Where to Purchase First Home?

Excited couple, looking to purchase our first home and interested in this area of the central coast. My main priority is SAFETY, friendly peaceful neighbours! I am a female and I walk the dog early in the day.

We are mainly looking at Bateau Bay, Killarney Vale and surrounding suburbs. It’s around the middle point to where we both work.

Alternatively, our budget also can buy us around Wyoming, Lisarow and Narara, Ourimbah. We do not commute to Sydney, but go as a day trip once a week or so.

Would appreciate any advice about aforementioned suburbs, and if any residents can share about the general vibe of the area, best schools, best and worst aspects of the area!

Looking to move to Budgewoi

Hi guys, looking to move to Budgewoi.

Can anyone give me some insights to the schools in the area, as well as crime rate?

It’s just myself and my daughter and I just want to be safe.

Thank you.

Making friends in the coast

Hi Guys, I am a 22-year-old Kiwi moving to the coast as my mum lives here. Will be studying my master's in teaching.

How does one meet people their age here? I don't drink, so not into that kinda stuff. Also not a big beach fan; what an absolute shocker ikik.

Looking for gym around tuggerah.

Soo i have been thinking of going to gym soon. But i am really introverted and prefer as less people as i can, so was just wondering if there are any gyms that are not as full or busy. Or what are the best times to hit a gym when its quiet.

Wedding ceremony singer

Hey!

Getting married in December this year and I’ve got the DJ sorted for the cocktail hour and reception but he can’t do the music at the ceremony. I’m looking for a singer that can do the gathering before the ceremony and the ceremony only.

Thank you!

anyone else sick of driving to Sydney for everything?

living on the coast for a while now and I love it. but sometimes it feels like anything decent is always a drive down the F3.

I've been wanting to try pilates but it seems like all the good studios are in Sydney or maybe Gosford at best.

anyone on the coast found a good studio locally? or done the home setup thing and stuck with it? I'm near the entrance but don't mind driving a bit if it's worth it

A year in Gosford and looking to build a proper social circle

Hey everyone. I’m 27, originally from India, and I’ve been living in Gosford for about a year now. Work keeps me busy but I’ve realised I don’t really have a crew here yet, and I’d love to change that.

I’m pretty easy-going and up for most things — hitting the gym, martial arts classes, fishing, or just grabbing a few beers on the weekend. Doesn’t have to be anything structured; I’m just keen to meet people and have some regular faces to hang out with.

One heads-up: I don’t have a car yet 😁 so I’m getting around on public transport — but I’m happy to travel, chip in for petrol, or meet wherever’s easy.

If you’re around the and want a gym buddy, a fishing partner, or someone to grab a drink with, drop a comment or shoot me a message.

Happy to meet in a group too if there’s already a bunch of you. Cheers!

council any help?

my neighbour has a very aggressive dog who barks all day, all night. im very sensitive to noise and have been losing sleep because it won’t stop so i had sent in a complaint to the council saying i worry it will hurt someone and i want peace and quiet. well as much as reasonably possible lol.

they responsed saying they mailed my neighbour and want me to fill out of a sheet of all the times the dog is barking. so my question is has anyone done this? and was there anything to come of it? i may as well just fill the form in but where do i keep my expectations?

thanks. :)

PSA check your bin size, you might be able to save ~$170–$340 a year

Random thing I found out while looking at council rates, so thought I’d share given how expensive everything is at the moment.
If you’re in Central Coast Council and have one of the larger red bins, you’re actually paying extra for it every year through your rates.
The standard red bin is 140L.

If you currently have:
240L red bin → dropping to 140L could save $170.98/year
360L red bin → dropping to 140L could save $339.84/year
360L red bin → dropping to 240L could save $168.86/year

There’s also a $44.60/year difference if you have the larger 360L yellow recycling bin and go back to the standard 240L one.

Obviously if you fill your bin every week, probably worth keeping it. But I reckon quite a few households have the bigger bin and rarely actually fill it.
$170 a year isn’t going to change your life, but for something you’re paying every single year anyway, I’ll take it.
The Council form also shows that downgrading the bin itself has no additional charge.

Here’s the actual 2026/27 Central Coast Council / 1Coast form with the prices:
https://1coast.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/New-Additional-Residential-Waste-Services-Request-Form-2026-27.pdf

Might be worth walking outside and checking what size red bin you actually have 😅

Looking for part time work around Tuggerah/ Lake Haven

This is a bit of a long stretch to ask here, thought i'll try. I have been applying for a few weeks to get a part time/second job and i was wondering if anyone knows of any places around lake haven or tuggerah area in which are looking for workers? I have Tuesday, wednesday, Saturday and Sunday available and am looking to fill in my spare days off my current job. I have my RSA/RCG and i've got over 4 years of warehouse experience and 1 year of customer service! If there's any work, even if it's 2 of 4 days available that i've listed, i would seriously appreciate it (and yes i have been applying through multiple job sites) just really looking to get a second job :) thank you so much in advance!

Childcare suggestions

Hi! Me and my husband are moving to central coast from UK with a baby on the way. I’m wondering about childcare options once the baby is born. I will have to join work 3 months after delivery. We are a bit anxious about putting the child in daycare due to fear of them catching frequent infections. How expensive is keeping a nanny? Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Recommendations for a good GP

Hi everyone, looking for recommendations for a good GP.
I have an autoimmune disease which I see a specialist for, but I’m looking for a regular GP who can help manage my general health alongside my specialist.
I’ve had some good GPs in the past, but unfortunately they’ve moved on, so I’m hoping to find someone I can stick with long term.
Ideally looking for someone who is thorough, actually listens, is comfortable dealing with autoimmune/chronic conditions and is happy to work alongside my specialist and keep on top of blood tests, medications etc.
Happy to travel a bit for the right doctor.
Would really appreciate any recommendations, particularly from anyone who has a GP they’ve had a good experience with for ongoing health issues.
