How are you guys holding a job or passing interviews smelling bad?

I’ve had body odor for six months now and I quit my job for personal reason. I’m worried I’ll have the same issue elsewhere in terms of me smelling. I’ve tried hibiclens antiperspirant and it feels like my armpits just stink even if I wash them midday and reapply deo.

At last! A cheap remedy for underarm smells in clothes

For years, I’ve tried everything to get rid of persistent underarm smells in clothes. I’d have to finally resort to throwing them away.

However, I decided to finally try an old fashioned remedy of making a thick paste from white vinegar and baking soda and spread it liberally on the underarms of my shirts. I let it sit on there at least a day.

And then I washed and dried them and voila! No smell whatsoever! My old favorite shirts have been given a second life.

Hope this is helpful :)

*Edit: I know the baking soda and vinegar basically neutralize each other. I’m not saying they create some magical cleaning chemical. 😂
I’m saying the method works. I make a paste with them, put it directly on the stinky underarms, let it sit for at least a day, and then wash the shirt. The BO is gone.
My understanding is that the combination helps loosen the sweat, body oils, deodorant residue and odor that get trapped in the fibers, and at least 24-hour contact time gives it plenty of time to work before the washing machine removes everything.
So maybe the vinegar and baking soda aren't magically working together chemically. But the paste + the long soaking/contact time absolutely seems to work. It’s worth trying!

P.S. I don’t sweat very much. It’s like a hormonal/stress type of BO that even Secret Clinical deodorant doesn’t work on completely.
But, I just now came across this article saying that the source of the odor (bacteria) can be removed by washing underarms with Benzoyl Peroxide wash, so I’m gonna try that!🤞

Job

My parents are forcing me to apply for jobs and i have a few jobs interview set up soon but the thing is I finally feel like i have found the cause of my odor after countless useless products that were never going to do anything looking back now and the only thing I can do is wait and let time tell but I'm actually positive I'm not going to get any jobs until the odor has died down but has anyone been able to get a job AFTER their odor started Is it better to just be straight up and be self aware and honest as possible to the interviewer does anybody have any tips??

*Also it's a basic crew manager fast food job I don't think I'm able to find or apply for jobs that are away from people yet

I smell like putrid onions no matter what I do

Things I do to get rid of it but do not work

Only wear tank tops

Not eating onions and garlic

Using aluminum-free antiperspirant deodorant

Using aluminum deodorant

Using scent free products

Using heavily scented products

Putting on antiperspirant right after the shower

Washing my armpits daily

Not using any product

Shaving and not shaving

Lotion

Using gender specific products

I've been doing pretty good at hiding the smell by constantly scrubbing armpits-lotion-deodorant-spray but sometimes the smell leaks through if I've had high emotion that day

Things that trigger it

Crying

Being mad

Excited

Not shaving

Using a lot of products, it makes me sweat more but covers up the smell at least

Sleeping

I only wear tank tops because it's so hot but a 30 mins after putting them on the armpits already have wet deodorant stains that look like I rubbed lotion on my tank top, and being a 20 yo female this makes me feel like a disgusting mess every single day and I'm giving up

chlorophyll

I have life extension chlorophyll capsules(supposedly copper-free but I'm not sure). How often should I take it? Is anyone else taking this? Wondering about safety because I have bad reactions to too much metals.

No deodorant works for me

I’m so confused. Every time I buy deodorant, I try a different brand. I used to want the newer brands, like Naked, because of the bad rep some of the OGs were getting. However, I gave up because I couldn’t tolerate getting stinky within an hour, especially since I have a lot of nice clothing that I’d really rather not feel like I have to wash every single time I put on. My issue is not sweating excessively, though I have no problem with using antiperspirant. My issue is SMELL—not horrible armpit odor that’s horribly distracting. But—persistent, dependable, run of the mill BO that is nevertheless annoying and stays on clothes. What actually works?!??!? But doesn’t stain clothes? I’m tired of beating my deodorant.

