Rave Forest Cafe

I cannot get the idea of turning the Iconic Chicago Rainforest Cafe into a Music Venue called the Rave Forest. Keeping the mechanical operating animals and resurrecting the iconic frog from his sad abandoned place in a junk yard. 22,000 square feet of dance floor upon 2 levels. Looking for investors to help build my dream! Can anyone point me in the right direction and who can suggest a commercial real estate agent for a potential chat??

Buying tickets in person

I wanna start going to raves but literally every organizer I find on insta has all their ticket sales in their website and I cant buy tickets online, are there any good organizers that sell tickets in person for cash?

I accidentally bought a VIP Right instead of a VIP Left (where all my friends got tickets for) ticket for Skrillex at Festival Hall, Navy Pier. Do you think it will be chill and they will let me into the left side, or will they enforce and I need to stress about selling/exchanging?

Title. I really don't wanna have to stress about selling / buying it again or having to find someone to exchange a right for a left with. It seems like the perks are the same for both sides other than being on opposite sides. But idk, I've never been there before, do you think they will strictly enforce this? I also would hate to show up thinking it's fine then get fucked.

Edit: I called Navy Pier, the person said they were not too sure but from their experience, they think it might be fine? They also said while it varies by event whether the artist/touring company or if Navy Pier is running the ticketing but it should be Navy Pier for this one.

Next Weekend :)

Visiting with a friend aug 28-30. Scanned RA guide and didn’t know anyone playing.

Any recommendations for events with good music at cool venues that will also have people are appreciated!

Has anyone been to an EDM show at the Navy Pier Beer Garden?

I’m thinking about seeing Nora En Pure at the Navy Pier Beer Garden on August 30, but the venue seems like such an odd place for an EDM set.

Tickets are being sold online, and last I checked, resale was around $80 for GA and $150 for VIP. But the Beer Garden is pretty small and open, so it seems like you could just stand right outside of it, still be really close, and see/hear everything.

Has anyone been to an EDM show there before? How does it actually work? Is there any real benefit to buying a ticket versus just being nearby?

does anyone know what the stage setup will be like for the chicago shows at the united center? based on the maps online it looks like there are tickets for sale behind the stage.. wondering how accurate this setup is or if he will be doing a 360 stage

I only just learned what B2B is, and now seeing Skrillex on Saturday is Open to Close. Does that just mean he plays a really long set?

Sorry for the dumb question. Kinda new to going to edm shows.

Are there any shows or club sets happening that thursday? I went to Arc last year but this year my friends and I are only in chicago until Friday and would like to see what’s happening. As of rn we plan to head to spybar since it’s the only club we see open. Any suggestions are welcome ty

Have you been to Ela Nightclub in Chicago ? Is it like TAO?

I am evaluating options for Northcoast Afters. There is a Wuki show at Ela Nightclub on Friday night. I’m curious what others’ experiences are at this club.

TLDR: I avoid Tao; is Ela similar?

Context: I like Radius and Cermak Hall, Smoke & Mirrors, the Miramar in Milwaukee, Techno & Espresso events, Brownies n’ Lemonade events, and the wook / DnB rave and festival scene. Sound bar has been hit and miss for me - heavily dependent on who’s playing.

I value being able to get in and out of a restroom without wasting my night in long lines, being able to access complimentary water, and being able to access an outdoor smoking area (for my crew) when needed without having to leave the venue, and while experience enhancers are enjoyed I don’t drink alcohol. Oh, and security better see themselves as helpers and protectors, not ego inflated assholes.

I (female) usually dress like a candy raver, techno baddie, forest fairy, but not a club girl. Think doc martens, fishnets, a corset, and a flouncy miniskirt with a rave fan. I actually dance, and love to make my way around the room to rave mom those who need it, or to be the hottie that gets the nervous newcomers out to the dance floor.

I am often frustrated that I miss out on great DJs who get booked for Tao (about to ask for comparison here), because I really dislike the lack of PLUR, the money grab on beverage prices, the way you can’t take a break on a seat without buying a table, and little dancing there is because so many are just crammed into wall to wall people spilling overpriced drinks on each other. I’ve also been SA’d at Tao in the middle of the crowd multiple times. It would take a very special situation to get me to return there.

Here’s my concern: if I go based off what I see in socials, it looks like Ela might be a lot like Tao. And I am hosting a baby raver for Northcoast that I don’t want to take to Tao or a place like it.

So here’s the golden question: Given this background, will I regret going to Wuki at Ela? Or are the vibes better than Tao?

Also, those of us going from Northcoast or ARC straight to afters are going to be in festival attire with water packs - is this an issue at Ela? (In past, Polekatz hosted afters and security didnt know what to do about the water packs arriving and ended up juat having us show they were empty or check them with coat check.

Gimme a red light, yellow, or green light with your thoughts on Ela. And if there are clubs you DO recommend, please feel to share your positive experiences. Thank you!

Zhu was boring

Anybody else think that Zhu’s Navy Pier set was incredibly disappointing?

I’m usually in the camp of ‘if you think it’s boring then you’re boring’… but my god I felt like I was watching a YouTube set from 2018, and everyone was recording every second like COVID was about to start back up. UGH

I fuckin love Chicago

I will never take for granted living in a city where DJs actually give a fuck and care about delivering everytime they touch the decks. S/o Ranger Trucco, Zhu, and I’m sorry I didn’t recognize the 3rd guy (truly no disrespect) for pulling up on Joshwa’s set. That was absolutely 🔥🔥🔥 for an impromptu b2b

Who’s going to ISOXO in Chicago

Hey 19m I’m really trying to go to isoxo, but I don’t have anyone to go with, I’m still pretty new to EDM. I’ve gotten into it more in 2022 when my brother took me to my first rave. Whoever is down to hang out at iso lmk!!

Show Recs Next few months

Tired of terrible crowds at shows lately: talking, shoving, immature, disrespectful. Feels like it’s always worse at bigger-name shows. Curious what smaller/lesser-known artist shows people are hitting in the next few weeks, as I’m hoping for a better crowd. Any recs? I typically love Smoke N Mirrors, and Radius / Spybar is my home.

[Hard Techno / Deep House] Hard, Fast, & Pounding Techno Mix from the Backroom of a Chicago Apartment (31 minute mix)

Hoping to get some feedback on my 2nd ever recorded mix. First time spinning techno. Been practicing DJing on and off since the last time I recorded a mix almost a year ago. Busy life shit plus self-doubt got in the way of me being consistent but now I'm back at it.

I feel like I definitely messed up around the 15:40 when trying to loop a bar to build into the drop for the next song. I think it ended up alright but not as smooth as I would've liked. Also the low when blending at 20:45 was supposed to last a couple of phrases but I dropped the ball on that. Would've did another take but I organically discovered a fantastic blend at 25:27 and said fuck it, I don't need to be a perfectionist at this stage.

Anyway, constructive criticism and constructive compliments are welcome!
