Body Odor?

I shower twice a day, use anti bacterial soap, body wash, etc but the people who sit near me or beside me always seem to do something with their noses, and when I say "always," I mean every day(I don't use perfume because I worry that if I have body odor, adding perfume would only make the smell worse.). Because of this, I started thinking that maybe I had a body odor problem, so I decided to see a dermatologist. Before my appointment, I just did my usual routine. By the time I arrived at the clinic, I was already sweating a lot because I had used public transportation. My dermatologist asked if I had been sweating, and I said yes. I then asked her if I smelled bad. She said no, and to be sure, she asked if she could check for herself. She smelled my scalp, hands, ears, body, and underarms, and she told me that I actually smelled good. What confuses me is that even before going to the dermatologist, people sitting beside me on public transportation would often touch or rub their noses. Even people sitting in front of me would look in my direction and do the same. This also happens at the clsssroom(my dermatologist told me that they might just be bullying me), on public transportation, and even at church. Because of this, I keep wondering if I smell bad, but my two friends who is also my classmates have consistently told me that I don't. Am I just overthinking this situation? If my dermatologist examined me after I had already been sweating and still said that I smelled good, should I trust that, even though I keep noticing people around me touching their noses whenever I'm nearby?

Why do my partners clean towels smell after using them to dry off from the shower?

Ok so whenever I stay at my boyfriend’s place and take a shower, the towels always have a scent akin to mildew once we’re done with them. The towels smell clean whenever they’re washed, and they always get hung up properly after use. The bathroom and rest of the living space doesn’t have a mold or mildew problem either. Could the towels smelling musty be because one of us has a body odor problem we’re unaware of?

How do I properly use PanOxyl 10% Acne Foaming Wash for body odor?

Hi! I recently bought the PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash 10% Benzoyl Peroxide after seeing a lot of people recommend it for body odor.

- For those who use it, how exactly do you apply it?
- Which areas do you use it on (underarms, chest, back, etc.)?
- How long do you leave it on before rinsing?
- Do you use it every day or only a few times a week?
- Do you apply deodorant afterward?
- Any tips to get the best results or avoid irritation?

my bf says i smell musty down there

me and my bf have been dating for 6 months. over our 6 month relationship, i have given him head a-lot, even ignoring the musky scent he has because i know its just a penis and its not going to smell like nothing. sometimes, he’ll try to finger me or eat me out, but will stop and say i smell musty, or like a boys locker room down there. this has really hurt my confidence. i take showers everyday, i wash the outside of my vagina with dove un sensitive soap, and spray whole body deodorant on my creases and folds and even put on a little witch hazel to keep it fresh. ive told him that maybe its just my discharge that makes it have a musty smell when i get wet, but he just tells me im coping.

is there anything i can do to improve it, i know for a fact that i dont smell but he says im blind to it.

Progress

I'm starting to think finding the right digestive enzyme is a major game changer for me along with no overly processed foods, vitamins, low dairy and no refined sugar. I've been eating bad this week (had a meal from the cheesecake factory & some of a Hu chocolate bar) but I haven't experienced any increased odor or the exteme heat feeling that usually comes with eating trigger foods. I believe the enzymes help my body break down & evacuate food better and the other vitamins/supplements I take help as well. I do cook and eat mostly at home too. I've even been able to use a scented body scrub and I didn't notice it mixing with my smell and making things worse. I actually still smelled it on me the next day. (It has now been 4 weeks since I started eating mostly clean)

Update

It’s me again. It’s been a few weeks since I last gave an update. I won’t give weekly updates anymore because it was just too discouraging to see I wasn’t making any progress. My constipation isn’t as bad anymore. I took MiraLAX for a few days and that definitely helped and now I’ve just been having diarrhea. I still feel a little backed up but I’ve been using the bathroom once a day though. I unfortunately was eating a food trigger which was peas so I cut that out quickly. Now I just eat 80 ml of rice, carrots, chicken seasoned with salt pepper, and paprika and I use olive oil in both the rice and chicken. I eat about 2 to 3 times a day leaving at least 6 hours in between each meal. I also eat a mandarin and kiwi (gold and green) a day. Unfortunately I realized that I shouldn’t be eating the kiwi skin like yesterday so I stopped that too 🫩 ugh this is so fucking hard but I have noticed an improvement in my smell for sure. The food though is actually so yummy I’m not even mad or bored with my diet yet. Oh I also have ate baked lays which YES I will stop but they don’t hurt me so bad. Please give my advice and ask questions!! ❤️

What do you guys do for work?

I'm finally trying to get a job. Last time I worked was as a cashier at dollar general in 2019. I've been trying to find jobs that are outside or look like they require little contact with others. But, I don't get many responses. Went two to 2 interviews, I'm pretty sure I smelled bad for both, so I ain't getting those.

