How Do I Turn off the Auto Start/Stop?

I don't like that the car turns off at each stop. I want to retain the comfort settings, but turn off auto/start stop? I don't want to drive in sport mode all the time either. Anyone here conquer this issue in a '25 X7 40? Ugh.

First Start failing 2021 X7 40i

About every 2-3 days I try to start my car and I get these messages, doesn't feel like it's actually trying to start the car. Hit the button the second time and it starts up no issues. About 55k Miles, I did code it to start in Sport Individual mode to stop auto start stop over a year ago. It is not part of the starter recall that others are. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

$65,000 for a loaded 2023 X7 with 24,000 miles. Help me decide.

I've been watching the used X7's for about a month now. My wife particularly likes the Manhattan Green, and I know those are hard to come by. We found one recently that's a 2023 with 24,000 miles xdrive 40i in the color spec that we like. It has a ton of extra options like merino leather, dynamic handling, parking assistance pro, driving assistance, m sport, premium, captain's chairs, etc.. It has about 6 months of its original warranty left, plus an additional year of warranty (unlimited miles) from the dealer because it's CPO.

They are basically at $65,000 and not willing to negotiate. Seems a bit high to me for a 2023, but I've only been really watching the prices for about a month now.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Please help me decide whether to pull the trigger or wait. Thanks :)

X5 vs x7 for wife?

We are debating between 2026 x5 40i vs 2027 x7 40i. We have a 7 month old right now and will likely have another kid in the next 2 years.
We both prefer the drive and look of the x5 however the second row seems a little tight. I would not be able to fit a rear facing car seat behind me if I was driving comfortably.
The x7 has drastically more second row leg room and trunk space. We likely would only use the 3rd row a few times a year for road trips and when family flies in so would mostly be down.

Also wife would be driving this mostly with the kids on a daily. I’d drive it on the weekends when we go out as a family.

Wife’s concerns are driving the x7 given its larger size and I guess the looks, which is subjective.

Interested in the X7 for Uber

Hey everyone, I'm currently a 26. I’m currently working a Uber Eats driver out of my beloved 2007 BMW X5 with the reliable N52. It might be controversial, but I’m single and don’t have a lot of responsibilities so I make pretty good money for myself.
I'm now looking to expand into Uber Black and am considering upgrading to a BMW X7.
Since I plan to be on the road full time, using the vehicle for work and as my living space, reliability is my top priority.
Could the community recommend the most reliable engine options, and also share insights on tire durability and replacement costs for continuous road use?
Or do you guys think I should stick with the BMW X5 with a GO5?
I’m looking to buy use specifically the pre-LCI.

M50 Front lip

Does anyone have some examples or a front lip on a white pre-lci X7?

Other than black on black combos I haven’t really found an example of what I’m looking for. I don’t want a full body kit, just as minimal changes as possible to update the aesthetic.

Since I need to get my bumper repainted after a recent parking lot incident, color matching lip could be an option. I don’t want to end up looking like a temu XB7 though. What do you think? Open to product recommendations too, just pulled this one for quick mock ups.

Updated X7 M60

Got a X7 M60 a month ago. Posted on here and heard you all loud and clear (see previous post). Things I did.

  • painted grill black
  • painted badges black
  • wrapped the chrome bar on taillights
  • got black exhaust covers

Much happier now. Love the color contrast.

Joined the club. 2020 X7 40i.

Bought my wife this clean 1 owner, no accidents freshly traded X7. Couldn't pass it up.

91k miles, and drives like an absolute dream compared to the 2018 limited Highlander we’re coming from. The B58 and ZF 8 is STRONG.

The service history and options sealed the deal for me. Mineral White Metallic with Coffee Vernasca Leather.

-Premium Package: Remote Engine Start, Soft-Close Doors, Rear Electric Side Shades, Head-Up Display, Gesture Control, and the upgraded Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.

