

It will be a kind of electronic multitool. But I am really into cassette futurism at the moment. Fully waterproof with external magnetic switches and encoder.

I'm only like... Halfway through what I think is Mission 4 (Comms control) and I already hate the Working Joes

Like they're so ugly with their bald blue heads 😭 and telepathy for some goddamn reason??? There's no good reason for an android to be able to do that.

They're weirdly stupid-smart too. Like how are you THAT dead but THAT persistent. Just stop. Please.

Why Steve did not open the emergency airlock at project KG348 by itself ?

was the lock mechanism available from only the inside? It would’ve been so easy for Xeno to get Amanda by just pressing the button from the outside and get to her in the emergency airlock...Xeno's are very intelligent so it got me thinking why Steve wouldn’t do it...maybe Amanda locked it from the inside so it wouldn’t be possible to enter from the outside? 🫪

Is there a modding scene in Alien: Isolation community? More specifically, people making standalone games in the Alien: Isolation universe, just like people do in Half Life mods?

I guess it is a stupid question, but it seems that it might be an interesting idea.

Games with other protagonists on a different spaceships, or even planets, maybe not necessarily even involving actual Xenomorphs, just corporate espionage, intrigues and some corp-on-corp warfare.

I am not a modder, it's just that it occurred to me, this might be an interesting space for some enterprising and skilled game fans?

Maybe the engine is not moddable? Or maybe there just isn't much interest?

There really isn't anything else like this game

11 years, I've known this game and in those 11 years I've grown so much as a person, made so many experiences yet never found any single game that can replicate the gameplay loop and perfection of Isolation

I tried Outlast, Amnesia the Bunker, Fnaf, Silent Hill, Resident evil, so many more, these are just the ones on top of my head and while these are great games on their own, none ever came close to Isolation's gameplay loop

The atmosphere is one part i really don't need to talk about. (It's simply Superb, i could fall asleep to it)

The gameplay is what i am far more focused on

So what makes the gameplay so special?

The answer is simple: It makes you grow not just as a player but also as a person, it rewards skill, boldness and quick thinking. Isolation as opposed to other games doesn't allow you to just hide in a closet and wish the monster away, it demands you to confront it. It demands of you to do something about the Alien and that creates a predictable, rewarding gameplay loop that rewards players that experiment, adapt and keep their cool

Other games often introduce difficulty via resource scarcity, Isolation doesn't do such a thing. It instead throws tools at you and tells you "Here are your toys, now play and experiment with them" Isolation doesn't become a slug fest because you ran out of flamethrower fuel. There are so many ways, tricks and strategies one can use to avoid the alien, even without direct ways to fight back

Simply said it throws you into the cold water and demands of you to learn how to swim, it puts you under a lot of pressure, it ends up having the effect of not only making you a better player at horror games, but it also trains your ability to think fast and act fast.

There are weaknesses off course. After a while you hit a wall where the game becomes too predictable and easy, the humans are stupid and the Joes can be annoying. But you know what? This downside only exists due to the player memorizing Sevastopol, throw yourself blind into a challenge map with no idea what to do and it's the first few hours all over again.

Another thing that makes the game a bit too easy is the motion tracker. But if you think that's the case, just don't use it.

Overall this game is just special. There's nothing else like it out there and if 2 improves further upon this formula, we will have the pleasure and honor to experience an even perfected version of this gameplay loop

I also think,i already put in so many hours (300) in the game without mods or extra maps, i can't imagine what I'd do if there were custom maps or community generated content

I just love this game. There isn't anything else like it out there.

AI:2 should have evil Space Marines

I’ve thought about what the plot could be for Blake and Yutani and the lone Xeno survivor. We can’t get an alien queen so easily, and we are supposedly playing as a corpo insider who is less likely to be betrayed like Burke in Aliens.

So I think the Working Joes should stay loyal and Yutani stays loyal, but when the Space Marines arrive, they start killing everyone. The Space Marines are under the employ of Weyland and they have a spy who reports Blake’s situation and instead of helping Blake, they try to steal the Xeno and obtain the technology for themselves.

The ending would be both Blake and the Xeno tied up and shipped off world…

Trailer for my ALIEN: Isolation VHS ReShade preset

Just a little thing I did for fun. Tagged as "spoilers" since it contains short snippets of late-game areas.

Was watching old music videos and saw something real familiar…

This is the music video for the song New Noise by Refused (from 1998). Could just be a huge coincidence but me thinks I know where the developers got their inspiration for the Working Joes from.

The audio for the game is super quiet? Help

Hey, so I got alien isolation for the steam summer sale but it for whatever reason is not even remotely audible. I found some things about limiting it to 60fps, but even then that didn't seem to work for me. It got louder, sure, but it was like going from someone whispering across the room to whispering in my ear. I can hear it better but I still have to actively be listening in for the *loud* noises. I am going to get screwed over when I have to listen to anything quieter than a shout.

I don't know what could be causing the issue, so I'm hoping someone here can help. Idk if pc specs matter much but they are a 5070 (laptop), intel I9 ultra, 240hz (60 hz didn't help either), 2560x1600 monitor. Some older games simply just do not like my laptop but I'm really hoping this is one I can work around.

Creative Assembly hiring for a 1y position for A:I 2

"The principal video and performance capture methods in video games are Motion Capture (Mocap) and Facial Capture. These technologies record real-life actors, mapping their movements and expressions onto digital 3D skeletons and meshes to create hyper-realistic, fluid, and cinematic in-game characters."

So I think we can expect Alien Isolation 2 to come out not sooner than 2028.

Why Did W.Y. Support Amada Financially Long-term?

I was doing some research for a story and noted how W.Y. supported Amanda by paying for her school, Counseling, Bailey, etc. They then hired her. My first thought was it was a standard survivor benefit and wondered if any of the Nostromo Crew had kids or family who received similar support.

The bail part caught my attention as this seems like a more personal event beyond just send the bill to us as they were clearly watching her.

With the events of Romulus, do you think they located her mom significantly earlier than the events of Romulus as it has been speculated she was found and kept on the station before the Alien was located. So what was the end game? Hedge their bets to control Ripley should she return and have a desire to talk? The old we are not so bad we took care of your daughter. Now do us a solid and keep quiet, no lawsuits, etc. Amanda reported being dead in Aliens did eliminate a possible leverage tool.

Do you also think other Nostromo family members got benefits beyond a likely insurance payout? Isolation sent a lawyer as they wanted to close the cost of the ship and cargo which to me indicates it is an unpaid claim.
