Anxious about procedure.

Hey all, 23F here getting chin lipo + J plasma in exactly a day from now.

It’s going to be under regional (?) anesthesia, which means I’ll be awake the whole time with a mild sedative to reduce anxiousness.

I’m really nervous, especially since no one is accompanying me during the surgery and pre + post surgery from my family as they’re all busy, and I’m not sure how to calm my nerves.

I’m mostly afraid of the pain, and having something go wrong. I’m also very anxious by nature, and I often dislike hearing sounds during any type of procedure I rather have my hearing “blacked out”.

Any suggestions and advice would be beneficial.

No results

Hi everyone, I had liposuction on my double chin 13 days ago, and I’m disappointed with the result. I know there is *some* visible difference, but I had expected better. There’s a small, hard lump right under my chin; will that go away? It feels like the swelling has mostly gone down and it’s just fibrosis now. Will it improve further? I have a feeling not much is going to change at this point. By the way, I also had the lipo-laser procedure.

Why does chin lipo look so violent? 😬

I saw a video of a doctor performing chin lipo on social media the other day. I’ve read about people’s experiences. But I was not prepared for how violent it looked.

I know they have to break up and suck up fat, but it seems so forceful that it’s hard to believe they are using any technique.

It just seems like they are shoving the cannula in recklessly without regard to the parts of your neck they shouldn’t touch.

Like, what about your lymph nodes or glands or throat? Or is this the equivalent of men thinking they will hit the baby while having sex with a pregnant woman? 😂😂😂 Somebody please talk me out of wanting to cancel my appointment

I did it!!

I was so nervous to have my chin done but it's something I've wanted for a long time and I finally bit the bullet. One day post op and it's been much smoother than I thought. I'd read about difficult recoveries and worked myself up but so far so good and I can't wait to see the results! Proud of myself for doing something for me. My chin was causing me to dislike otherwise beautiful pictures of myself with my daughter and I didn't want to focus on my chin instead of my little girl. I wanted to be confident and in the moment and not so fixated on my looks. Here's hoping for a smooth rest of recovery!

Beware of bots on this sub…

I’ve been active on this sub for a few months now leading up to / post my chin lipo. Recently, though, I’ve noticed a super annoying pattern in comments.

https://i.imgur.com/6m5EtKP.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/ODNO4TW.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/wL4sa3Z.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/JIvFSOE.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/CEIWmN7.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/w79nwth.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/dLzatcZ.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/Rc27BTX.jpeg

Bots are taking people’s comments, rewording them pretty much sentence by sentence, and then posting all over this sub. I’m sure some of these users in the screenshots may be legit people, but if you look at many of the others, the profiles were only just create 1-2 weeks ago (often 10 days, I find, if I happen to see the bot comment the day it’s posted).

I also caught this one post completing copying a post from a real person earlier today: https://reddit.com/r/chinlipo/comments/1un3vz0/regret_my_chin_lipo/

It’s so egregious and so disingenuous. Be on the lookout for comments like these on your posts.

EDIT: Another copycat post from Miadreamstate… smh. DOWNVOTE AND REPORT THESE POSTS https://reddit.com/r/chinlipo/comments/1unx783/why_does_chin_lipo_look_so_violent/

Also for comments, seems like the MO is a lack of punctuation…

Am I a good candidate for chin/neck lipo + chin implant?

Hey! I'm 31 and have hated my side profile for as long as I can remember. I'm not overweight (but based on these photos of my neck you may think so). I've been underweight in the past, and still had this insecurity. I'm a healthy weight now and workout 5x a week. So I've consulted with two different U.S. surgeons in the southeast, and both of them agree a chin implant and chin/neck lipo is the best course of action for me. I was curious about a neck lift, but both surgeons said I am young enough with good skin and that might be too extreme and expensive as of now. I was relieved to hear that of course, but I am worried that the fat is under the muscle, and this will be a waste. I clearly have a lot of fat I can pinch so idk? I have weak chin projection and either a ton of fat around my jaw, or just very weak bone structure there. I'm also fully aware I'd benefit from a rhinoplasty, so please be kind. I'm waiting to see how this plan works and then reassessing my nose. It's hard to be vulnerable but let me know your thoughts! Thank you ♥️

Post op suggestions

Hello lovelies, I am in my 2nd week after surgery.Dr told me to do lymphatic massage. It’s really really painful to do.Kindly suggest the methods you all are doing plus suggest a good compression garments to have full benefits of liposuction. I have tried many but not satisfied. Thanks in advance.

