Chennai autos really have their own personality ❤️

Chennai autos really have their own personality ❤️

Was on my way home from Arupadai Murugan Temple when I noticed this on the auto in front of me: “BE KIND TO ANIMALS.” 🥹❤️

Honestly, it made me weirdly happy to see something like this in the middle of Chennai traffic. We usually notice the colourful stickers, funny quotes, political posters, movie references and all the random things written behind autos — but sometimes there are little messages like this too.

Now I’m curious — have you guys ever spotted any interesting, wholesome, funny, weird or completely unexpected posters/messages behind an auto in Chennai? 😂

If you have pictures, drop them here! Would love to see what other little messages Chennai autos are carrying around.

Looking for a good IT academy with placement support

Hi everyone,

I already have some knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Golang, and DevOps. I’m mainly looking for an IT academy that can help me get placed in a good IT company.

I’m not looking for training from the basics. My main priority is placement assistance, interview opportunities, and connections with companies that are actually hiring.

If you have personally used an academy’s placement program, please share your experience and recommend the best ones, especially in Chennai.

Thanks!

How is Semmozhi Salai still in this condition when it is basically a gateway to Chennai's IT corridor?

This is Semmozhi Salai, Perumbakkam - the road connecting the Medavakkam/Perumbakkam side towards Sholinganallur and ELCOT.

Just look at the roadside. Garbage dumped everywhere (even the partial 100meters of the road which falls under GCC).

Thousands of people use this stretch every day. ELCOT is right there, with HCL, Wipro, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and other IT companies nearby. There are huge apartment communities all around Perumbakkam too.

What I don't understand is how an area this urbanised is apparently still under Panchayat administration and sitting just outside Chennai Corporation limits.

This doesn't feel like some remote village road. It's one of the main approaches to Chennai's IT corridor.

And because it's near the boundary, I genuinely don't even know whom residents are supposed to hold accountable. Chennai Corporation? Perumbakkam Panchayat? Chengalpattu district administration? Highways?

Forget beautification. Can we at least have regular garbage collection and stop the roadside from becoming a dumping ground?

I'm planning to raise this with the concerned authorities and tag CMO/Rural Development as well.

If anyone here knows exactly which authority is responsible for garbage clearance on Semmozhi Salai near Perumbakkam, please share.

Also curious to hear from people living around Perumbakkam - is garbage collection this bad inside the residential areas too, or is this mainly happening along the main road?

Why are they still using this? Why not use machines instead?

Saw this at the MMDA signal near Arumbakkam Metro Station. Why is this kind of inhumane manual work still being done when machines could be used instead?

Can’t we move towards safer and more humane methods of doing this?

Need your opinion on this

I couldn't get over this in my head, so typing it out here.

Today I was traveling in arakkonam fast and I got to listen to two boys speaking among themselves. One of them were said to be working at baby hospital as lab assistant some job and the other boy's wasn't known and both of them were from tiruvallur dist I guess. (I'm not degrading any specific district's people, it's just that few incidents like this puts down the whole reputation)

So one of the boys were loud and speaking with the other one saying, they beat someone and all. Eventually he started saying something constantly, "Aambala na bhayam irukkanum" probably he's saying this in the context of beating the couples who spend time privately in stations where there won't be much crowd. He was constantly mentioning, "adutha vaati bhayam irukkanum" maybe it could be a good thing too. But indulging in other person's private life is no one's concern, I believe. Also, this makes me scared that still there are even young kids who were raised with castist ideologies, even near chennai.

Then the conversation eventually moved into LGBTQ, the boy who was silent was saying about gay and things, and the boy who used to be loud saying, "Ussu nu sollu thala" adha laam paathale angaiye adikkanum, avanungalukku bhayam irukkanum.

All this was happening in a crowded train, and the boys were sitting in their seats as if sitting in a sofa, all cozy. Though they were dressed properly, their words and attitude felt pretty dangerous. But what felt even more dangerous was, no one were bothered about what they were speaking and sensitive it is.

Though there was one uncle who was silently saying to the next person, how bad these boys were speaking and how much of an audacity they must be having to speak about this in public.

Things like these will eventually grow in crime scenes and kids like them were encouraged to do these.

If you were there, what would you've done. I'm extremely ranting over myself saying I couldn't do anything.

Chennai people, what's one food you can never get bored of?

Doesn't matter how many new restaurants open or how many different cuisines you try...

What's that one food in Chennai you can eat anytime and never get bored of?

