Heather McNeil Hudson first appeared in X-Men #139 (August 19, 1980)

I love how relaxed Heather is around Nightcrawler. Even if she gets the name wrong.

I think it also hints that Heather's been aroudn some weird stuff in her time being married to Mac.

Anyone read X-Men of Apocalypse Omega #1 (for AoA Wild Child)?

This was released August 5. The Age of Apocalyse version of Wild Child's in it. I haven't read it. I tried some of the earlier issues and the title was not for me.

I would be surprised if Wild Child spoke. Their version seems to be fully nonverbal. Which I chalk up to trauma more than anything. 😕

3 Years Ago: Alpha Flight volume 5 launched!

Released on August 16, 2023 as part of the Fall of X event, this issue sees a new status quo for Alpha Flight.

They are, once again, working for Department H. But there are lots of people missing. Alpha Flight is Guardian (Mac), Shaman, Snowbird, and Puck (Judd). Part of that is because they have now been tasked to capture any and all mutants in Canada!

One one of their first (very public) missions, they attempt to capture Argent, a mutant who just wants to escape persecution. They're interrupted by .... Alpha Flight? Northstar, Aurora, Fang (Wolverine's kid, Akihiro), and Nemesis (we'll find out more about her as the series progresses). Our non-mutant Alpha Flight is defeated and the others escape.

We later learn that the two teams are working together to help mutants flee. The 'Department H Alpha Flight' is feeding information and putting on a spectacle.

I appreciated the respect for some of Alpha Flight's lore. The return of Feedback was definitely unexpected. My only immediate "um actually" moment is that Roger Bochs Jr mentions that he saw Mac at his father's funeral. Only Mac was dead at the time the first Roger Bochs died. ...so...

Creative team (according to Marvel Database):

 • Writer(s) Ed Brisson
 • Penciler(s) Scott Godlewski
 • Inker(s) Scott Godlewski
 • Colorist(s) Matt Milla
 • Letterer(s) Travis Lanham
 • Editor(s) Drew Baumgartner, Mark Basso, Jordan D. White

The clues were there, people! Northstar 🌈

There were lots of clues to Northstar being (closeted) gay, starting with the Byrne era. He's not the only one who dropped hints. From Mantlo's Alpha Flight #36:

 • Northstar: Does it hurt much, Narya?
 • Aurora: Jean-Paul! She's having a baby, not an appendectomy!
 • Heather: You're so nervous, Northstar, anyone might think you were the father!
 • Northstar: C'est impossible!

Tattoo of our favorite “fairy prince of Asgard!”

Tattoo interpretation of art by Dax Ramires on twitter :)

I’m mostly happy with it, but the star behind him is wonky lol

Ad for Alpha Flight #17 (at the end of #16)

One notable thing about this issue (other than this promo piece) is that Logan's in it not on the cover.

Puck's nightmares (Uncanny X-Force #10)

On August 14, 2013, Puck experienced a traumatic vision of his memories.

Oh yeah. Remember when Puck was on X-Force??

Graviton Is the Marvel villain with the coolest powers but who is used as a minor villain, despite being able to humiliate, for example, most Omega mutants.

Guest-starring Alpha Flight! Hulk #56 (August 15, 2012)

Admittedly, the 'guest starring' in this case is a single panel cameo. But if you missed these appearances, Alpha Flight guest starred in this five-part storyline with Red Hulk.

>The penultimate chapter of MAYAN RULE! Guest starring Alpha Flight and Machine Man! The Mayan gods continue to remake Earth in their own image! Will Red Hulk's power be used to end the world?

-Marvel Unlimited synposis

And for those wondering, no, that's not Heather in the foreground on the radio. It's Red Hulk's LMD assistant.

Back to the Crossover! 1983

We’re travelling back in time to 1983 and imagining Alpha Flight having a crossover mini-series with some other Marvel hero(es)!

The rules: It can be any character/team from that year. You can see a full list of Marvel’s 1983 cover date comics on Marvel Database at https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Category:1983\_Cover\_Date.
Of course, the characters don’t have to be in a title at the time, it’s just easier to ‘place them’ in their timeline.

