One of the interesting patterns in relationship astrology is when a person has no shortage of romantic attention but struggles to convert attraction into a stable relationship.

In Jyotish, I would first examine the 5th house and its lord for romance. Then I would examine the 7th house and its lord for committed partnership. Venus and the Navamsa are equally important to the assessment.

1. Venus–Rahu connection

When Venus is conjunct Rahu or strongly influenced by it, especially through the 5th or 7th house, there may be intense attraction towards unconventional or unfamiliar partners.

In some charts, the relationship begins with exceptional chemistry. The native becomes deeply invested before understanding the other person's intentions. If the 7th lord is also afflicted and the same pattern repeats in D9, the possibility of unstable relationship choices becomes more relevant.

However, Venus–Rahu alone does not indicate infidelity or failed commitment. The dispositor of Rahu and the dignity of Venus can change the result considerably.

2. The 5th lord is strong but the 7th lord is afflicted

Consider a hypothetical chart where the 5th lord is placed in a favourable house and receives benefic influence. Venus is also strong. The native attracts romantic interest and may experience multiple opportunities for relationships.

Now suppose the 7th lord is debilitated or heavily afflicted by malefics. Its dispositor is weak and the D9 repeats the affliction.

Here I would investigate a specific possibility: romance may develop more easily than long-term partnership. Relationships may begin successfully but face difficulties when commitment, family responsibilities or practical compatibility enter the picture.

This is a hypothesis to test against the entire horoscope. It is not a rule that an afflicted 7th lord must produce relationship failure.

3. Rahu in the 7th house

Rahu in the 7th can indicate attraction towards partners who differ from the native's usual social or cultural environment. In certain charts, the relationship may develop quickly because of fascination or novelty.

If Saturn or Mars also afflicts the 7th lord and Venus is weak, I would examine the possibility of recurring conflict or impulsive partnership decisions.

If the 7th lord is strong and benefic influences support the house, the same Rahu placement may instead manifest through an unconventional but lasting marriage.

This is why judging Rahu by house placement alone is incomplete.

4. The connection between the 5th and 7th lords

This is one of the first things I check when examining whether romantic attraction can develop into marriage.

A conjunction, mutual aspect or exchange between the 5th and 7th lords establishes a relationship between the two houses. Venus influencing this connection can add further relevance.

If the connection is strong in D1 and supported in D9, it may strengthen the indication that a romantic relationship could lead to marriage.

If the connection exists but the 7th lord is severely afflicted, the chart still requires a more careful assessment. A connection between the houses does not guarantee a successful marriage.

5. The role of Vimshottari Dasha

A natal combination describes a potential. Dasha helps assess when that potential may become active.

For example, a person may have a strong 5th–7th connection but experience repeated short-lived relationships during a period activating the 5th house or its lord.

A later period involving a well-placed 7th lord or Venus may bring a different relationship opportunity. Whether it leads to marriage depends on the complete D1 and D9 assessment.

I would never predict commitment solely from the commencement of Venus Mahadasha or Rahu Antardasha. The functional lordship and placement of the planets must also be considered.

The important distinction is this: attraction, romantic involvement and commitment are three different things in chart analysis.

If someone repeatedly attracts partners but struggles to establish a lasting relationship, I would examine the 5th lord, 7th lord, Venus, Rahu, D9 and running Dasha together. I would also consider whether the same pattern is genuinely repeating rather than drawing a conclusion from one placement.

i’ve been struggling to get my desired job despite putting in a lot of effort. recently, i consulted an astrologer who told me i have some doshas, including brahma hatya dosha and kanya dosha, and gave me a long list of poojas to perform.

the way he explained it honestly scared me. he acted as though even touching my horoscope would cause something bad to happen to him. he also gave me the number of a priest who apparently does these poojas, and he seemed to know the number by heart.

regarding marriage, he told me that finding a groom for me would be difficult. but i’ve actually been dating my partner for 7 years, and both our parents have accepted our marriage without any major issues.

i’ve consulted astrologers before, but i’ve never been told these things. he also told me my mother might fall ill because of me and that i could be a threat to my grandmother.

this really disturbed me because, as far as i know, i’ve never intentionally harmed anyone.

i’m confused and skeptical about the whole thing. has anyone experienced something similar? are these doshas actually something to be worried about, or could this be a scare tactic to make people pay for expensive poojas and remedies?
