Nursery Colour impact for baby

I’m pregnant with my first child, just about 19 weeks in and we’re starting to plan to paint our nursery! I’m pretty into interior design and overall definitely gravitate towards a moodier aesthetic. My husband is pretty opposite, he likes bright and earthy colours. Overall, I think our house is a good reflection of both of our tastes.

After weeks have having no idea what I might want for our nursery, I finally feel like I have a clear vision! I want a dark, dusty mauve colour, with wood, green, and cream accents. We’ve already got this beautiful handmade dragon mobile and some gorgeous, iridescent prints he got from his grandmothers house, so there’s for sure a whimsical fantasy undertone (i’ll attach a vision board from Pinterest!) However, he thinks it’s weird and possibly not good for the baby to have a darker room. His concern is he thinks babies need bright colours for stimulation and a darker room may stunt that development in some way.

I see where he’s coming from and hadn’t really considered that before, my thinking was: this room needs to be relaxing and calming for both baby and I for the first \~2 years, when all they care about is the boob and tummy time. I think there will still be contrast - lighter wood floors and a white ceiling, plus the room gets tons of afternoon light - but is it selfish of me to prioritize a relaxing aesthetic over a more bright, neutral palette? Would love any advice from those who are all up on their early child development sciences

Too early to share??

I’ve just found out that I’m 2-3 weeks pregnant (according to 4 at home tests) after a late period and other early symptoms. My husband and I were planning to start trying after the summer so it’s not unwelcome, just slightly unplanned, but we’re very happy and excited!

One of the reasons I wanted to wait is because we have a 3-week trip to France (staying with family and friends) and I wanted to enjoy that trip to the fullest; now I feel like despite it being so early, I’m obligated to tell the people we’re visiting with that I’m pregnant. I think people would suspect if I’m not indulging in drinks, certain foods, and if I start experiencing morning sickness while staying with them

Don’t get me wrong - I’m visiting my best girlfriend and then my husbands’ immediate family, so these are people we are excited to tell, but I’m a little terrified of the prospect of a miscarriage or some complication occurring since it’s so early and I won’t have had any medical check ins (found out I’m pregnant 3 days before I leave for my trip)

I know ~12 weeks is when the chance of miscarriage drops drastically, and not saying I’d even wait that long to share with our parents/closest friends, but in my head it’s like putting it out there makes the chances of it becoming not true more possible - a little dramatic, I know 🙃

I’d love to know how other people handled this balance of being excited to share the news while also a little terrified to put it out there.
