Rant: Denied rent payment because suspect of curculation payment

I am selling my house and moving to another city. Found a basement suite to rent monthly before buying at the new place. Set up a new payment via Chexy. The payment go to review for 2 weeks. I had to reached out to speed things up. Then today they denied it saying this is circulation payment?????

Just because we have the same last name doesn't mean we are relatives.

What can I do about this.

Chexy caused all banks to tank their reward system.

Scotia visa 4% is gone
Rogers MC cash back is gone.
Amex is restricting rent payments.
The wealth-simple and tangerine card do not seem worth the effort for 0.25% rewards.
Is anyone willing to share what they are using?

Chexy- TD cashback visa infinite: genuine reviews/alternatives please

I have Scotia momentum which is now down to 1% for recurring bills. While I was looking for options, I see only Roger’s and TD. I don’t get benefit out of Roger’s because I don’t have Roger’s or Fido bill. My cellular plans elsewhere are solid cheap. Now, I am left with TD cashback visa infinite.
Perks of TD:
Recurring-payment reward: 3%
Annual cap: CA$15,000
Annual fee: waived for first year, will reevaluate later
My rent goes up to 24k annual, 15k may not be sufficient enough.

What are other options for me ? Pls suggest, Much thanks! 🙏

Unpopular 6% Cashback Alternative.

Like many of us, I also use the Scotiabank Momentum for that sweet 4% cash back. But this year I started to dig thru some alternative foreign cards that would give me an additional cash back percentage.

We know that foreign cards have a 2.5% processing fee, so unless there is a card that gives a higher percentage, then using them may not be worth it.

I know everyone's opinion about crypto cards, etc, etc. Alas, I have been experimenting with a crypto card brand named Tria.

I have also tested this card in Chexy a couple of times, and it worked just well, I expect my next rent payment to use this same Tria card.

How much cash back does Tria offer?

I currently have the paid highest Tier, which was around 200 dollars when I bought it. There are some lower tiers but you want to get the premium version.

2.5% Chexy fee, plus 1.5% Tria processing fee, combined 4% in fees. At a 6% cashback monthly, that leaves the card with a sweet 2% cash back surplus.

There is a monthly cap of 2,000 USD per month to get 6% cash back, then 1% after that.

At $2000 per month, 2% cash back is $40 per month and $480 yearly, minus the card fee is approx $250 per year in surplus.

Keep in mind the yearly fee is sometimes lowered, there is welcome bonuses and referrals that help lowering the cost.

There is a monthly cap of 2,000 USD per month to get 6% cash back, then 1% after that.

So far with Tria I have earned back the annual fee, they provide cash back and their own token. Again risks of crypto, but at the end of the day any surplus is welcomed.

Please be aware of risks of owning a crypto card, this is for experimenting. DM me if you have any questions.

Is the ScotiaGold Passport Visa finally competitive?

If you spend $350 on things other than rent using the ScotiaGold Passport, you get 1.75% waived on your rent and stuff. So assuming you would otherwise get 2% cash back on the $350 spending that now has to go on the ScotiaGold, you lose 1% because the ScotiaGold only gives 1 scene point which is equivalent to 1% cash back easily. So you ‘spend’ $3.5 a month by diverting $350 in expenses to the ScotiaGold and then you’d get the 1.75% on rent and other stuff waived. And there’d be no limit so all your rent and everything else could make 1% equivalent cash back.

What am I missing?

After Roger MC is changing 1.5x Cashback what's the other alternative

Removal of 1.5x Rewards Redemption Value for Eligible Rogers Purchases
Effective as of November 18, 2026, all cash back rewards will be valued at a regular redemption rate of 1 point per

Chexy should reduce fees to 0.5% to prevent mass cancellations after Scotiabank Visa changes

I urge Chexy to consider reducing fees to keep customers in light of devastating changes that Scotiabank Visa announced.

