I wanted to share my 24x30" original canvas artwork, "Water Wears Her Name."

When I created this piece, it came from a really specific desire to see women of color taking up space in exotic, historic locations. Growing up and looking at classical art, we rarely see ourselves depicted just lounging in pure luxury, traveling the world, and completely owning the environment around us. I wanted to paint her with an unapologetic sense of grace and belonging—floating through Venice, matching the elegance of the architecture, and reminding us that we belong in these beautiful spaces, too.

I love staging my work in modern rooms because I think original art should completely anchor a home. I chose a large format because her presence deserves to command the room.
For the interior design lovers here, how does the scaling feel to you above a minimalist fireplace setting? I love how the vibrant background pops against neutral tones.

Kinda embarrassing but I had to pose and take multiple photos of myself so that I can have reference photos for this painting, some of the poses even look like Michael Jackson heehee 😭🙈
