Tallest build so far!!
One of my favorite characters. About 1 1/2 feet tall.

I just finished building my Yamato battleship, and I'm trying to create a dramatic, dynamic sea scene to go with it.
I've experimented with a few materials and ended up using cotton to simulate waves and a waterproof sheet for the ocean surface. However, the final result in photos doesn't look as good as I hoped.
Has anyone tried something similar or have any suggestions on how to make the sea effect look more realistic and visually impressive? Any tips would be really appreciated. Thanks!
hello, all! i really want to get into lego and things alike, but some of the lego sets are too expensive for my budget right now and i have no idea where to search and what kind of sets i'd like... so i'm asking you all -- what are some sets you'd recommend to a newbie and what brands should i look into?
i really like the lego flowers series or their camera. regular things made from bricks seem fun! but i'm open to all! my budget for one set is maximum 20 euros, but i'd like something that takes time and focus to build... :)
thanks!
I don't know if this is the right subreddit to post this to, but here I go. I recently got gifted a box of old Lego like bricks.
Does anyone know more about these? Are these some rare very early bricks or just some cheap knock-offs. (I am guessing the second) I think these are from the 1950s early 60s.
I really love this model but I'm not super chuffed with these calipers.
Specialised pieces bother me. If they get lost or broken, you have no choice but to order new ones. Say what you want about Lego but they always like to have alternative uses for things before they decide to start producing them.
I hate doing this, when I was a kid bit but.
When I was a kid I ditched Lego precisely because they started going nuts with specialist pieces and I wasn't the only one. If you've got 10 year olds turning their backs on their favourite things then you know you've fucked up.
I would love to know what you all think. Does it scratch the Pirate Itch? I know I had a lot of fun with this. Would anyone else consider adding this to their Pirate scene or collection?
I keep seeing possible sets for great prices, but a few years back, the wife and I tried getting a large millineum falcon and were scammed. So now we are gun shy about trying any alternate to Lego.
Welcome back Commander!
I bought this online, and while it obviously isn't official Lego, it looks great.
I've got another set to build, and I'll post pics of that when done. I'll definitely be buying the other sets to go with them - I need a Nod Obelisk!
Now if only I could find some Red Alert sets.
This set is just about perfect. The level of detail is incredible, but my favorite part has to be the flight deck. There's just something about a warship's deck loaded with helicopters and equipment that never gets old
I think that was the toughest gearbox I've attempted. Hope it all works OK.
Collected Lego for decade, never even considered other brands.
Recently ran into Barweer’s sets and gave their ‘Pathfinder’ Star Wars-based ship a try.
Simply phenomenal. The price was a joke it was so low and I couldn’t see a difference in brick quality with Lego.
Bought their Crow Castle next. Needed some Crow Knights - online had 8 for 10% of the aftermarket cost of ONE official figure, and they have more printing.
What is Lego doing with its pricing? Even major collectors like myself are now straying.
The last few years I have been hoping to set up a mini figure station for my students to create their own at open house. Everything I've looked into is super expensive. Any ideas to create something similar on a teacher budget?
This thing actually looks way better in person than I expected. The mirror effect is kind of wild once the lights are on.
Would like to make something other then the 3 in 1. Any suggestions?
I usually stick to regular building sets, but I wanted something different for my desk and ended up trying a flower bouquet set.
It took me a few hours to finish, and I was surprised by how relaxing it was. Each flower has a slightly different build, so it didn't feel repetitive, and I actually found myself slowing down instead of rushing to finish.
The instructions were clear, and everything came in numbered bags, which made it pretty easy to follow. A couple of pieces were a little looser than I'd like, but nothing that caused problems once everything was assembled.
The finished bouquet honestly looks better than I expected. I don't think this replaces fresh flowers, but it scratches a different itch. It's part puzzle, part decoration, and now it sits on my desk without needing any care. The included fairy lights were a nice bonus too—they make it look surprisingly cozy at night.
It's obviously not the same quality as LEGO, but it's also nowhere near LEGO prices, so I think it's a fair trade-off.
Anyone else here into brick-built flowers? Curious which sets you've enjoyed the most.
Just arrived! I was really worried about this one. I kept checking the tracking and for three days it didn't even say that it was posted until early last night. Now it's here. Don't care now.
Anyone built this thing?
Now I know what you're thinking but in my defence, it was cheap and I'm a complete imbecile.
