Guilty Pleasure Cheesesteaks
I posted this as a lighthearted affront to the insane gatekeeping when it comes to cheesesteaks, especially by my brothers and sisters in the Philly area.
The cheesesteak purists will tell you that fried onions and cheese should be your only options. Ketchup is ok as a condiment. They will also debate the type of cheese. Cooper sharp is the obvious front runner these days, followed by American cheese, wiz and provolone as the acceptable options.
So as a cheesesteak lover, what are your tastes that stray outside of the accepted norms? Do you enjoy the occasional cheesesteak hoagie with mayo? Or maybe one with mushrooms, green peppers and onions? Speak your mind and dont be shamed by the purists on this sub.
Personally I like a traditional cheesesteak with fried onions, american cheese and marinara sauce.
