life, by traumprinz

Yo I've been a Burial stan for some time and after playing every song on repeat I've eventually needed to give the tunes some rest and go on a journey to find more tunes that give me the euphoria that Burial has. I just discovered traumprinz incredible discography and I know he is a legend and well known for many years before I ever heard this. But this truly scratches that itch of fiending for more Burial dark euphoria that I get lost in. The song The Day After Tomorrow made me think of Burial, and if anyone in here doesn't know about Traumprinz I can't recommend him enough! Truly transcending with this. I feel like the SpongeBob meme where he is floating with his headphones. Check it out family! :)

Archangel - Synesthesia Visualizer

I have synesthesia and this is an attempt at recreating what I see when listening to this song. Thoughts?

Burial Listening Parties

You know what we really need, we need an official Burial listening party, something organized by the fans. I don’t know how we could do it, but I think listening parties are essential for music like this. We know William will never play live, and that’s fine, and Kode9 is like our only hope for hearing live Burial from the source. Something at night, in the dark, in nature, under the stars, maybe somewhere abandoned. Plus I would love to meet others who share the same love I do for his tunes. There are so many things I’d love to share with others about the music. Idk, thought it would be a neat idea. What do you think?

Look what my friend gift me for my birthday 🥹🖤🖤🖤

First of all, greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷

A friend of mine just gifted me this amazing Burial t-shirt and a Burial vinyl, and honestly I’m so excited about it that I had to share it here with people who would truly appreciate it.

The shirt isn’t official merch, but it’s absolutely beautiful. The color is literally the same grey tone as the Untrue era artwork, and it has so many small details. It even came with a sticker. You can tell whoever made it actually cared about Burial’s aesthetic and atmosphere. I rarely get Burial-related stuff where I live, so this genuinely meant a lot to me.

Also, small side note:
I’m a music producer. I make melodic techno nowadays, but some time ago I made a special track only for this subreddit/community. I never officially released it, never shared it publicly, and honestly I probably never will.

The track is literally called “r/Burial” because it was made as a tribute to you guys and to the feeling this community gave me back then.

If anyone wants to hear it, I’ll leave the private link here. It’s unlisted/private.

Hope you guys like the gifts as much as I do 🖤

the new Truant clear repressing came in and looks amazing.

sounds great as well, this came in alongside the Hyperdub 20th anniversary repressing and sounds about on par.

Burial sample in new Avalanches track?

The Avalanches released their new single “Together” this week ahead of their fourth album.

From 2:26 there are some very Burial-esque drums which made me wonder if it’s a direct sample. It immediately made me think of Ghost Hardware.

As a side note, it’s an incredibly fun track and, in true Avalanches fashion, there are some very nostalgic samples but with sounds from 90s/00s tech. The use of the Nokia startup sound is 🤌🏻

What do you all think of this compilation?

Not sure if I ever listened to this much Burial in one sitting. Anyone ever give this a full listen in one go?

Future garage production discussion....

How do you all like to approach writing this music and also avoid being pigeonholed into copying others works?

For example- doing Burial tribute songs never interested me but I always like to try to find a uniqiue angle when writing anything.

I also personally use more synths than samples which has its pros and cons.

I wrote a Substack on Capitalist Realism and Burial's Debut Album

It's not going to be as technical as many would like; I wrote it more to introduce the topic of capitalist realism through the medium of music to people unfamiliar with the concept. I've already had someone message me saying "communism sounds good in theory...", which kind of proves the point.

Anyway, Burial's debut album (which Mark loved) has just turned 20, so I thought it'd be a good time to talk about the sounds of lost futures, etc.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Any recommendations for artists with Burial-esque drums?

Specifically the sonics, hard hitting, shuffling hypnotic rhythm combo that is especially prominent in his earlier work. Looking to find more artists with similar drum feel/vibe.

Thanks in advance! Cant wait to check out your recs 😄
