Blue Tokai might just be the GOAT of customer service

I had ordered 3 boxes of their Americano Drop Coffee concentrate, along with around 500g of ground coffee beans.

When I tried their Americano concentrate, it was a bit too sour, like how coffee tastes when it's under extracted. I gave them the same review on the app, not expecting anything, but hoping they would resolve the issue in the future.

They immediately reached out to me, and asked me for the batch number etc so they could check with their internal team. As an interim measure, they told me they would ship 2 replacement boxes of the Americano Drop Coffee.

Frankly, I didn't want it, as I was quite put off by the first box. Therefore, I mailed them requesting them to ship 1 box of Sea Salt Mocha and 1 box of Signature instead, and that I would return the 2 unused boxes of Americano, and pay the difference, if any.

This is what they responded with:

Why is my moka pot sputtering immediately and producing very little coffee?

New to moka pots and having an issue with sputtering right from the beginning of the brew.

I’m using araku preground coffee in a Pedrini 2 cups moka pot. Even after lowering the flame, it starts sputtering early and only a small amount of coffee reaches the top chamber. I also noticed that a lot of water seems to get absorbed by the coffee puck, and I only get around 40–50% yield in the top chamber compared to the amount of water added to the bottom chamber.

I have 2 kg of blue tokai beans ( gifted) but no machine

Visited the Blue Tokai office in Oshiwara and they gifted me 5 pack coffee beans

Problem is, I don’t have a coffee machine or grinder. Tried using a normal home mixer grinder but it didn’t work properly.

Any suggestions on the cheapest/easiest way to use these beans at home?

Office coffee upgrade! Need 100% pure pre-ground coffee recommendations ☕

I'm trying to upgrade my morning office coffee routine to get a much better, aromatic experience (recently realized instant coffee is a total scam 😂😂).
I need some recommendations for the best pre-ground coffee brands. I can't grind my own beans at work, and I specifically want 100% pure coffee with zero chicory.
I just ordered a steel South Indian coffee filter because I heard they are great. I also usually prefer to drink my black coffee cold.
What are your favorite brands, and what’s your process for brewing it?

The frothiest and best tasting coffee I have ever made

To make this I first made my own caramel syrup using Jaggery and Sugar. I boiled water and added a tiny amount of salt to it and added the coffee powder (not instant). I added the syrup to the coffee. Then to that mixture I added just the yolk (yellow part) of an egg and mixed it. Since the water had just been boiled it cooked the egg yolk thoroughly. I had seen this in a video by Zack D Films and I wanted to try it out for myself. Then I mixed everything together using a frother and finally added milk resulting in this foamy and delicious coffee!

How do you maintain your machine, like backflushing? Also, how is it holding up now? I am really confused between h10a and h10 plus

Bean there, brewed that ☕️ A few of the coffees I’ve gone through lately

Thought I would share some of the coffees I have worked my way through over the last few months.

Most of these were brewed as pourovers, with a few cups made in the Moka Pot too, so I have spent a fair bit of time with each of them.

It has been a fun journey trying different origins, roasts, and flavour profiles. Some instantly became favourites, some really surprised me.

If you have tried any of these or have questions about them, feel free to ask. Always happy to talk coffee.

Edit: A few people asked for quick reviews, so here they are. Most of these were brewed as iced pourovers unless mentioned otherwise, so these ratings are based on that.

Strawberry in Loop (Grey Soul): really nice fruity cup, strong peachy aroma when wet. Easy 8/10.

Ratnagiri Estate Mogra (Reserved): very floral, very mogra. I liked it but definitely not my everyday brew. If you enjoy light floral coffees, this is a must try. 9/10.

Black Grapes (Boojee): slightly darker than what I usually like for pourover, but makes a really good hot cup. Sweet aroma. 8/10.

Say Hello to Mellow (Maverick & Farmer): one of my favourite light roasts lately. Light, clean, not overly floral or fruity. Easy recommendation. 9/10.

The Rebel (KUP): a bit darker than I prefer for pourovers. Worked much better in moka pot and with milk. 7/10.

Dark Honey (Nerlu’s): hidden gem. Amazing aroma, very balanced, and made a great iced pourover. 9/10.

Amaltas Blend (Blue Tokai): honestly better than I expected. Nicely balanced with a bit of brightness. 8.5/10.

Highland Blues (Black Poetry): decent everyday coffee, especially for the price. I liked it more in moka pot than pourover. 7/10.

Mysore Nuggets (Dope): not for me. Too dark and the roast felt inconsistent. 5/10.

Micro Climate (Araku): really solid everyday coffee. Nothing crazy, just reliably good. 8/10.

All of this is based on my personal taste and brew style, so take it with the usual coffee disclaimer 😄

What do you do with the coffee granules?

So I'm fairly new to the coffee game, but i drink atleast 4 cups of coffee a day. what do you do with the remaining granules once the decoction is done? I feel like such a waste to throw it away every time.

Ultimate Coffee Beans Tier List Done Correctly !!!(Please add your votes so others can experience the best India has to offer too)!!!

Hi I saw similar posts and tier lists done before but it is sometimes just brands and I’d really wanna know which exact coffee from the brand’s catalog is actually the favourite of most people.

Please add your top favourites mentioning brand plus which exact coffee. So please don’t say Blue Tokai be specific ex Blue Tokai French Roast

Please add a comment in the following format :

<how many years you’ve been buying specialty coffee beans>
<Top 5 or less coffees comma separated so 1,2,3,4,5 (you can add upto 5 or less. Order them best to worst)>

Example comment to vote:
1
Araku Micro Climate, Blue Tokai French Roast

Aside from the top two lines of the comment feel free to add more light on your reasoning

I will probably accumulate the data and try to update somewhere once we get enough comments.

Please do upvote so this reaches enough people - I don’t care for karma only to compile a list that I can personally try out for my pour over and cold brew setup. I am into data analytics and would add the results later if we get enough traction on this post.

Did i receive fake Nescafé gold from Amazon?

I have ordered Nescafe gold coffee from Amazon after seeing raving reviews about it. I was previously drinking davidoff espresso 57, was bored of it and wanted to try something different. Hence ordered Nescafé gold.

All the pics and reviews in Amazon has English text on the bottle, mine has some other language. I only made cold coffee with it till now, and it doesn’t give me that coffee taste that much. Did I receive fake product by any chance?

Please help

Timemore c3s/c5 esp or kingrinder k6

I recently got a dedica ec890 . Using it with my timemore c2s with pressurised basket.

I want to upgrade to bottomless portafilter and i know i will need a good grinder for that. Came across timemore esp and kingrinder k6 . But i am really skeptical.

My budget is ~10-12k .

Thanks in advance for your comment.
