A Day to Recharge Is Never Wasted

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your goals is step away for a day.

Relax, recover, and come back ready for the next challenge. That's today's win.

51 y/o went from “normal fit” to 9% body fat in 16 weeks – stats + routine

I’m 51 and decided to see how far I could push recomposition with strict tracking, a consistent routine, and a medically supervised protocol. Over 16 weeks (Jan–June 2026), here’s what happened:

- Weight: –16.8 lbs.
- Fat mass: –18.6 lbs.
- Skeletal muscle mass: +1.4 lbs.
- Final body fat: 9.0% confirmed by DXA/InBody.

Training

- Program: 5‑day hypertrophy split
- Schedule: 6:00 AM lift, every training day.
- Cardio: 30 min incline treadmill after lifting (7.0 incline, 3.3 mph).

This routine was the backbone of the whole process.

Protocol (very high level)

I used a “medically supervised” combination of:

- A potent GLP‑1‑based drug for appetite and thermogenesis.
- Thyroid support and a stimulant for output and focus.
- Testosterone and HGH‑based support to protect muscle and recovery, plus insulin‑sensitizing meds.

I tracked BP, HR, and bloodwork throughout; my HbA1c stayed at 4.7%. This is not a recommendation, just transparency about what I ran.

Why I’m sharing

I used to think that after 50 you mainly try not to slide backwards. This experiment convinced me that, with structure and oversight, aggressive recomposition is still possible in your 50s.

If anyone’s interested, I can go deeper into the training progression, diet, or how I monitored health markers; I’d also love to hear how coaches here would design a safer, low‑risk version of this for older lifters.

15-17-18 260-170-153.5lb (aspiring classic phyique competor)

260-170 I did alone, from 170-153.5 I’ve been working with a coach he’s brought me far, I think we’re gonna stop cutting in 2 weeks not sure tho. He wanted me at 10-12% before we start adding tissue, what you think my bodyfat is?

Confirmed with Coach we are making the switch to classic. Sucks having to re qualify but I think I have a brighter future than staying in open

M36, 170lbs ->214lbs -> 194lbs. 10 months. (Enhanced)

Had a fairly successful bulk over winter. Was able to put on 44lbs of scale weight. Definitely could have done better in the fat gain side but I feel I’m getting close to the same body fat percentage I was in the first picture but 24lbs heavier.

Split was the standard bro style. Body part per day 5x per week. Zone 2 cardio (incline treadmill) 5-6x per week.

Diet was 90% clean. Did have more cheat meals than I would have liked. Cutting again down to 188-190lbs.
