Just bought this beauty a couple of weeks ago

5 years ago, it was renovated for rust, and repainted. It has been standing in a garage since, and in the 14 years the previous owner had it, he only drove 1000km. In 2 weeks I have almost driven the same.

It has some small damages in the paint here and there I am gonna fix, other than that the body seems as new.

Earlier today I bought some new things for it:

  1. Disc brake conversion kit.

  2. New barrel locks, as I have 3 different keys that can open the locks

  3. Central locking kit

  4. Keyless entry + alarm

  5. Servo kit for the brakes

  6. New indicator stalk. As I see smoke when turning on high beams

  7. Wiper stalk

  8. Petrol tank sender unit + seals. As of now, the tank is always half full

  9. Soundproofing kit

  10. New carpets

  11. Heater valve + cable

  12. Haynes manual

The engine have not been renovated, but only driven around 40000km. Odometer stopped working at 39999.9km, so I need that fixed as well.

Hoping the soundproofing kit and soundproofing carpets make a difference, cuz damn the car is noisy. Love it anyways.

It seems when I drive in rainy weather in the highway, water comes in through the speedometer :( how do I fix that? Also, there are weld seams in the trunk where water tends to collect, does anybody have an idea where the water comes from, because it seems the weld seams does not have any drain hole, so best solution would be to make sure water cant get in? Pretty sure this weld seam is one of those seams the car is born with.

Wondering how other Mini owners reaction is to me saying I am gonna drive it in the winter? Any recommendations to prepare for winter? I am in Denmark, so I'll be driving it in snow and road salt.

Probably have a 1000 other question, but cant think of any more right now.

This is the only picture I have of the car right now, but I did get all the pictures of the renovation process from previous owner.

Hope you like it :)

‘63 MK1 finally on the road

Been a slow build but finally got my February 1963 MK1 Morris Mini 850 patina build back on the road. Was laid up on a farm in 1971 and I rescued it back in 2020. 55 years after it last drove I took it to my car clubs local show. Still running the original engine and gearbox but everything else mechanically is new and all new panels underneath from the firewall to the boot hinge panel, sills etc etc. and custom interior.

Let me introduce my 1971 Leyland mini850… first.. asked too many questions already;;;

May seem silly but what is this?

New to owning a classic mini. Switch with 'P' written on it. Cannot work out what it operates.

Well. Nothing like attending a cars and coffee and a 2 million dollar McLaren Senna GTR turns around and bumps the side of your classic mini with his front splitter. Just a piece of chrome got bent in my mini, but he said his cracked splitter is between 60k and 90k. Holy shit!

Is this diagram right for 1971 Leyland 850 mini?!

At the moment, my mini has no 1 and no 2 plugs swapped;;; that’s how it was when I bought off..
Is this diagram right? Or what I have is right?!? 🫣🫣🫣

How did you modernize your MPI?

I have a 1997 Rover MPI. Very well looked after, all original under the hood as far as I can tell. Which means I’m inevitably gonna to get into problems…

Today it decided to not start. It was fine every other day until today. Head scratcher. The starter was cranking but would not fire up.

Figured fuel pump is shot or some other electrical issue, very random.

So I do some investigating and then tried it again an hour later and it started beautifully.

The difference? The temperature - it was hot before, but now it’s cooler. Hot, no start… cool now, starts fine.

So, there’s a gremlin to figure out, but I wonder: What have folks done to modernize their MPI’s to avoid such randomness and give some stability?

What should I start replacing? 🫣

South African Minis

A little over 100.000 have ben build -yes, rather more than assembled- in South-Africa. Over time there started to excist some changes, with the most notable diversion: the 1275GTS, the car tat replaced the Cooper.
I researched this as best as possible and the accumulation of all this ended up in a lengthy article, whic you will find thru the link. Enoy reading.

Power windows for a 1998

Does anyone know of a good solution for power windows for a 1998 mini? I’ve seen kits on minispares but for pre97 minis without the side impact bar. I’ve seen the universal kits too with the plastic gear wheel but they all seem to have bad reviews of the motor burning out or plastic shredding. Here are the details of my skills, none. I can’t weld and I have basic knowledge and mechanical ability. I can’t change oil, brakes, belts, and other routine maintenance type of things but I cannot rip apart a motor or do any sort of body work.

Indicators not working when lights are on?!

Hey guys, bit of a weird one I have a 1980 Leyland mini and my passenger side indicators aren’t blinking when the lights are on when the lights are off both drivers and passengers indicators work perfectly. Also when the lights are on the rear passenger indicator light is continuously on. Tried swapping the bulbs but same thing happens. Recently replaced the fuses and had the headlight switch out, wondering if it could be this? was about to buy another switch but thought I’d check to see if anyone has any tips or tricks. Cheers

My warehouse mini

Finally blew the dust off my mini for springtime. I love this thing. Sometimes I don’t get around to driving it for months at a time and it always fires up.
