Why a J6 rioter is seeking $30M from Trump fund: NewsNight reacts

>The Justice Department on Monday announced the creation of a $1.776 billion fund to compensate President Donald Trump’s allies who claim they were unfairly targeted by the previous administration.

>It’s an unprecedented move that would allow the president’s administration to pay his supporters from a government agency he controls with taxpayer money.

>CNN interviewed two pardoned J6 rioters who are excited about the prospect of a payout. Plus, a CNN NewsNight Panel debates the merits of the fund.

What do you guys think of Pamela brown? I thought she did terrible in this interview with Byron Donald’s

https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/dont-come-in-with-a-leading-question-byron-donalds-throws-down-with-cnns-pamela-brown-over-trumps-anti-weaponization-fund/

Pamela brown tried questioning Byron Donald’s about the slush fund for j6 rioters. Byron just completely talked over her complaining that j6 rioters were being overcharged without any pushback and Donald’s accused her of trying to make it political and give leading questions.

Brown should have asked him how can he and Trump still say they back the blue and support police when they give money to people who attack cops. Or just simply that giving money to cop beaters is absurd.
Brown seems like a nice person but is completely inept at confidently asking tough questions and making idiots like Donald look stupid. It’s really frustrating that people like her create endless lib journalist get owned content because it feels like they’re so unprepared.
Also on a side note it’s a ridiculous that they keep letting Donald’s get away with his bullshit. He constantly does well on cnn even though he’s a moron and it wouldn’t be hard to make him look like an idiot

IRS ‘forever’ barred from investigating Trump's past taxes: CNN reacts

>The Internal Revenue Service can’t bring claims against President Donald Trump, his family or businesses for past tax issues, according to additional terms added Tuesday to the settlement the Justice Department reached with Trump to resolve his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS.

>The additional terms, first reported by Politico, were quietly added in a hyperlink to Monday’s Justice Department press release that contained an agreement to create a nearly $1.8 billion fund to compensate people or organizations that have been “weaponized” by past administrations — a fund widely expected to benefit Trump’s allies, including January 6, 2021, US Capitol rioters.

>CNN’s Alayna Treene reports from the White House. Democratic Reps. Debbie Dingell (MI) and Jake Auchincloss (MA) react to the news. Also, CNN’s Laura Coates’ panel breaks down Trump’s settlement of his lawsuit against the IRS from the right and the left.

Trump endorses Paxton: What it means for TX election

>President Donald Trump on Tuesday endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his primary challenge to Sen. John Cornyn, dealing a massive blow to the incumbent with major implications in the fight for the Senate majority.

>Cornyn has spent over a year courting Trump’s support, while Paxton has run to Cornyn’s right and pitched himself as a stronger ally of the president. Cornyn and Senate GOP leaders argued that he is a stronger general-election candidate as Democrats look to win statewide office in Texas for the first time since 1994.

5 dead in San Diego mosque shooting: The 'strange' details

I am going to ignore the “hate crime” language throughout the video for now and focus on the video's title for a few points of clarification.

These people were not “dead.” They were killed. Murdered.

This was not just a “mosque shooting.” This was an attack inside a holy place.

And right now, who cares about the “strange details”? Five human beings were just gunned down.

Here’s a more morally grounded headline:

“5 people were gunned down in San Diego’s largest mosque in a mass shooting now being investigated as a possible hate crime, with potential terror links also under investigation.”

Edit: in hindsight this is clearly a terrorist attack based on the identification of the terrorists and the nazi symbology used on their weapons.

I'm Done With Smerconish

For a few years now part of my Saturday morning ritual was to watch Smerconish. I'd even pause the TV if I had to take my dog out so that I wouldn't miss any of it. But in the last few weeks it became apparent to me that something had changed. All of a sudden, he seemed to be defending Trump more and more instead of being the somewhat reasonable voice that I always enjoyed. Then this morning I tuned in to see him defending Trump when he said that he doesn't even think about American's financial situation when considering the situation in Iran. That did it for me. I turned the TV off and I'll find something new to watch.

My guess is that with the new ownership coming in he wants to make sure he keeps his gig. Maybe he will, but I for one won't be watching.

Debate: Should part of Trump-backed $1.7B fund go to J6 rioters?

>New reports suggest Donald Trump may drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS as part of a proposed deal involving a $1.7 billion fund. The fund would compensate allies who say they were wrongfully targeted by the Biden Justice Department.