-Driving Assistance Professional Package: Active Driving Assistant Pro, Traffic Jam Assistant (hands-free under 40 mph), and the 3D Live Cockpit view.

-AND a Factory-installed Class IV Trailer Hitch (7,500 lbs towing capacity / 750 lbs tongue weight with the automated Hitch Zoom camera.

Spark plugs done at 55k. Brake fluid flush completed every two years. Brand new factory starter and fresh battery at 79k miles. At 45k and most recently at 85k front differential, rear differential, and transfer case fluids were all completely serviced.

A nice surprise, I checked the My BMW App last night and discovered the car has an active corporate 3-Years of oil changes valid until February 2028!

Verify 22" wheel, squared setup

Hi folks,

I traded in my 21 Porsche cayenne GTS for a fully loaded 21 BMW X7 because a full size suv with a 3rd row is a must at this chapter in my life. The X7 is just fantastic but I want to get some aftermarket wheels.

I think I made up my mind on the wheel but unsure of fitment and can use a sanity check.

Considering the Rohana RFX11 in 22x10.5, +35 squared setup with 10mm spacers. I'm trying to go after a flush fitment, goal is between 22-25 offset.

Even asked chatgpt to generate a few images and although they're off, the color looks great.

New to the X7 platform and wanted to make sure everything is good before I commit

Weird popping noise within first 60-90 seconds of driving

2024 x7:

For the past few months, there is a single popping noise happening. It’s always within the first 60-90 seconds of driving. It sounds like someone knocks once right above the passenger side with their knuckle. Someone else described it as the sound of a golf ball hitting the car.

A slew of people on BimmerPost have the same issue, and one guy said his mechanic finally heard it and was waiting to get the diagnosis… and of course they never updated their post.

Has anyone else experienced this or know what the heck it is? I assume it has something to do with the sunroof motor, since that’s the only mechanical thing that would be up there….

Help me commit or tell me to move on…2022 x7 m50i

2022 BMW X7 m50i in Dravit Grey with Tartufo Brown.

So….been looking for this spec for an about a month now. I want the 19-22 x7 front end and don’t want the redesign. Looking for this color in a 22 is tough, it was an added option that year and there aren’t a lot out there.

With that being said, car is a one owner, maintained well, all service done at BMW dealership. Being sold by a Jaguar dealership. Doesn’t look like any fluids were changed at the 60,000 mile mark which is a concern for me (transfer case, diff)But recommended service at 30k, super meticulous Carfax/ service record for life of vehicle. Someone took car of this car. Car was even regularly detailed when serviced. Tires were done recently. Brakes were done at 60k, car is CLEAN. Serviced well at 90k replaced plugs too.

Now….heres the thing, and if you’ve read this far your probably like, ok what’s wrong with her?…..

92k on the dash!

Someone did a lot of driving. I got the info from the original dealership that serviced the vehicle, got in touch with the original owner, and they explained long commute highway driving daily user.

Other work that was done throughout its life, work on AC, two rotors when the brakes were done, and a door lock.

Dealer is asking $36k for car, good deal according to kbb, but I want to get her for $34.5k which would be “great deal”

This is the exact spec I’m looking for, literally everything, even down to the rims and hitch. And interior wood grain. The car is for my wife, but I’ll drive it as well. We put about 5-6k on our current family car per year (2022 telluride sx prestige). Tell me what you think you, what’s your gut saying?

And I know what a lot of you will say, get an extended coverage policy, transfer case could go, air suspension is a problem when it gets older brittle lines will fail, turbos….Take a look at the pictures, and you tell me what you think. Or tell me your horror stories and convince me, Or tell me your love stories and convince me the other way.

Thank!

Update:

Haven’t made up mind either way yet but you all have been super helpful, really appreciate it!

Got a follow up from the bmw dealership that serviced the car throughout its life, ac evaporator was leaking at 65k! they replaced it at that time and no other record of issues I can find.

