2021 x7 xdrive40i! Please let me know how to make this sound better!
I have a 2024 X7 xDrive40i, 50,115 miles on it.
Has anyone ran into this issue? I’m contacting our dealership tomorrow when they open.
ETA: title should say “Drivetrain Fault”
I purchased my first BMW X& after being a loyal Toyota and Lexus vehicles. I did all my research for an over a year. I purchased a used 2024 X7 7months ago with 51k miles. Not certified but through a Hendricks store with the 12k 1 year warranty and an extended warranty. Love this all Black M features (no V8), ride, speed, MPG, tech etc. This past week at a business lunch my X7 wouldn’t start and this warning message displayed. I had it towed into a dealer and said it was the battery. I believed I was lucky. Yesterday on a date with my wife while driving the warning displayed again. I am pissed. I researched that this year make was very dependable. WTF!? I am thinking of dumping this X7 (with mixed emotions). Someone convince me to keep it. Is this the BMW norm?
Recently both my wife’s and my app are failing to start our ‘23 x40i. I did confirm the remote start is enabled in climate menu and none of the things listed in the error message are true.
Anyone have any ideas?
I was at a shop having a Dash cam installed and saw their ad on tint. Given the recent heat wave I thought it’s a good idea. Wasn’t pushed into it at all.
Probly should have asked it here but oh well. Am I going to regret it?
Hey All. curious what tires you all are getting for the x7 for front and rear:
tires for front 275/40 R22
rear 315/35 R22
Looking to take advantage of the 4th of July “Sale”
So I got a notification this morning around 6:30am during my morning skateboarding routine down the Embarcadero and it was a Monthly Review from the myBMW app. Caught me completely off guard, and holy moly guacamole I did not realize how much I ACTUALLY drive as a 31 year old small business owner in the Bay Area.
I always say that these days you gotta work twice as hard and accept the fact you are getting paid a fraction of what your expertise is worth because the value of the American dollar has been…. not so great.
Yeah I feel like I make decent money, but it’s more so how far my dollar stretches these days and how things that were once easily attainable, start to feel almost impossible to achieve. For example like a home that was actually built to last not these cookie cutter post-COVID houses that flop in the wind, but a real house in a decent neighborhood where I can raise a family.
Anyways sorry for my rant, this Official BMW Monthly Review just put a lot of things into perspective.
help, I don't know what problems may lie or whatever; it's 1 owner, but comes as is.
A reputable shop in my city is quoting $2300 for full front PPF (full hood, bumper, fenders, mirror caps) with Llumar Platinum, and $1200 for ceramic coating on rest of the X7. All includes paint correction.
Is this a reasonable cost? Shop gets great reviews all around. They’d need the car for 2 full days to do the job.
Will have to drive an hour out for it but found a 2023 X7 i40 with Executive, Climate Comfort, and Parking Assistance. Skyscraper Grey Metallic exterior and upgraded Coffee Merino Leather with 22” wheels. The exact spec my wife wants. 40,016 miles (13,012 mi/yr) for $54k or OTD around $58K. Sitting for a little over a month.
Not a CPO, and the clean 1-owner Carfax is kind of sparse. No records of oil change until the dealership that got the car performed it. Should I be worried, especially with the big maintenance items at 50k mi like transfer case, front/rear differential, and transmission fluid?
Going to confirm with the dealership, but if the 4 yr/50k mi manufacturer warranty is still in place, would I be able to take it to a BMW dealership to get it serviced? Can and should I get an extended BMW warranty? Won’t be able to do a pre purchase inspection but will the original manufacturer warranty save me?
Hoping this car will last 3 future babies.
6/29 edit: Called BMW dealership that sold the car to first owner. In service is 3/15/23 and confirmed warranty is still active with option to extend.
Oil changes at 10k, 19.7k, 26.9k, 33k, and 38k. Brake fluid flush at 38.3k. Unaddressed open recall that will be taken care of at the BMW dealership.
Transferrable maintenance package that covers oil changes and air filters till 3/15/28 or 75k mi as well.
Anyone rocking two rear facing car seats in the second row? I’m only 5’ 10’’, but we can’t do this (if I need to drive) in my wife’s Q5. Wondering if we could get away with this in an X7. Also, if you are doing this, did you go bench or bucket seats? 🙂
Looking at a 2026 BMW X7 Tanzanite Blue, but nervous about maintenance of this color and swirl marks. Owned a black car in the past and it was difficult to keep clean. Any long term feedback and did anyone ceramic coat right away?
Looking at this video and I can’t figure out how to configure this on the BMW site.
I was set on buying, but the more I’ve researched, the more I want to wait for the G67 X7 next year. So I’m planning to lease one for the next year as a bridge.
I’m completely new to leasing and would appreciate any tips on how to navigate it without getting taken advantage of by dealers.
When I visited the BMW dealership, I told them I just had tested a Navigator and they have employee pricing running through the end of this week. Can I use that sale/promotion as leverage to negotiate a better lease deal? Not sure if that’s even how it works.
Feel like this is a good deal and is the exact color combo I’m interested in. Rate is not final yet, more focused on OTD pricing right now.

For some reason the USA is the only region that does not get the M badge on the fender for the M60i. But if you look at the car shot in the overview it is there. So I ordered the badge and it is looking like it is supposed to.
I’ve been handwashing my 2026 x7 which takes about 2 hours. Wheels and tires alone take up an hour. Getting a bit long in the tooth for me. How are you keeping it clean?
