Ice Queen ROs
Literally, mostly just that. Angst would be great...Any suggestions? Oh, and jealousy would be appreciated, but its not *completely* necessary, of course-
Thank you.
(Ps, it can be any interactive fiction type, doesn't have to be CoG)

While this game isn’t in my usual genre, I was immediately drawn in by the noir vibes, my grim but honorable private detective MC, and the 1920s setting. Prohibition era Seattle, with its fog and rain and speakeasies and social and political tensions, was an excellent backdrop to a story revolving around lies and corruption and institutional hypocrisy. Dialogue is snappy, the prose has a nice rhythm to it, and even the stats screen has personality. But the game doesn’t commit enough to the setting or to the overall narrative. It follows too many mini plotlines at the expense of character development and a strong central narrative; supernatural elements felt undeveloped and sometimes out of place; and blatant historical deviations distracted from the otherwise compelling setting. It may not be for me, but I think it will be quite enjoyable for players who appreciate the noir genre, enjoy a bit of quirk in their stories, and don’t mind a modern coating to historical settings.
+ Compelling setting: what’s not to love about prohibition era Seattle? There’s so much to play with here: there’s grit, atmosphere, political and social tensions, as well as speakeasies and flappers and fedoras and plenty of moonshine.
+ Writing style: it’s got a rhythm to it that suits the genre, and just enough quirk to keep it interesting without going too overboard. I don’t have too many complaints here.
+ Snappy dialogue: the witty banter with grim undertones felt authentic to the genre and may just be the best aspect of the game.
+ MC has real personality and presence: for the most part I really felt like a noir detective. My MC was gritty, smart, street-savvy, and knew how to get people to talk, and I had a lot of fun in the moments where my MC went full Sherlock Holmes with his spot-on deductions.
+ Replayability: I personally did not enjoy the game enough to replay it, but I got the impression that there was a ton more content to explore were I so inclined.
+ Unique stats screen with personality: it’s set up like a personal dossier on the MC written by your mentor. This was a nice touch, even if sometimes the screen didn’t update at the same pace as the game (early game it mentions things you don’t know yet, and late game it makes it sound like you’re still working on things you’ve already solved). It also includes familiar stat bars for quick reference if you don’t want to always scan the text. It would have been nice, though, to be able to select a version of the stats screen (either just text, just numbers, or combined).
- The game undermines its own setting: the biggest draw for many players is going to be the noir, 1927 Seattle setting, and the game was fun when it leaned into this with the jazz clubs and the gangsters and corrupt cops and so forth. But there were many instances where, for example, modern ideas and discourse invaded the story so blatantly it completely broke the spell. A huge part of the appeal of historical settings is their ability to transport you somewhere totally foreign, but you’re just not going to get that in this game. Foreign aesthetics, sure. Foreign culture, nope.
- MC did some frustrating things without permission: I mostly liked how the MC was written, but there were moments that I was kind of surprised by what the game decided for me. For example, I didn’t like that my MC’s opinion on the union movement was chosen for me, especially when the topic was very contentious at the time (or so I understand) and also a pretty big plotline in the story. There was a missed opportunity here to explore some more nuance. There were also a couple mysteries that were incredibly obvious to me as a player and yet somehow my Sherlock-style detective couldn’t put the super obvious pieces together until things were proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.
- Too many disconnected side plots: at the start of the game you’re given a few different cases to work, along with a couple other side mysteries, and you have to decide which to prioritize. This adds some stakes to the choices and increases replayability, but it also resulted in a game that didn’t have the strongest unifying thread or sense of direction. At the start, I was overwhelmed by how many different cases I was supposed to juggle, and easily lost track of what was happening in each, and I didn’t feel very connected to the story as a whole. The wizard plotline was especially strange, it just felt so weird to be forced to chase down this random wizard terrorizing Seattle, especially when we’re told that there’s some kind of wizarding association that should be doing that instead. I actually really liked the wizard on his own, but he felt very out of place and a bit of a distraction in the present story.
- Couldn’t connect with the characters: partly because the story itself is so scattered, interactions with the characters are a little all over the place as well, with them vanishing from the story frequently.
- Romance is not very fleshed out: Berenice was my chosen RO and I flirted with her a couple times, fairly subtly, and then all the sudden she was being all dramatic about how “it could never work” and next thing you know we’re like in love or something and I honestly don’t even know how it really happened and frankly I almost don’t even care because as a player I had pretty much no feelings for her. The other ROs were even less intriguing to me.
- Repetitive stat checks: both the wording and mechanics of choices got old fairly quickly, many of them sounding quite similar (e.g., there were many different instances of something like, “Do you punch the guy, impress everyone with your deductions, or talk your way out of it?”).