Maybe, I just smell worse than most people on this sub. I'm very hygenic though. I brush teeth. Shower throughly, under forskin, butt, ears, feet, armpits. Ok, I'll admit, sometimes I do wear the same cloths for a few days (maybe weeks), but theirs no way that would make em stink as bad I seemingly 'natrually' do. I'll try cleaning cloths mroe often, but I think it will help like 5% at most, so not much.

I workout a lot too, but I have workout specfic cloths that I weare all the time.

I don't know if anyone will even hire me. But, I guess if i do get hired, I'll have to thug it out. My diet has been shit too latelly. I'm not sure if I diet is hte reason I smell so bad. I'm trying something else right now.

Doctors and body odor

I went to two doctors one for body odor and one for my bad breath they basically said the same thing, that they don’t smell it. Why do they do that? basically saying I’m mentally insane. What’s there logic

BO smell

30yr old male here.. I struggle with BO badly. I work in a warehouse so other people are often subjected to my smell. It is rank. I shower daily right when I get home from work or about midday depending on what’s going on at home.

I wash my hair 2-3x a week and rinse on days I don’t actually wash it. Laundry is washed regularly and if I don’t switch it to the dryer in time I just rewash them again on a short cycle. I use anti-perspirant after I dry off from the shower and again before I leave for work the next morning even use some around my balls.

Problem is it seems to do nothing. I wash with antibacterial soap and mix some old spice in so I can still get a clean smell on me. Today for example I smelled awful after maybe 5 minutes of work. I’m at my wits end trying to figure out the issue. Degree always worked for me for years but seemingly stopped, I’ve tried women’s (secret) and am currently trying out Harry’s which doesn’t seem to be working either.

Anyone else ever deal with an issue like this? If so did you fix it and how? Can diet be an issue? I don’t drink as much water as I should but I do drink water. Food isn’t balanced as it should but I do try to eat at least one healthy meal a week. I’m willing to try pretty much anything at this point. Bad enough I already know I stink cause I can smell myself but having a coworker or Supe bring it up to me as well is just icing on the cake.

Sweat that smells like rotisserie chicken

Hello, I hope you are all doing well.

I'm sorry for the question, which may seem embarrassing, but I'm a little ashamed to ask someone irl.

Is it normal that my sweat smells like roast chicken? I eat very little meat and no chips.

Lactulose is working well for Tmau!!

I am basically eating throughout the day only one shower and I am not smelling at all. I only eat things such as green giant green maybe a thin slice or two of turkey meat on a thin slice of bread… carrots, salad, but I use butter leaf only not the salads that are mixed in because they have the cabbage in them cabbage juice, etc. gets on the lettuce. I cut out the cheese, I may use a little chicken on my salad, but I’ll try to limit the meat now…and of course this liquid is making sure I poop every day which helps also, but it acifiys the gut so you don’t smell when you eat. I tried to eat a ton of things; chicken and cheese fajitas and I ate a bunch of yogurt, I ate a bunch of cereal and I think I ate a slice of pizza but I ate a bunch of stuff and just overloaded my system with chloline and then I started to smell again, but I cut that out and then kept taking my liquid lactulose and my smell went down or was nearly gone within a day or two as opposed to a week or two. Ai said that I could eat chicken every day and it not bother but I don’t know about that anymore lol…but everybody is different and maybe I just overloaded my system with too much stuff at once likely…. but at least now I know it doesn’t work for me eating a bunch of stuff… even though Lactulose is supposed to work well when eating moderate amounts of Chloline, my body just does not deal with it that well.

But I’ve never really had a time in 30 plus years that I could shower but once and not smell. I see all these success stories and people take many things to keep them from smelling but this stuff that was studied for Tmau actually works for me. I think it’s worth you guys trying out. I just take 2 tablespoons three times a day and take my vitamin B 2, 3 times a day and just keep a lower chloline diet. that’s it, not a bunch of other supplements and stuff. And I shower with naturium energizer body wash and If I take a bath instead of a showe, I soak in a tub with about 2 tablespoons of citric acid for about 15 minutes a few times a week and then use my body wash. I don’t use other lotions or anything else.
I do eat some things that I’m not supposed to, but I don’t overload my system like I did a week ago and I’m going through life just like anybody else, odor free, thank the Lord Jesus.🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏

Why does my sweat smell sweet?

My sweat has smelled sweet since middle school or high school. The closest smell I can compare it to is maple syrup.

My dad has diabetes, but I get regular health checkups every year and I do not have diabetes. I also do not have any major health issues that I know of. It is not Maple Syrup Urine Disease either.

It usually happens when I play sports or work out. Once the sweat dries a little, it starts to smell sweet. It never really bothered me, so I ignored it. But some friends have noticed it too and said I smell sweet.

One extra detail is that my regular underarm sweat smells more like normal body odor. The sweet smell is more noticeable after sports or workouts, especially after the sweat dries.

I wonder if it could be related to dehydration. For most of my life, I have not drunk much water day to day. I drink a lot after sports or workouts, but my normal water intake is probably lower than average.

