We moved house 6 weeks ago and have done our best to make this tiny room into a cosy nursery for our baby who is arriving in 1 week! We just have a few finishing touches to make.

I’m pregnant with my first child, just about 19 weeks in and we’re starting to plan to paint our nursery! I’m pretty into interior design and overall definitely gravitate towards a moodier aesthetic. My husband is pretty opposite, he likes bright and earthy colours. Overall, I think our house is a good reflection of both of our tastes.
After weeks have having no idea what I might want for our nursery, I finally feel like I have a clear vision! I want a dark, dusty mauve colour, with wood, green, and cream accents. We’ve already got this beautiful handmade dragon mobile and some gorgeous, iridescent prints he got from his grandmothers house, so there’s for sure a whimsical fantasy undertone (i’ll attach a vision board from Pinterest!) However, he thinks it’s weird and possibly not good for the baby to have a darker room. His concern is he thinks babies need bright colours for stimulation and a darker room may stunt that development in some way.
I see where he’s coming from and hadn’t really considered that before, my thinking was: this room needs to be relaxing and calming for both baby and I for the first \~2 years, when all they care about is the boob and tummy time. I think there will still be contrast - lighter wood floors and a white ceiling, plus the room gets tons of afternoon light - but is it selfish of me to prioritize a relaxing aesthetic over a more bright, neutral palette? Would love any advice from those who are all up on their early child development sciences
My son is three months and we just finished setting up his bedroom. He is sleeping in our room but naps here/ plays.
My five favorite items from his room are:

Love his mobile. It was a gift but ties in perfect with his room.
Space decals from Amazon.
reusing the furniture, rocking chair and a lot of toys from my first child.

My husband and his brother spent weeks painting this mural for our baby girl's room. I helped a bit at the end with details. I'm absolutely blown away by how it turned out. It's way better than I ever imagined. Bonus pictures of the bookshelf I painted.
I requested the subreddit as it was one of my favorite ones and it was abandoned quite a while ago.
I want to remind everyone here to read the rules and respect them and not be afraid to report comments or posts that are mean spirited, hostile, rude, bigoted etc.
Remember that this is a space where people post their baby rooms photos. You don't know if the setup is final, if OP is using it yet, if the baby is in thr crib or bassinet, if they're rich, or poor, or religious, or an atheist or who knows what else.
So please don't start with accusations, criticisms or advice unless OP has selected the wanting/accepting advice.
I want this space positive and calm, like a baby room. ♥️