You’re encouraged to include:

 • Who the guest stars are! Rather than ‘the Avengers,’ find a lineup from that and suggest them.
 • An image!
 • Maybe some story ideas? “I really want to see the Avengers and Alpha Flight team up against __.”

Comment your suggestions, and vote for others by giving them ⬆️ votes. This is going to go all weekend and the winner will be announced on Monday.

What’s happening to Alpha Flight in 1983? The team's first volume just launched. They're not funded anymore and are trying to figure out a new direction.

Who’s on the team in 1983?

 • Vindicator
 • Aurora
 • Northstar
 • Sasquatch
 • Shaman
 • Snowbird
 • Puck
 • Marrina

Sasquatch & Windshear: Drinking Buddies 🍻 (Alpha Flight #101)

I wish Fabian Nicieza had stayed on the title longer. This scene promised a budding friendship between these two that we never saw realized.

As a proud Canadian I am hoping for a Wolverine and Deadpool meets Alpha Flight X-Mas Special Presentation. Would anyone want a like 85 minute jokey, Canadian, X-Mas themed, special?

There is probably no way Alpha Flight could ever hold over an actual series or movie. But! A special, anchored by the two biggest Canadian marvel characters, steeped in Canadian comedy and making use of Canadian comedic talent could really land well as a one off special presentation.

Some Highlights From Alpha Flight (volume 2) #15

Released: August 12, 1998

 • Mac (>!Not actually Mac, we later learn by a younger synthoid duplicate!<) utters the 'ready for provinces and planet' and Radius justifiably mocks him for it.
 • Diamond Lil cameo!
 • It's been too long since an Alpha Flight story had a 'creepy little girl' in it.
 • The Brass Bishop!

Quick Update on User Flair

Hey folks!

We're going to try and do something different with User Flair. Instead of trying to make a flair for each and every character related to Alpha Flight, there are now a variety of colour options for you to choose from. Then you can just enter in your own title. You can include two emoji. Note that offensive language will get you removed.

If you don't know how to add User Flair, I've included some screenshots from my iPhone app and the Desktop.

The background colour options are:

 1. Black
 2. Red
 3. Orange
 4. Yellow
 5. Green
 6. Blue
 7. Indigo
 8. Violet
 9. Pink
 10. White

Note the text shifts from white to black depending on what looked best to my 👁️.

"Powered & Dangerous" Alpha Flight #3 (2011)

One thing I really appreciated about the Greg Pak/Fred van Lente series is how they are 'getting the band back together.' We'd already seen a bunch of Alpha Flight return from the dead in their Chaos War one-shot. Now we see the return of Puck. And the long-awaited return of Ranark!

Alphanniversary: Alpha Flight #113

This issue is mostly a flashback and is done by a team of guest creators: Writer Sven Larsen, Penciler Craig Brasfield, and inks by Frank Turner. There's a second colorist cited as well.

I really enjoyed this issue even if Larsen gets some continuity errors. For example, Heather mentions getting Department H training with her suit which wouldn't make sense. I think this is also the first (and only?) time we see Heather's heads-up display.

Great to see Alpha Flight finish off the Raiders so quickly. It's nice to remember that, hey, these are experienced heroes by this point in their history.

Heather struggles a bit more with Mauler but he is the most powerful of the antagonists and does, y'know, run away.

Posting for the hell of it

Thought I’d post something from my collection after reading Alpha Flight will be appearing in the latest Wolverine run. I’m a Brit and my first love is Excalibur and all things X. However my first introduction to a superhero team was Alpha Flight, way back in the 80s in the back pages of Marvel UK’s fortnightly Secret Wars anthology. The magazine format publication would contain 7 pages of primary book and 7 pages of a back up book, plus some games, activities and usually a double page splash poster. Good times, Alpha Flight issues 1 to 8 were published, before being switched to the Iceman limited series and the finally to an original UK ‘Zoids’ story line (which written by a young Grant Morrison).