What other jobs?

I hear people say security but uhhh i got a criminal record from when i was 18, which was years ago so i can’t get a security job. Online job uhhh, don’t really know where to start I don’t even have a laptop just my phone and im not really a sales type of person. Truck driving maybe, but id have to wait a couple years to get a truck license since i haven’t even started my regular car learner license hours yet (i drive alone daily just always been too lazy to fill out my learner hours). Maybe ill get a laptop because im thinking online jobs are the best jobs for people like us but then again I don’t know where to start any suggestions? Do you guys do online jobs or other jobs that give you better peace of mind? I’ve worked as a warehouse worker, forklift driver, labourer, machine operator… and it’s a terrible time with this condition. Looking for something else im getting tired of the embarrassment everyday.

About 30 years ago, my mother developed a rotten odor from her mouth/nose after eating food made by a close friend It lasted about a year despite dentists, antibiotics and probiotics, but chlorhexidine stopped it. Later she ate the friend’s food again and the odor returned. What could cause this?

I feel mentally insane

This isn't advice for body odor but more on how are you guys copping with this. The past few months have been hell. I feel like im going mentally insane and ive become such a bitter, self centered person. I go to therapy and that doesn't work because im constant reminded that I smell. It has made go from a good employee to a bad one. Ive been wanting to quit but I cant which adds on to the anxiety and bitterness. I have isolated myself completely always in my room, always sleeping or on reddit just doomscrolling. My only friend I have talked less too and when plans are being made I tell her I can not show up for her so our dynamic has definitely changed and that bums me out because 1. im have become a terrible friend and she might even come to ending the relationship. Which feels like it's non existent since ive been doing ok. it just that talking to her makes feel like shit because she gets to do enjoy her life while I smell like shit. Understand it's not her fault but I guess I want to avoid that feeling as much as possible. Idk overall I feel like a loser and stupid and just mentally makes me feel like im going mentally insane. For some time ive been thinking of using something to numb this but ive seen people with addiction and it never ends well. ill probably end homeless hating a life that I know isn't for me because I could do so much but im having difficulty changing things since im always in my head. I guess I just needed to vent on here and maybe a stranger can give me a different take or share their story.

Is there any way to make a good first impression if you smell bad?

I have room filling sulfur like chronic bo and I'm about to start working in public after pretty much being in hiding for over a year. The interview was over the phone and I kind of feel it's the only reason i was hired because I seriously think if they smelled me I wouldn't have gotten the job offer. My odor problem was a daily issue at my old job and I'm terrified that the same thing will end up happening this time and I'll just be fired quickly. I can't see anyone wanting to deal with someone in the workplace who stinks as bad as I do. This will be my first time starting off a new job already smelly. A lot of my coworkers at my last job knew me before this happened so I already had an established reputation as a decent employee so they didn't fire me (I quit the job due to all the rude comments, exclusionary behavior and reactions and the major anxiety and depression it caused but I know better and won't quit this one)

Have any of you gotten new jobs since your odor started? If so, how did you cope and did people treat you normally?

I can’t figure out why I smell so bad at work.

Lately me and my coworkers have noticed a smell coming from me and I can’t figure out why. I take three showers daily, wear old spice powdered deodorant, and some cologne. I wash my body twice while taking a shower, I always carry around an extra deodorant, and I make sure to always wear clean clothes. I work in a fast paced restaurant, so I’m always hot especially since they refuse to turn on the ac. It’s more than just b/o, so maybe it’s my cologne mixing with the smell of the restaurant? I’m not gonna wear any cologne today just to see if it makes a difference. Might even change up my deodorant. Do you guys have any recommendations for a guy?