Regret my chin lipo

I'm super depressed about my chin lipo. I realized that I didn't need it. This procedure has aged me. I'm scared of what my future face will look like. I don't want a facelift or neck lift.

So happy I did it

I’m 10 days post opp. I’m 41f. I did awake chin lipo at goals in ATL. I’m so thrilled. Even 10 days out. I’m doing 24-7 compression with a maxi pad as a lipo foam under my chin. Arnica tabs. Pineapple juice. Lots of water. Ladies if you want to do it. I wish I had done it sooner.

Thoughts?

9 weeks post op. My surgeon wants to go in a break up the tissue. Thoughts? Anyone had that done with fibrosis?

Feeling apprehensive reading these posts

I already have my procedure scheduled and I am 3k in the hole so far 😭 I keep getting notifications about regret. I have had a lot of non cosmetic surgery so Im pretty desensitized to the OR and it's not like I am scared about the process.. but I have a thick neck. A BMI of 35. Poor self esteem lol. Is regret really this common?

will chin lipo create definition?

Just curious if I am a good candidate for chin lipo. I have always been insecure of my chin/jawline. As I age, my neck and jawline become more and more like one continuous plane. Also not sure if my chin is considered recessed or not. I am 40 years old.

Open to suggestions. I’d like to know what to ask about during a consult.

Post-op recovery

So, I'm 1 day post-op and this thread have been very helpful, so thanks for everyone for sharing!

I'm fairly young (29) and very very active most of the time- I work out 5-6 times a week (pole, gym and yoga) and my work in the lab is also has me moving around a lot. Very hyper in general and I think I'll go insane just resting for 5 days.

Did some of you deal with this?

Also I want to meet up with people next weekend and wondered how noticeable the chim area will be?

I really avoided telling most people about the procedure, knowing they would discourage me and I did not want to explain my decisions lol

I did it!!!

It’s done!! 🥹 Had my surgery today and I’m so relieved it’s finally over. I was really nervous about the general anesthesia, but it went great. Now the healing begins! 💗

Chin lipo with chin filler?

Hey all, 23F here!

I’ve had 2 ml of chin filler, one ml in my actual chin and the ml other to seamlessly blend it into the rest of my face.

I’m doing chin lipo + J plasma combo in 5 days, I’ve dissolved my jawline filler already. I was told by my doctor there’s no need to dissolve it, but it’s up to me.

I’m kind of wishing I did, but has anyone had chin filler while undergoing chin lipo? How was it like? Did it mess with the results?

Chin Lipo Experience

Reading about everyone else’s experiences before going into my procedure was really helpful, so I wanted to share about mine and how the first 3 days post-op have gone!

Cost: $5000 for chin/jawline & renuvion skin tightening, local anesthesia only

Surgeon: Dr. Kyle Kimura w/ Ascentist Plastic Surgery in Kansas City

I am one of those people that has EXTREME anxiety about medical procedures, and a ridiculously low pain threshold lol, and I was very nervous about this. I legit nearly backed out on the day of because I was so scared, and came close to crying a couple times during the procedure - not from pain but just from being generally freaked out lol.

Dr. Kimura and his nurse Bailee are WONDERFUL; very warm and calming and they explained everything very thoroughly beforehand and also talked me through each step during the procedure. Bailee has also checked in on me via their text line every day afterwards to see how I’m doing!

LOCAL ANESTHESIA: The shots for the local anesthesia (one behind each ear and one under my chin) were not very painful. I’ve had a ton of dental work done and these shots were nowhere near as bad as getting shots of Novocain. So if you can handle getting Novocain before a filling, these shots are a breeze. More like a sharp pinch than anything and over very quickly.

PROCEDURE: The procedure itself was extremely unpleasant to be awake for and there was a lot of pressure/discomfort where it felt like my skin was being pulled/stretched and it was really unnerving. Dr. Kimura paused multiple times to check on me and ask if I was in any pain, and truthfully I was not experiencing pain, I was just really freaked out haha. He offered several times to take a break, which I really appreciated, but I just wanted to get through it so I didn’t take him up on it

The Renuvion was an extra level of weird because it’s basically pushing heat through under your skin so I could smell a slight burning smell, but again, no worse than the weird smell when they’re drilling off part of your tooth at the dentist 🤷🏼‍♀️

It felt like it took FOREVER and I was extremely anxious the whole time. I chose local anesthesia partially because it brought down the cost and partially because the only other time I’ve been put under I had a very unpleasant reaction to it (very nauseated and disoriented afterwards, puking, etc.) During the lipo I was wishing I’d opted to be put under haha. But now that I’m through it I’m glad I just went with the local.