So far we enjoyed 4% on rent, minus big fee 1.75% leaving us with comfortable 2.25% cashback reward on Rent.

Starting October 22 Scotiabank Visa will only allow 1% reward on rent which renders their cashback program useless (I am cancelling my card).

I will continue to use my Wealthsimple Visa card with 2% cashback with no cap. However, Chexy's 1.75% fee (or 1.5% fee with $200 annual price tag) makes no sense.

I say, drop your fees from 1.75% down to 0.5% with any additional price tags. This way we can continue using your service, cover the fee and get reduced 1.5% cashback on rent.

Otherwise I am cancelling Chexy, too.

Amex Cobalt

Just curious, why is the Amex Cobalt never mentioned as a go-to card to use for Chexy payments? With the changes to SB Momentum and Rogers, options seem to be dwindling.

I'll cancel my Scotia card

Only reason I got it was because I could get a few bucks in cash back with my rent, they should feel it too. Rest of my recurring payments will not get me cash back to pay the annual fee.

It’s Official - No more cashback for Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite

It’s official, Scotiabank has posted that they won’t give cashback for rent anymore. I literally just cancelled my wealthsimple credit card and got the scotiabank momentum visa infinite. What to do now?

Chexy support is absolutely horrible!

Sorry, but I need to rant a little.

I changed my rent payment from one card to another several days before the charge last month, but Chexy still charged the old card. I contacted support and they fixed it the same day, so I assumed the issue was actually fixed.

Nope. It happened again this month!!

I messaged support multiple times and got no response. I was worried that once the charge went through, they’d refuse to reverse it. Eventually I emailed the same support address from last month and got this response:

“Due to high volumes, reaching out to support cannot guarantee voids. Unfortunately, we are not able to reverse this charge at this time.”

Like… this isn’t even a void request. You charged the wrong card after I had already changed it days in advance.

I’ve been using Chexy since 2024, but their support has always been hit or miss. This time, I’m honestly pretty frustrated!

Is this why Scotia got rid of 4% for Chexy?

You can now use the gold card to avoid transaction fees on rent

Before we jump the gun on the Rogers Changes, is it only the RED Mastercard or ALL?

From what i've seen it's just the lowest tier. Unless there is something in the fine print where it says all mastercards are affected? I know this sounds like cope, because it is, but are we 100% sure?

Message to Chexy Team

Hi,

I know you all are trying to figure out the next path forward and would need some time to make some business decisions and we still have some time until October but I would really appreciate if Chexy Team can provide an update in near future on what the future will look like. I think after this ScotiaBank decision you will also revisit Chexy Plus subscription model because it no longer makes sense. Just a straight communication because we are a small group of users I believe around 250K and if Chexy provides a good option for its users then many of us will continue to stay.

When Financial Discipline Becomes a Bank’s Worst Nightmare 😂

Credit cards usually make their money when customers pay the minimum, carry a balance, and generously donate interest to the bank every month.

Then Chexy came along and sent Scotiabank a bunch of customers who were apparently financially responsible psychopaths. 😂

Chexy helped Scotia attract new credit-card customers, while many customers avoided the annual fee and even opened premium accounts. Some people apparently parked $6,000 just to save themselves a few bucks in fees. So Scotia was happily collecting deposits and enjoying all this lovely new customer traffic.

But then Scotia discovered the horrifying truth: these Chexy customers actually paid their credit cards in full every month.

No revolving balances.
No interest payments.
No “minimum payment” nonsense.
Just people paying their bills on time like some kind of financial extremists.

At that point Scotia probably looked at the numbers and said, “Wait a minute… these people are using our credit cards but they aren't paying us interest?! What kind of business model is this?

And just like that, the party was over. Scotia pulled the plug.

Chexy basically delivered an army of customers to the bank and accidentally delivered an army of people who refuse to make the bank rich.

Ladies and gentlemen, take a bow! We came, we spent, we paid in full. Chexy customers 1 - Scotiabank 0. 😂