Could be biryani, dosa, parotta, idli, kothu parotta, pani puri, street food, filter coffee + something, or even something very specific to your favourite shop.

What's yours? 👀

News from the US. Land of the free apparently.

Criticising India and TN for all of the shortcomings is required to improve. But let's not kid ourselves into thinking that everywhere else is utopia.

Edit. It has been pointed out that the lady didn't follow the minimum stay requirements of her Green Card. But is being detained like an illegal the solution? Pre-Trump America didn't behave this way.

Her detention came after a Judge had already dismissed a deportation case against her.

She couldn't follow the terms of her Green Card, as she came to care for ailing parents here, and then got COVID.

Should I adopt him? (Beware of cats who steal your home and heart)

I've been feeding a stray cat for a bit now. He'd come to my window and sleep there or just hangout for a bit if I am sitting close. Loves to come inside home and never leave. I am growing really emotional towards him and have been thinking if i should adopt. I don't believe in keeping the cat indoors always. I believe the animal needs his own freedom too. If i choose to adopt him, how much will be the regular vaccinations and other things for the cat. I also have severe allergies for fur so that also makes me think. Or should i just feed him regularly and let him be the stray king? Can someone who has experience in this, guide me. How do I go about this 4 legged creature that has successfully stolen my heart?

Found a surprisingly good burger spot in Chennai 🍔🍗🍟

Went to Henry’s with a few colleagues recently, and honestly, I never expected to find a place like this in Chennai.
We tried their burgers, Nashville chicken and fries, and everything was really good. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the fries were great too. They also told us that they use fresh ingredients and don’t use frozen items, which I thought was pretty nice.
Just to clarify, I’m not related to the owner or affiliated with the place in any way. We simply went there as colleagues, enjoyed the food, and I felt like sharing because it was genuinely a pleasant surprise.
If you’re into burgers, Nashville chicken and fries, might be worth giving Henry’s a try. 🍔🔥

Guys sorry for the confusion, it’s located in Perungudi. Link below

Someone make the clouds go away!

At this point I’m literally begging! Somebody, ANYBODY, make the clouds go away! I got a new-ish, kinda expensive telescope that can show amazing stuff in the night sky, but since buying it around end-April I’ve had about 2-3 nights of clear sky so far in Chennai. Any metro city is already the worst possible place for stargazing because of the horrendous light pollution, and then these fucking monsoon clouds all the time! Went almost broke buying the scope that’s since been gathering dust for the past 3 months!

Rant over.

P. S. Some of you might have come across a few pictures of the moon I took with my scope a few days ago, but here they are again anyway. Along with my scope. Because the moon’s kinda the only thing I’ve been able to see so far. Except on those 2-3 nights of miraculously clear sky (by Chennai standards). The last picture is of what’s called the Butterfly Cluster (famous cluster of stars in our Milky Way galaxy), taken from my Koyambedu apt. balcony with a handheld iPhone looking through the scope on one of those clear nights. Even with Chennai’s light pollution, you can still make out the shape resembling 2 wings spreading out of the butterfly’s body. That (and much more) is what the scope is capable of, if only the fucking clouds went away.

Rant really over.

It's about time to create a new slur word for people who watch reels and videos in public transport without earphones. Mudiyala 🫩

Almost every youngster has one but there are some who refuse to use it and blast reels and shorts on full volume cause they can't "hear" it 🤡

Education loan repayment plan

Hello, I bought an educational loan of amount 2.7lakh and I completed my graduation and working in a company with decent package.

Now the loan amount becomes around 4 lakh.

And from April 2027 interest will be calculated as compound interest.

Now what should I do, can I go and repay the full amount now or should I pay as installment or what's the other ways to do it smarter and help me to prevent from interest.

What are all other opportunities that I can do with the money that I have to neutralize the interest that covered in loan amount.

I need proper guidance and support people

Please help sister and brothers

Any idea where I can hire college going kid for tutoring?

I am looking to hire a tutor who can come home everyday and sit with my kids. They can study and also help teach in between. 2hours a day for 5 days a week. I'm thinking of paying 6k. Your role is to just make them sit with you to enjoy the habit of sitting in a place and write homework or indulge in some light reading for 2 hours.

Any other suggestions are welcome. And if your goal is to criticize/judge, please be a parent of 2 kids, working, managing a household, taking care of parents, cooking when cook is not available which is twice a week on working days, and plenty of other things that a parent does. Thank you.