Double cleansing

Guys I’ve dealt with showering and still feeling like I smelled bad no matter what but I recently discovered double cleansing and it’s changed my freaking life , dove bar soap and going in with the dove antibacterial, try it you guys, lume full body, antiperspirant deodorant dove before bed, tongue scraping, mouth wash I use Thera breath, I mix xylitol toothpaste with Colgate whitening toothpaste, \*\*fiber(\*\*Metamucil), insulin, these are when I constipated because at one point I couldn’t poop and I’ll smell it even without farting or being able to go. Suppositories worked such as neilmed, leave in fur 15 mins, if not let it go(it works immediate) use this once every 2 weeks the suppository is super strong, ginger shots from Whole Foods (solti) brand, raspberry has worked for me with this brand, stomach breathing, for 4 secs, gym, walking, lemon and olive oil mixed, rose water (edible) you can find all of this stuff on amazon, mix the water with reg water and lemon juice fir flavor

Persistent BO

This is like my third post about this but it’s seriously making me mad because I’m doing so much and spending a lot of money and effort on smelling good and after everything, I stink. I woke up smelling like onions, took a shower and I still smelled it.

I’m average weight, 18F, moderate activity every day, and I shower and wash my hair daily. I wash with The Perfector Salicylic Acid Wash and dry my body off completely after every shower. I put on deodorant in the morning and at night, but the only one that seems to last through the whole day is Dr. Squatch “man” deodorant. I use scented lotions and perfumes on top of cocoa butter lotion. Internally, I drink a chlorophyll supplement, tea with cloves, anise, cinnamon, and fenugreek, take fenugreek supplement, and avoid strong smelling foods like garlic, onions, and cruciferous veggies. I eat decently healthy every day and I’ve been drinking more water, especially in the form of tea. I sometimes use baby powder after a shower but it’s annoying because it gets everywhere so it’s not a regular thing.

Is there anything else I can do?

Has anybody tried fecal transplants?

I've heard this could help with dysbiosis. I'm just wondering if this could potentially help body odor caused by extreme bacterial imbalances. I can't find anything on Google about it or even reddit. Does anyone know anything about this or ever tried it?

Is my diet okey? tryng to deal with fecal BO

I'm a 15M and I have suffered for a couple of years of a room-filling body odor, that would appear mostly at school.

After convincing my parents to take me to a doctor, i've got diagnosed with H.Pylori.

However, after having complete the treatment, the odor did not disappeared, so i figured out i was probably affected by a SIBO or a gut dysboisis.

So, the smell is fecal and i have no idea of where It comes from, i suppose it's from my gut, altough It could have to do with my breath as well (tough it's almost surely not a hygiene issue).

Let me clarify that i cannot normally smell It except when there are much people in a room so the air comes back in my direction.

Other than school and few occasions, i've never really noticed any reaction to It, altough in those mentioned occasions reactions are really obvious, so It could have to do with stress as well.

However, now Is Summer and, till the end of the vacations I have no real way of knowing the result of my actions.

So, the main point of the post Is that i've started by 3 almost there months by now, a diet excluding striclty gluten, lactose, sugar (except fructose).

I've tried consuming low FODMAP foods, altough i'm not sure of how well i'm doing It.

Right now, my usual diet consist everyday of:

Breakfast:

Porridge, buckwheat snacks, coffe with coconut milk and blueberries.

Lunch:

Turkey, Rice, Rice snacks, blueberries and coconut milk, and sometimess another meal as well.

Dinner:

Rice, Rice snacks, blueberries, coconut milk, and One or two more meals as well.

The whole list of foods i eat Is:

White Rice, potatos, Turkey, spinach, zucchini, broccoli, eggplant, tomatos, peppers, coconut sugarless milk with calcium and vitamins, ricesnacks, buckwheat snacks, blueberries (i eat around 10-15 everyday).

On liquids i end up drinling around 1,5-2 l of water and 0,8-1l of coconut milk everyday.

Am i missing something?

I have no ways of getting feedback till Summer ends, and i would hate going back to school smelling so badly once again.

Should i add or remove any aliment?

Am i consuming too much carbs and sugar through Rice?

Should i add probiotics (i used to take them in the First month of the diet but then i stopped) or any integrator or digestive enzyme?
