The first Look Around images are now appearing in the Baltic States on LookMap
Apple should soon release the new map data in these three countries.

I don't know how this happened but my Apple Maps app on my Mac Mini is now showing chinese letters. Even in the left corner instead of Apple is now showing chinese letters. How can I fix it? Language and region is Portuguese (Portugal).
Guys, I also prefer Apple Maps, but I'm kinda shocked how easily everyone falls for that misinformation graph ...
Nobody questions Google Maps just losing half their users and getting the same amount of visitors as Apple Maps now?
The graph currently on top of the sub compares Google's old domain that is not being used anymore with Apple's active one. Here are the numbers for the real Google Maps URL.
Just had a dream that I couldn’t find my car in a large parking lot so I wanted to make sure my Apple Maps always shows where it’s parked. I don’t have the option in the Maps app under Settings.
UPDATE: Solved
Yesterday, I accidentally discovered that Apple Maps has been updated with 2026 imagery.
I was just driving around doing some car spotting.
About Apple maps app and look around, I'd like to mention that there is a difference between those two.
Look Around allows you to search for specific update dates, whereas the Apple Maps app only shows you the streets that are already highlighted in blue.
You can't see the updates in the Apple Maps app. Even on Look Around, it wasn't visible at the time I discovered the update. However, I found out that you can click on the gray streets even if the blue lines aren't showing, which still allows you to access the updated streets
The blue-highlighted streets only become visible when zooming in completely.
I am aware that Benni, who by the way, does excellent work tracking all these updates uses a different website. However, I personally prefer to research and discover these updates myself using Lookmap.
Furthermore, I will leave it to Benni to post the other updates, which include parts of Singapore.
I noticed this in the ios27 beta (although they have probably been around longer).
These turn indicators are very helpful in planning a turn or exit on busy roads and are the major reason I use google maps for turn by turn navigation while driving.
It’s such a simple feature that Apple could enable during driving but for some reason don’t?
Hey all! I've always loved planes and design equally and I've spent years looking for a decent way to watch aircraft from my desk. I've found that existing apps are cluttered, covered in ads, and never something I actually want to leave open.
I wanted something simple and beautiful that used Apple Maps. It's taken a while to work out how to render 3D objects onto Apple Maps, and I've hand-built a handful of aircraft models to fit the Apple Maps style.
It's still a work in progress, but in the spirit of getting things out into the world I figured I'd share it. It's built around airports rather than tracking everything in the air at once.
If you want to follow along I've put a waitlist up at terminal.flights. You can pick an airport, which helps me decide which ones to release first.
Cheers
i’m on carplay and i don’t know how to get out of this screen to scroll on apple maps on my phone
Noticed that there has been some updates to the transit maps for Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This includes:
- In Brisbane, the new Cross River Rail line and station outlines for Woolloongabba station, Albert Street station, Roma Street station and Exhibition station are showing. Boggo Road station hasn’t been updated yet. Expected opening is in 2029.
- Stage 3 of the G:Link Gold Coast light rail now shows from Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads, including station outlines at Mermaid Beach South, Miami North, Miami, Christine Avenue, Second Avenue and Burleigh Heads. Line opened 9 August 2026.
Looks absolutely incredible!!
I met an Apple Maps camera guy while walking my dogs on a city trail near my house. When can I expect the images to show up on Apple Maps?
There are lots of pre-CarPlay cars where Maps’ audio will only play when the car is actively playing audio from Bluetooth (almost every pre-CarPlay Toyota, as well as many other Bluetooth stereo systems that support Bluetooth call interruption)
This results in no maps sound when using FM stereo, XM radio, or any other input source
But there’s a fix for all this! (Working in iOS 26 & 27)
- Go to ‘Settings > Apps > Maps > Spoken Directions > Directions on Radio’ and toggle ON
This will result in these car systems interpreting the Maps audio as a phone call, and these systems are programmed to automatically interrupt car audio for any phone calls. All of a sudden audio works again
Hope this helps!
Solo dev here. Tokyo has the best transit system in the world and the hardest one to picture in your head: dozens of operators, hundreds of lines, and most service alerts published only in Japanese. I wanted one screen that shows the whole thing actually moving, so I spent the past year building it. It went live today. Mods: remove if not allowed, no hard feelings.
It's called Tokyo Glance. What it does:
The live map: every supported train, bus, even planes landing at Haneda, moving in real time. Tap any train and follow it stop by stop. Departure boards and live cameras for stations, plus a Home Screen widget with the next departures from your station. Service alerts translated into English. This is the one that saves trips: when a line stops, the announcement is usually Japanese-only. Rain radar and earthquake alerts on the same map, because both will happen during your trip. A time machine: scrub to any moment and watch the network run. Curious what the last-train scramble looks like at 00:30? Scrub there. Honest fine print: iPhone only. The core app is free; the deeper stuff (lock screen train following, the time machine) is a subscription, cheaper yearly. And it's not a route planner: Google Maps still wins for "how do I get from A to B". This is for knowing what's happening around you right now.
One tip that's true even if you never install anything: last trains leave earlier than most visitors expect, many lines wind down between 00:00 and 00:30, and weekday and weekend timetables differ. Check the night before, not at the platform.
If you're visiting soon, tell me what confused you most about Tokyo transit. That list is literally my roadmap. I'll be in the comments all day.

On Android? The website has most of it free in the browser, including first and last trains for every station and line: https://tokyoglance.com
I came across this while just randomly looking around and am wondering why theyre blurred.
Ocean is 250mb? 😂