- Lore isn’t very fleshed out: the magic in the game felt very out of place to me, which was a bummer because I was looking forward to this twist on the detective story. For example, at the start of the game we’re told that there’s a prejudice against wizards, but I didn’t see this theme played out much in the rest of the game despite the MC being a wizard. Then when we’re introduced to other kinds of supernatural entities, they seem to come out of nowhere, and we’re expected to make decisions regarding them without knowing anything about them. It felt like maybe some of these supernatural elements were added just to make the game unique and quirky rather than to serve the story. Maybe I would have had a different experience if I had played a more magic-focused MC, or chose different story branches to focus on, but as is I was just not sold on the magic system.
Offers end 22 May.Any opinions about those games?🤔
I only played 180files'demo, it's alright, not surprisingly good and not a disappointment. Also, there are some reviews aboutwizard confidential .
P.S.I pixelate the price to protect privacy, sorry for the inconvenience🙇
It's the newest release from CoG by Anthony Eichenlaub. It just feels like this one is getting slept on as I haven't seen much enthusiasm about it in the forum nor here on the subreddit.
Personally, I found the premise of being a wizard in the prohibition era quite cool and charming. I was hooked just from reading the demo and I really liked the whole vibe of it. I know it just came out so it's possible not many have had the chance to play it yet, but for those who did... what did you think about it?
Any personal fave romance options for y'all? Or if they all feel on the same level of quality since it seems early on Paragon has some funky interactions with you and your powers.
And Chameleon is one I take it?

Was playing werewolves evolution 3 again and was curious about the onyx romance. I went with all of Sonoma’s stuff and had a conversation with him, but never brought up doing anything with him. Did I do something wrong?
Anyone here play Dress to Impress? I made M!Seven from and I think I’m too obsessed with Seven 😔.
Isekai WIP recs? I read the period drama villainess yesterday and it was really good (even though i don't love jane austen's works , it was enjoyable to play) , it's the only isekai if i've seen though ( Pic from the greatest estate developer)
The "UNLIMITED POWAHHH" of this really made my day.
Just discovered this book and have become obsessed. So far I've played as a Bone Gnawer theurge and a Children of Gaia Philodox.
How do I get these achievements?
Dream of the '90s: Accidentally make swing dancing come back again even if you don't want to
Eat the Tiger: Unmake the Answering Tiger at Vermont Yankee.
Orderly Exit: Get everyone out of Hog Throne before it burns down.
Forest Guardian: Drive Huvud Development from the sacred forest
To Be Kind: Rescue a werewolf from the lies of the Answering Tiger.
Breaking Glass: Destroy a werewolf who's fallen to the Answering Tiger.
Umbranaut: Rescue a fellow werewolf from an Umbral prison.
Dr. Van de Wolf, M.D.: Keep casualties below ten during the Jigsaw Plague.
I'm assuming 5&6 are about Daphne?
As the title says, I'm wanting to know which gifts have the most reactivity throughout the story. What I mean by reactivity is allowing you to enter new areas, giving unique dialogue options, giving new encounters, stuff like that. I don't really care about gifts that simply give you a higher stat or make combat easier.
hi! im new here :) i would like some good recs! im not picky, but i do like slow burn romance and interesting, badass mcs!
edit: thank u everyone for the recs! :)
the vtm based games are great. I was wonder if any more vtm focused CoG games are planned?
I just finished Mask of the Plague Doctor, which I had purchased years ago and never got around to read. Amazing game, 10/10, would play again. One of the things I liked the most is that my character got to be a self-serving bastard who looked out for themselves and got away with everything (not giving details because I don't want to spoil, IYKYK). Are there any more games like that? The only other example that comes to mind which I already read is the Creme de la Creme series
I would appreciate it if it's not all about being a superhero i think the concept is really cool that only a few people knows that superhumans exist and they act like normal civilians or something like that i wanna experience being a superhuman in a world where majority of people believe they don't exist and get to meet other super humans and fight them
Was one of my favourites, but since dashingdon disappeared I have no way of replaying. Does anyone know how or if it’s even possible to get access to it? I’m pretty sure even the discussion of the game on the Choice of Games website is closed too.
For context I've only played/read one of these before and I might get some terminology wrong. I am sorry in advance and hope people will still be willing to help.
I just Played Cantata all the way up to chapter 5. I believe this is the most recent chapter.
It was an absolutely amazing game and I wish there was more. Especially the romance. I happen to be a Master fan of romance and I really think it can elevate storytelling.
For Cantata I have been playing the Calliope route and it's this very wholesome start to a romance during the middle of lots of tragedies.
The romance does not have to be identical but something similar would be nice.
I will mention I am a straight guy so that would be the type of romance I am into. If it has others that's fine as long as what I am looking for is an option. (Really hope that wasn't offensive.)
If anyone has suggestions that would be helpful.
I am a huge Medieval Fantasy, High Fantasy, and Fantasy fan.
