Vote Fishback over Donalds

Hi fellow Floridians,

I’m going to make this short and sweet. I am a Floridian born and raised, through and through. The passion I have for Florida cultural heritage, history, and hope for our collective future is bar none. With that, if you are a republican and voting in the upcoming Florida primary. Please, please vote for James Fishback over Byron Donald’s, a RINO who is not even from Florida but from New York City. A vote for Byron is most certainly a vote for big banks and big corporations to have more influence over our state than us, the people. Byron has worked for private finance (TIB Bank & Wells Fargo) his entire life before politics. He’s crooked and corrupt, having failed to disclose insider stock trading moves over $1 million and marrying someone so she would get in-state Florida college tuition and then divorcing after they both graduated. Also , where is he getting all his campaign money from (linked below)? From corporations, private interests like AI and data center companies. Data centers are the last thing our state needs. Florida is already starting to feel like one big city which is a shame because we have one of the most unique and sensitive environments in the world. I understand you can’t stop progress, but we should be more thoughtful about the ecological balance we’re striking. Lastly, Byron didn’t show up for the debate, bc he knows he can’t go toe to toe against other candidates on the real issues. I’m a Florida gator but this guy is as swamp as it gets and not the good kind. He’s a political opportunistic and would certainly serve the needs and interests of the elite before serving the needs and interests of the average Floridian. Please, do NOT vote for him.

Anniversary for locals

Hi guys, I need help. My anniversary is coming up and I want to do something local but special. We are both from here originally and wanted to do something to kind of celebrate that… we do our best to love where we are, even if it’s not where we’d love to be. Things we have talked about are a romantic intimate wine and oysters or charcuterie with a nice view (beach, restaurant, water, a towel on the beach at night), a *nice* sushi spot with ambience that isn’t the same old experience (we are huge foodies, and have tried most spots), we also toyed around with getting a hotel room on the beach at Sanibel or fmb - but being locals we can’t afford to stay at all the spots lol. I would love to hear any ideas. Bonus points if we can either be close to home in the cape or in a hotel for the secondary celebration, if you catch my drift. We are trying to keep it semi affordable but also want it to be special so we could splurge a bit - we were considering $250 hotel rooms. I’d love to hear any ideas or suggestions!

Affordable gym options

Hi All,

Wondering what my options are for affordable gyms other than Planet Fitness. Are there any gyms that also have a pool that are relatively affordable?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Worked SWFL restaurants for years. Watched summer gut everyone's hours, every year. So I built something — and I'd rather locals roast it than strangers praise it.

I came here from Serbia and spent years working Naples restaurants. Every May the same thing happened: the snowbirds leave, the schedule shrinks, and half the staff gets told to "hang in there until October." Meanwhile restaurants running skeleton crews are one no-show away from a disaster night.

Both sides need each other and neither can find each other — job boards are built for résumés, not for Tuesday's dinner shift.

So I built Putora, a swipe-to-match app for shift work (free for workers, on the App Store and Google Play). I'm not here to sell anyone — I'm here because you all know this market better than any investor deck does.

What am I missing? What would make this actually useful for Cape? Honest criticism genuinely wanted.

How would someone get into mowing grass with tractors around the cape

I see people mowing lawns or fields with tractors pretty often and I was wondering how someone would get into something like that because I love tractors and there isn’t really any big farms in Cape Coral

Rooster behind suncoast credit union on Santa Barbara across from high school

If anyone is able to grab a rooster, poor thing has been on the corner behind the suncoast. Called a shelter and they are closed for the day. I don’t know how to handle roosters or chickens and am very pregnant so not able to catch him myself :(

Edit: just moved to FL, not sure if chickens/roosters just roam free here or not

I need just one persons to take a chance on me 🙏

I have a full time job that i love, but it isn’t paying the bills by itself. It is so difficult to live out here on one fixed income. Picking up more hours where I’m currently at won’t help me because I’m on salary.

I’m looking for something long-term and flexible. I’m very reliable. I’m a leader and I go above and beyond in everything that I do. The current job I have I’m a manager, so I work five days a week . Hoping to find a job I can work on my two days off from there. I’d also be able to work the mornings on the nights that I close. I’m even willing to work doubles on my two days off. Please message me if you have a job opportunity that I can apply to

Is Cape Coral quietly one of the safest rental markets in Florida?

For what it’s worth, Cape Coral stood out in a 2026 rental market analysis we ran that ranked cities using ROI + crime together, instead of looking at cash flow alone.

Interesting stat: Cape Coral ranked #5 overall and was the safest among the top 10 markets with just 1.1 crimes per 1,000 residents.

That’s what made it interesting, some cities with strong cash flow dropped hard once crime risk was factored in, while others moved up because of better stability.

Data is useful for screening, but neighborhood-level reality always matters more than city averages.

Locals here probably know this market far better than any dataset — does this match how you’d rank the best and worst neighborhoods in Cape Coral for investing?

Is anywhere hiring?

Dude I can not find a job here anywhere right now. Is anywhere actually hiring around here? I’m desperate to work right now! If anyone has any leads please let me know.

I have experience in database management and customer service. I have some experience as a waitress. I also have a lot of experience as an elementary assistant teacher.

Tennessee Volunteers Watch Parties

Hi friends!

Quick question - my stepfather is a massive Vols fan, and he was talking to me about how it's mostly Big 10 fans in his area and he doesn't know where to go to watch the Vols games with fellow Vols fans.

Does anyone know of any good Vols watch party bars? Or maybe even just a local bar that usually prioritizes the southeast region as far as college football goes? I know it's not quite season yet but I didn't know if there were ones that had been established/have been Vols hangout spaces for previous seasons.

Thank you so much!

P.S - I apologize in advance if my vernacular isn't accurate - I don't follow sports that much, please forgive me!

P.P.S - I am not here to talk smack, I'm just trying to help my stepdad. Thank you.