Got more info from selling dealership, Tires on car are BRAND new and rear rotors and brakes were replaced by the dealership selling the vehicle.

Noted on pre-sale inspection: “oil seep found on intake, no correction needed” ….AI says could be nothing or could be something, what are your thoughts? Certainly seems like a concern to me.

My thoughts, and again, haven’t committed to buying or walking at this point, still in the homework phase. Dealership okayed the PPI, haven’t talked price yet, but thinking about asking dealership selling vehicle if they would be willing to service transfer case fluid and diff fluids front and rear free of charge. It is a jaguar dealership affiliated with the bmw dealership that it was originally serviced at. Is this a good idea? Or don’t trust a jaguar dealership? Otherwise this gives me some pull to ask for discount on asking price to account for this service that needs to be done.

Anything else I’m missing or should be aware of? Thanks again for all the help!

Sweet spot for Selling

Time to sell for X7 2020 xDrive40i. What’s your sweet spot? Based on a car maintained through BMW’s recommendations.

I have one I got around 45k which now has 63k. I feel like I want to offload it before 90k, as the numbers look better on paper for buyers. I still trust the b58 zf8 a lot, as I had a few before I put to the test for thousands of miles. No real issues currently.

I’m sure everyone has their opinions, so let’s hear it. Leave your comment and wait for the replies.

Edit: If I sell, I’d likely just want another with less mileage, haha.

2025 X7 a/c air speed

Has anyone else noticed that the a/c on the 2025 X7 is extremely weak? Even at the highest level (5) it does not blow nearly has hard as any other vehicle I currently own or have owned.

It is also very loud (especially he 2nd row when it's turned up) which would lead you to believe that the force of the air would be stronger.

Am I alone in this?

Also, why are there no vents in the 3rd row.. it is unbearable back there!

UPDATE

after some more exploration it appears the vents on the dashboard in what looks like is a speaker in the middle are air vents that they consider front vents not defrost vents. so when you have it on the face vents air actually comes out of those vents on the dashboard.

Another should I buy?

Been eyeing up and working on a deal for a 24 X7 m60i with 27k miles on it. It is CPO fully loaded other than the BandW speakers. I got the dealership to 77k, it has a minor damage on front end that’s been fixed and doesn’t show. They agreed to do the transfer case fluid change as a PM thing because I requested it.

Planning to trade in my 23 tundra platinum and got them to 44.6k trade in on it and I don’t owe anything on it.

Pinchy Pennie’s is not a necessity for me and money isn’t really a problem.
I’m not in desperate need of a change but dislike driving paranoid about my tundra motor and wanted something more luxurious.

I’ve been debating for weeks now if I should wait and see what X7 m60s pop of for sale after another year.

The only thing sticking me to this one is that it’s like one of the only ones near me under 80k and is in decent shape.

Help guide me in the right direction because I do not want to regret this purchase.

Transfer Case Question

My X7 was just serviced and I asked them about the transfer case. They said mine wasn’t showing any signs but if I wanted to do the preventative fluid replacement I could around 80,000 miles. My car currently has 62,000 miles on it. Has anyone done this? Has it helped? What mileage did you do it at?

2027 Telluride vs. 2024 BMW X7 — help me decide

I’m stuck between a brand-new 2027 Kia Telluride SX Prestige Hybrid and a used 2024 BMW X7. They’re roughly the same price (~$58k).

On paper, the Telluride seems like the obvious choice: newer, full warranty, tons of features, lower maintenance/ownership costs, and probably a much more rational financial decision.

But I’ve owned BMWs before and really enjoy the driving experience, interior, and overall feel of a BMW. The X7 is obviously a much more premium vehicle, even though it’s used and will cost more to maintain.

I’m basically trying to decide between the rational choice (Telluride) and the car I actually want (X7).

For anyone who has owned either/both or made a similar decision. What would you pick and why? Especially interested in thoughts on long-term ownership costs, reliability, and whether the X7 is worth the premium.