I am not asking for a diagnosis. I am just curious if anyone else has had naturally sweet-smelling sweat and whether they ever figured out what caused it.

TLDR: My sweat has smelled sweet like maple syrup for more than 15 years, mostly after sports or workouts. I do not have diabetes or MSUD. My dad has diabetes, and I usually do not drink much water. Curious if anyone else has experienced this.

“Can your smell really go that far?”

I understand the skepticism. I understand the paranoia. But the end of the day, no one in this subreddit truly knows exactly what it is. Yes, doctors from way back when have outlined their understanding of BO/FBO/TMAU to the best of their abilities but to this day, it is an extremely under-researched topic.

I, myself have experienced some bizarre things related to this condition. You would never think that it could reach the distance but after countless observations, I just cant deny them anymore. From my understanding, I’m excreting a chemical compound certain people are able to scent causing reactions.

And more often than not people refuse to believe some mysterious smell is originating from them. No one wants to be a stinker surprise surprise. So it doesnt hurt to give them the benefit of the doubt. I do admit some stories doesnt seem plausible, even to me. But what I’m not doing is being an asshole trying to discredit their experiences. Keep it kind or keep it moving.

For a subreddit who understands how horrible and judgmental people can be, you guys sure do seem to turn around and do the same things to others. We are all trying our best to navigate this hellscape.

Did anyone else's body odour get slightly worse after going to the gym?

I've been going to the gym regularly for about 1.5 months. And recently I've noticed my body odour smelling worse. My b.o used to smell like nothing before. I've replaced a lot of fat from my body with muscle, is it the cause?

Persistent body odour is ruining my life

Hi all I'm 24 F and before October last year I NEVER had a body odour problem.

Last year I went on a trip to Japan and on the second day went to an all-you-can-eat beef restaurant. Needless to say everyone ate WAY too much beef. Now I feel it's important to mention that I do not come from a beef eating household and was pescatarian for around 4 years since I was 18. So this was definitely a LOT of beef for me. Since that day I noticed that I started stinking a lot. I'd never noticed this smell before but it smelled almost like catpee and would be super persistent no matter how much deodorant I applied. I was travelling with friends and would get so embarrassed that I bought more deodorant to spray on as the day went by. This smell wasn't horrid but it was definitely noticeable at least to me. Across the trip there was more beef eating (I hadn't made the connection yet) and so the smell lingered.

Cut to a few weeks later and the smell is BAD. Like tradies after a full day of work bad. I shower and scrub and within 10 minutes of leaving the house I can smell myself. My friends had even started to drop small hints about the odour without trying to hurt my feelings which made it even worse. I tried avoiding beef for a long time but that didn't help. I went to the doctor and she said it might be stress or hormones and that I should just try to cut out beef and see what happens.

For months I tried EVERYTHING I possibly could. Using antibacterial soap, medical grade anti perspirant, glycolic acid, exfoliation, using a bar of soap and then liquid soap, layering perfume. Nothing helped and as a girl who used to love smelling nice this was absolutely devastating. I felt like a lowlife. After a few months of being extremely embarrassed of myself and hesitating to go out which affected my mental health immensely, the smell went away... for a little bit. I hadn't eaten beef but I had eaten goat which leads me to wonder if it's any sort of red meat that causes this smell. Chicken doesn't seem to affect me the way other meats do.

I have also tried exercising and eating more vegetables but that didn't seem to help. I'm just scared that this will be a life long issue and that I will always be stinky and no one will want to hang out with me... : (

Has anyone experienced something similar and/or been able to fix it??

I feel like everyone hates me and I'm in a self fulfilling cycle of isolation.

I feel like a leper. I feel untouchable. I feel smelly.

I shower several times a day with a fresh rag, antibacterial soap and acidified body wash and scrub every piece of my body. Deodorant, baby powder, one wear max before laundering on ANY clothes, wash my sheets once a week, I don't know what else I can do.

People have complained when I'm 30 minutes out of the shower. I do sweat a lot, and sometimes I can smell like a yeasty smell when I've been sweating all day, but otherwise I'm clueless unless someone addresses it, which multiple people have in the past, but not often. It's humiliating. It's isolating. I don't want to go outside and subject others to me. I feel like everyone hates me because I'm offensive without ever trying. What do I do?

Stomach Growl and Breath Odor

For about a year now, I have been experiencing frequent and loud stomach growling, even when I am completely full. This happens most noticeably in quiet spaces. Along with this, I've noticed a change in my breath odor, and I suspect it might be originating from my stomach.

These symptoms are now severely impacting my daily life and mental health. At work, I find myself staying quiet and avoiding talking so people won't notice my breath, and the constant stomach noise in the office is causing me a lot of anxiety. It has even made me hesitate about renewing my employment contract.

I really want to get back to normal, and I would appreciate any guidance on what tests or treatments that might help me to know what am I experiencing.

Salamat po!
