2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit broke down at 1,205 miles — cylinder #2 misfire, cracked spark plug porcelain, looking for advice

I wanted to post my experience here to see if anyone else with the new 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit platform has dealt with something similar, and also to get advice from techs, advisors, or owners familiar with Stellantis warranty/corporate escalation.

I purchased this vehicle brand new in April 2026 from Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Concord. This was a huge purchase for my family and was intended to be our long-term family SUV.

At only 1,205 miles, while traveling through Savannah, GA with my wife and 7-month-old son, the vehicle suddenly developed a flashing check engine light immediately after stopping for food. The engine started idling rough, shaking, and clearly misfiring.

I stopped at Advance Auto Parts and scanned the vehicle. The PCM was throwing a cylinder #2 misfire code (P0302).

The vehicle ended up being towed to Vaden Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM where it is currently sitting.

Here’s what I’ve been told so far by the dealership/service department:

• Technician confirmed cylinder #2 misfire
• Dealer stated the spark plug in cylinder #2 has cracked porcelain
• Dealer advised that the engine needs new spark plugs
• However, they stated Stellantis approval is required before moving forward with repairs/replacement of parts
• Vehicle is currently waiting on authorization/process approval

What concerns me is this:

How does a brand new engine with barely over 1,200 miles end up with a cracked spark plug porcelain insulator and a hard cylinder misfire severe enough to trigger a flashing CEL?

A flashing check engine light generally indicates an active misfire serious enough to potentially damage the catalytic converters, so this wasn’t some minor warning light situation.

I’m also trying to understand:
• Was the spark plug defective from factory?
• Was it improperly torqued during assembly?
• Is there a deeper ignition or combustion issue?
• Could detonation/pre-ignition have damaged the plug?
• Is this isolated, or are others seeing similar problems on the Hurricane platform?

At this point, my confidence in the vehicle is honestly shaken. This isn’t a cosmetic issue or infotainment bug — this was a drivability failure that stranded my family on a trip.

I opened a Stellantis customer care case immediately and have been attempting to escalate communication, but progress has been slow.

I’m currently considering:
• Replacement vehicle request
• Goodwill buyback/repurchase review
• Extended warranty coverage if I keep the vehicle
• Further inspection to ensure no internal engine damage occurred from the misfire event

I’m not posting this to bash Jeep. I actually loved the vehicle before this happened. The ride quality, comfort, and features were excellent.

But a brand new SUV experiencing a major engine-related issue at 1,205 miles is hard to ignore.

Has anyone else experienced:
• P0302 misfires on a new Grand Cherokee?
• Cracked spark plug porcelain on these engines?
• Early Hurricane engine ignition issues?
• Stellantis corporate buyback/replacement situations?

Would appreciate honest feedback from owners, technicians, or anyone familiar with these drivetrains.

What is the 6th button for?(chrysler 200)

Title sums it up, what is the blank button for? Just curious since I haven’t been able to find an answer online, every image I’ve seen of this style of key fob is missing a button

Cel p06de

2014 town and country

Had code come up for oil pressure sensor. After about 2 days with cel light on. Now it won’t go past 30mph or seem to shift past 2nd gear. Is that limp mode?? Replaced the sensor and still won’t go past 30mph. Anyone else have this issue?

My wishlist for Stellantis Investors Day (May 21)

Here are the things I'm hoping to see Chrysler announce for May 21;

  • It's recently been unveiled to dealerships that a compact and affordable Chrysler model is being considered. While the Pronto name suggests it could possibly be a PT Cruiser successor, my hope is that Chrysler makes a compact sedan too. If a compact sedan comes back, my hope is that it will be called the Neon.
  • feel like it would make perfect sense if Chrysler make a successor to the Dodge Journey and 2000s Pacifica Crossover. An affordable 3 row crossover is something that really is missing from the automotive market in general, especially in USA. I'm not sure if this is what the new Chrysler C6X crossover will be, but it would make perfect sense to have a 3 row option. Now that the Voyager nameplate is free, it would make sense for Chrysler to use it for this purpose.
  • Likely Chrysler will announce a Halcyon concept inspired successor to the Chrysler 300. For a nameplate, I feel like Concorde or Intrepid would make sense. It would be perfect for a family car successor to the 300.
  • An offroad minivan does sound like a weird idea, but I feel like it has potential. A Minivan with offroad capability would make the Pacifica more of a capable SUV competitor. It could make a minivan with BOF-like capability without cannibalizing the other Stellantis vehicles (such as the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer/ upcoming Ramcharger). Not to mention that it would still be a minivan, making it easier for a parking lot than a Chevrolet Tahoe, but with the capability under the hood.

Grey Zone:

  • A midsize sedan (Sebring/200 successor) is something I'd be skeptical about. If they were to make a compact, midsize, and full size sedan simultaenously it would be too much competition. I'd say either go compact and full size, or midsize and full size sedans with a compact Pronto hatchback/crossover.
  • A convertible model for a midsize or compact sedan (like a 200 cabrio successor) would be a bit unsuitable for the brand. That's something that Dodge will probably make, and where it would make more sense.

What I'm not expecting;

  • A Chrysler Body-on-frame SUV because it would create tension with the Jeep Wrangler and Grand Wagoneer, along with the upcoming Ramcharger SUV.
  • A Grand Cherokee and Durango competitor likely won't happen either because it would cause cannibalization with the latter. The Offroad Pacifica would make more sense for that position.
  • A Crossfire successor is a no. Sports cars should stay exclusive to Dodge.

P.S. I believe Chrysler would be good with a small but simple lineup for its vehicles. I believe Chrysler should follow a 2-2-1 model, where they have 2 sedans, 2 crossovers, and 1 minivan.

2016 Chrysler 200 Electrical Issue

My 2016 Chrysler 200 battery was dead when I went to crank it this past Monday. Jumped it off with no problems and took it to my local repair shop. I noticed the check engine light on along the way. The battery is less than a year and a half old. One of the check engine codes returned "throttle position sensor" circuit low voltage while another returned "throttle position sensor" circuit high voltage. A few other codes were for low voltage to certain modules. The battery voltage on three different tests was 11.6V, 12.09v, and 12.15v. One charging test said the alternator had excessive ripples but two other tests were ok. One of the tests said the battery was good but needed a recharge.

I don't really know how to interpret the data above and neither, apparently, do the mechanics. I'm unsure about whether the battery and/or alternator are good or not, and I hate to replace either without knowing. I bought the battery from them, and they are willing to honor the warranty but not until the battery is conclusively determined to be the problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

Chrysler 300s codes

I recently bought this Chrysler 300s with 150k
But there’s some codes on it which I kinda don’t understand how to fix. And one more little problem it chokes when I give it gas when turning, just a stutter when pressing the gas. P

Ever since I got my license, I’ve had a Chrysler 200 2012 LX I’ve been looking at different Chrysler’s. I seen that 300s or the C. Just wanna make sure that it would be a good car & able to have fun with as well.

Hello, i’ve been looking into buying a car. recently a chrysler has caught my eye. i have no experience with the vehicle and my brother in law doesn’t know much about them.

right now my average mechanic stop is $700-$2000 for little things like replacing hoses because everything is hard to get to and they have to take apart the car (2014 Buick Lacrosse). Google told me Chryslers can be difficult to work on depending on age and model, how’s a 2015 looking labor wise? i learned to do as much as i could for my previous vehicle so im hoping i can do that with my next vehicle.

Google also told me they’re relatively reliable in the winter. i live in alaska so i need something safe, anyone else live in snowier conditions and do you agree they’re good for winter driving?
