Big Al’s, Billerica MA (round 2, better than the first time!)
Second time I’ve hit this spot, much quicker experience today being the middle of the week (15 minute wait for the sandwich). It was better the second time. If you’re living in the burbs of Boston and jealous of all these incredible looking steaks from the Philly area, get on over to Big Al’s.
House made seeded rolls, thin sliced ribeye, with onions, perfect amount of cooper sharp. They make em till they run out of bread!
I have still never had a cheesesteak from the Philly area but I imagine this is about as close as you’re gonna get around these parts. They also make a roast pork and a buffalo chicken cheesesteak that are on my list to try.

Pizza steakd at home
Ny strip shaved by hand, onions, mushrooms, peppers, pizza sauce and my custom blend of cheeses on a tiger roll. I live in New Zealand where philly cheese steaks or pizza steaks or any of the various spin offs are few and far between and generally use something like slowcooked brisket rather than grilled shaved steak, so what I make at home is as close as I can get to the real deal based on everything I've read about them, so please forgive me for it not being the proper traditional style! I typically use shaved rib eye but they had whole ny strip for sale at the store which I was happy to shave by hand.
Is a stainless steel flat top grill better than a blackstone? For cheesesteak
reddit.comLiguria in Philadelphia
Figured I’d sneak the pizza in there
Cheesesteaks on the Flat Top

Saw this over in the gluten-free subreddit and thought this one is pretty bad: https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/s/U2cXNOF7bX
Penn Ave Pizza and Steaks, Pittsburgh PA
Finally Pittsburgh has a place that has a legit cheesesteak. Seeded roll, cooper sharp, fried onions.
Johnny Longhots - Wildwood, NJ
After trying four contenders, Johnny Longhots is the clear winner for best in Wildwood (IMO). A&LP second-best.
Cooper sharp, seeded roll. So good, might be going back tomorrow.
Spicy Chicken Cheesesteak, Little Sicily II, Philadelphia
The sandwich is not only the best chicken cheesesteak, but it is probably the best cheesesteak in all the land.
Lucatelli’s Pizzeria Newtown, PA
At first glance it looked meh. Once I got into it, it improved immensely and surprised me actually. Much more weight to it than it looked to me. The roll was nice a soft and not too dense. I’m not a big fan of when the roll overpowers the meat and cheese. This roll had a nice consistency and chew. The proper ratio of cooper sharp, chopped ribeye, and new age roll. This is up there with Angelo’s and Cafe Carmela IMO. They have locations in Doylestown and the new one in Newtown if you’re in the area. Side note, I’ve had their pepperoni pizza and was underwhelmed big time! Weirdest pepperoni I’ve seen in a while. The kind that curls up and has puddles of grease in it. Will try other pies at some point but just FYI. Cheesesteaks are a solid 9/10 though!
Off the food truck right outside the shop tonight
She was a lot better than the microwave one I had last night. And for coming off a chicken truck too. I like to think that if I had a food truck I would definitely sell Phillys
It's been months since my last cheesesteak
I recently had stomach surgery and was on a liquid diet for a while. I'm still transitioning to real foods but felt it was time for a cheesesteak. I cooked these up for the family last night. 2lbs of sliced ribeye, 1/2lb of cooper sharp, Corpollesse seeded rolls. Unbelievable.
The saddest Philly Cheesesteak you’ll ever see
