My baby has been experiencing eczema since birth, she is now 1yrs old and we are in the trenches. Her chin and cheeks are red, flaky and raw (chin). I have hydrocortisone for body and elidel for the face. I have cerave for body cream and have recently tried beef tallow. She is allergic to peanuts, milk and eggs. I was desensitizing her with milk and eggs but I stopped because her skin was reacting a lot.
i don’t know what to do anymore, any help would be greatly appreciated!
I’m losing my mind. Any tips would help but also knowing I’m not alone would help. I’m crying because I’m at an absolute loss of what I can do to help my poor baby sleep.
First time mom to a 10 month old boy. He’s teething (canines are coming in), has eczema that he keeps scratching, and has always been a low sleep needs baby.
I’m dying over here though. He doesn’t sleep more than a couple hours at a time at night, he won’t go down in his crib. He can’t self soothe because he escalates - the loudest crying/screaming you’ve ever heard, choking on his own spit because he’s so upset, etc. We’ve had to co-sleep which worked (a little) but now that he’s starting to crawl, we want him safe in a crib.
It doesn’t matter what we try - nothing is helping him. I think if I can get his eczema under control, he’d sleep better. We’ve tried all the medicated creams & oils that his pediatrician prescribed. Tried aveeno, la roche posey, mustela, aquaphor - nothing seems to give him relief or help. On top of that, I can’t seem to figure out what the trigger for his flare ups are. He only wears 100% cotton clothes. We use the free & clear detergent. He gets a bath every other day. We use the sensitive water wipes. We keep him moisturized throughout the day. I don’t know what to do. We have a dermatologist appt for him in a month (don’t even get me started on how long it took to finally get one).
I’m just at a couple and total loss. And feel like an absolute failure of a mother. I’m really struggling.
Does anyone have any recommendations for pajamas with the fold over mittens that go past 12 months other than little sleepies?? Don’t get me wrong, I do love LS but I’d like some variety, preferably 100% cotton for my scratchy little baby!!
Hi all,
My 7 month old has a bumpy rash that the doctor suggests is eczema and prescribed a topical steroid cream. Reddit doc suggested it was combination of eczema and heat rash and advised on using hydrocortisone cream. My baby would get some bumps here and there throughout his short 7 months but this is the first time it's red and inflamed looking as well as spreading. The only thing done differently is he had yogurt (skyr) for the first time in the last couple weeks and we spent some time outside for a few hours on a rather warm day (albeit under a canopy). I've tried quite a few over the counter creams with colloidal oatmeal and nothing is helping (Aveeno Baby Eczema, Tubby Todd all over ointment, Eucerin Eczema Hydrogel, Mustela Cicastela). Any tips? I'm trying to avoid the steroid/ hydrocortisone if possible for fear of TSW and just putting something so strong on my baby's skin but WILL use it soon if I can't get his rash to calm down as I'm not trying to make him suffer. So far, he has not been scratching (this is on his tummy/ chest). The only thing that has worked in reducing redness is Aquaphor but I know that's just an occlusive and not a real solution.