A couple things I wish I had done differently: when I had my pre-op appointment Dr. Kimura said he could give me a Xanax type sedative to help with the anxiety, but when I arrived for my procedure Bailee said it wasn’t listed in my paperwork, and I didn’t push for it. Not anyone’s fault there but mine - it was probably just a small miss on the paperwork but I should have advocated better for myself in the moment because I definitely think it would have helped take the edge off 😬

Also, I had brought my AirPods and was planning to listen to a podcast episode I’d been saving in order to distract myself. This is my usual strategy when getting a filling lol. But they offered to play music and let me pick what I wanted to listen to, and I didn’t know if maybe the AirPods would get in the way, so again I didn’t bring it up.

In retrospect I think the AirPods would have been just fine; Dr. Kimura did need to give a few instructions about turning my head etc., but I think we could have worked around that, so I wish I’d had the podcast to distract me because the music definitely wasn’t cutting it 😂 Again, I should have spoken up in the moment but I was so riddled with anxiety that I wasn’t as assertive as usual lol

RECOVERY: My procedure was first thing in the morning, and by the time I got home and the local anesthetic was wearing off I was in quite a bit of pain, but not terrible. To continue the dental work comparison it was worse than the pain I usually have after getting a bunch of fillings, but not MUCH worse. If childbirth or a kidney stone is a 10, pain was maybe at a 5-6 at most?

Not super fun though so I was VERY glad he had called in real pain meds because Tylenol was not helping much. When my husband picked up my prescription and I took some, the combination of that and the nap I took afterward had me feeling much better.

I would say day 2 and 3 I really haven’t been in pain per se - just swollen/tender and a bit uncomfortable. I’ve been sleeping just fine at night thanks to the drugs lol. I took this week off work and am VERY glad I did. I have friends who bounce back from stuff really quick, like they’re taking their kids to the zoo two weeks after giving birth type of thing, but I know I’m not one of those people lol.

The compression wrap around my head makes it difficult to talk clearly so even if I was working remotely it’d be difficult to be on calls (and definitely would not want to be on camera lol). My instructions for the wrap are to wear it 24/7 for the first week and then at night for another week or two.

The wrap is not terribly uncomfortable, and when it starts to hurt I just know it’s time to take some pain meds. I loosen it quite a bit for when I’m trying to eat.

I wish I would have realized chewing was not going to be a thing for a few days because I didn’t buy any appropriate groceries lol. My husband went out and got yogurt and jello and some soups for me! It’s much easier today than it was yesterday, and yesterday was easier than day 1, so I’m hoping I’ll work up to actual chewing in the next couple days - I miss food 😂

(ETA: Eating is difficult just because the procedure affected a lot of the muscles I use to chew, so that movement is difficult/uncomfortable. However some people mentioned feeling like they had a sore throat, and thankfully I have not experienced that. My throat feels just fine and I have no trouble or pain when swallowing, which was something I was worried about beforehand because having a sore throat is miserable!!)

I haven’t taken the wrap off yet to take a peek, but Dr. Kimura and Bailee said it was looking great when the procedure was finishing up. That first day when the pain was starting to kick in and I didn’t have the good pain meds yet I was like “this was an extremely stupid idea, why am I putting myself through this just for vanity?!” but I’m feeling much more optimistic now 😂😂

I’m 40 years old, female, and 135lbs at 5’-6”, after being very underweight for my whole life up until I had kids. My double chin was making me so self-conscious and I found myself avoiding being in photos with my kids, and I decided I didn’t want to live like that. But it’s very much genetic and not due to being overweight. I eat a balanced diet and am active (working out, lifting weights), so I think the surgery was really the only sustainable fix.

I will post updates with photos in the future since again those were very helpful for me! Thank you to everyone here for sharing your experiences!!

Chin lipo with j plasma?

Hey all, 23F here!

Diagnosed with PCO 3 years ago, I’ve lost drastic weight since, however, hormonally and genetically, my face, especially jaw and chin store so much fat.
First place to gain weight and last place to lose weight.

My doctor explained to me that he’s going to liposuction any fat in that area, and also use J-Plasma to tighten the area and define it. I’m excited yet very nervous, I’ve seen results of chin lipo with J-plasma, they look like a dream.

But I was wondering if anyone has done J-Plasma with their chin lipo? If yes, how was your experience like?
