Cancelling Scotia Visa

If you're planning to cancel your Scotia Visa keep in mind the annual fee isn't refundable. So might as well hang on until the anniversary and still get 4% for everything else.

Frank (Detailing Dogma) the promoter

So this video just showed up. Interesting now that he's part of THOR, that 3 YUM products are now on his recommended list. I don't recall him mentioning YUM before. Also notice how his recommends aren't necessarily the winners of previous videos? So videos where actual testing (facts) was used. He also boldly states in the fine print that his videos aren't sponsored. So sure technically YUM didn't pay him directly but that doesn't mean his recommendations are unbiased and not financially motivated.

Bicycle helmet for large head

I have a large head and I haven't been able to find a bicycle helmet that will fit me. Even the ones that supposedly should be the right size (my head is 63cm) don't. I've learned it's because of the shape of Asian heads vs western. I'm Asian. I have a trip to Japan coming up in November and I'm hoping to finally find one that will fit. Which stores in Tokyo have the best (largest) selection for bicycle helmets?

Forced DSM upgrade?

I just bought a second hand 220+. It's running the latest DSM 7.4. However I don't want to update to that and lose hardware acceleration. I plan to migrate just by moving my drives. The drives currently are on 7.2.1. Am I going to be forced to update to 7.4? I know there are scripts to get around the hardware acceleration but I'd rather not have to do that in the first place.

Phat Neut - what's the point?

I've known about Phat Neut since the first Forensic Detailing video. It's now finally available at Carzilla but it's 50% more expensive than Touchless! Same for ONR. So what's the point?

It performs roughly the same as Touchless. But you can't replace ONR with it either since it has a very short shelf life once diluted. So you can't mix it up and put on the shelf to have ready as a detailer. The Dry On mode can't be used on lightly dirty surfaces. Plus you have to wait for it to dry.

Other than being PH neutral I don't see why I would pay more instead of just using Touchless and ONR. If at least it was the same price then I could use it to replace 2 chemicals. But 50% more expensive!

TD Insurance Payment Warning

Got my usual paperwork for my home and auto insurance renewal. Normally I only check to see if the premiums have gone up but this year I had to look closer because I was going to set up payments through Chexy.

I'm sure they've done this deliberately and hoping most people don't notice. I usually pay one lump sum annually because I don't want to pay extra installment fees. This year they've automatically set me up for monthly payments and presented the total premium on the front page without stating they included installment fees. It's only on the invoice page you'll see this broken down. Then there's no way to change away from monthly on the web portal. So you have to call in to get this changed.
