Well I got my scolopendra subspinipes, I realized they were from Indonesia. Malaysian dealers import Indonesian individuals with the tips of the fang trimmed due to legality, all individuals of centipede require to trim the fang tips but I fed it with pre killed insects and they do eat em. Welcome to give more tips and advices I might commit mistakes as a newbie to centipede too tq

An update on my centipede that had eggs

About a month ago I made a post about my centipede having eggs. Today I checked on her and there are babies! I've read that some species exhibit matriphagy. Does anyone know if Scolopendra viridis exhibits this behavior?

My Scolopendra galapagoensis has fully recovered

The day I received my centipede, it wasn’t doing well, thought I was going to lose her. A week later, after closely monitoring and hand feeding, she’s doing great.

Scolopendra Dehaani bracelet made by me

Just wanted to share this bracelet I made based on dehaani’s!! I made it with polymer clay, paint, soft pastels, and sealed with resin. It’s not perfect since my hands are a bit shaky, but i tried my best and I’m pretty proud of it!!

Island of Madeira, where to put this vicious creature?

I know it's not harmful to humans as there's barely anything truly poisonous here, just want to know where to put it so it's happy and safe!

Baby centipede?

I found this tiny fella while digging in my garden. Is it a baby centipede, or just a very small one? Located in eastern NC

Enclosure opinions

(No centipede... yet?) Does this seem appropriate to a Dehaani? Is it enough side ventilation? Too little substrate? Too little or too much moisture in substrate? You can probably see in the photo the lower levels are currently moist and the side with the water dish is pretty moist to the top but otherwise top layer is dry. I think maybe also add some bigger leaf litter, the kind it could crawl around in? At least my small centipede seems to enjoy that. I would really appreciate any input!

Scolopendra multidens

Hey y'all, new to having invertebrates. I'm setting up an enclosure for our new addition to the family, a Scolopendra multidens 'Yellow Leg' (Chinese Beauty Centipede) and I'm running into a looooot of conflicting information online vs reddit. Many places only say to use coconut fibre substrate but the consensus on reddit is NO. I've seen some people say they they use sand? Is peat moss also out or do y'all mix it with other things?

For their enclosure, we bought this glass {not tempered according to the exo terra site} that my husband and I will be drilling {he has drilled holes in glass in the past so he has the tools needed} for proper ventilation. Is this okay? It's kind of too late to get a different enclosure but will figure something out if our modifications are not the right fit for them.

Also, I've seen people say they feed their centipede fruit like once a month? They are only 4" so we were only planning on giving them superworms in the meantime as I feel like they are too small for dubia roaches but I do want to give them a variety of food.

sad update

some time ago i posted photos and videos of freshly bought dehydrated s.mint legs and that it got normal again.. it was fine! i thought that she will live with me at this point because she was eating and drinking water normally, and she was a speeder for a moment, trust me! i was so happy she recovered but yesterday ive found her dead. no idea why ehh..
there are no visible clues of cause of death and i dont know if i killed her or if there was something more wrong with her other than dehydration …

How potent is Scolopendra sp. "White Legs" venom?

Me and my family members agreed to get S. Heros because there is a lot of information out there that heros is mild and plenty of handling to show they're not 'asian pede' potency, but I'm having a really hard time sourcing one. Polymorpha is an option but I'm hoping for bigger.

I see some information online stating that Scolopendra "White Leg" is actually less potent than heros, and some of the sellers of the pede wouldn't give a straight answer of "its like a wasp sting", "Its like one of the asian species", "its S. gigantea and they're generally safe", etc.

I don't plan on handling but wanted to hear more thoughts on them incase I need to pivot because of Heros availability. A comparison would be appreciated (hornet/wasp/vietnamese pede/etc.

bad news

so 5 days ago i found an Otostigmus who had recently molten near a creek in a forest, he had plenty of legs missing a cut on one segment, one antennae missing and the other one prolly hurt, i decided to take him home to let him rest, recuperate and maybe be able to make this guy go any further.
but sadly since last night he is totally unresponsive and he curled his head a bit weird, also he didn't changed position for the last 6 hours which i find weird.
Is not my first time keeping a hurt centipede but it is my first time that it got worse instead of better, i keep him on a humid sheet of paper with a small container with cotton and water so he could drink from it without drowning, i did not tried to feed him because his exoskeleton is still hardening, the place he stays at is dark with good ventilation and relatively quiet.
also that red stain on the paper wasn't there until this morning, there is no smell on it so i didn't tried to change trying to evade any stress on the centipede

I wanted to know if anyone can help me identify what could've happened to him and if so what can i do to help him.

this is him at 5pm

this is him 1 day ago
